hello! the org I volunteer with, prison book program, is up for project 4 awesome funding once more.

pbp does really phenomenal work and has for 50 years! last year we sent out over 19,000 packages, each one handpicked to someone's request. every package we get out the door is a reminder to us and the person we send it to that their tastes and choices matter, whether they asked for game of thrones or gardening manuals or graphic novels or a book to pass along to their kid. that's a big thing, in a system that's set up to strip choice and dignity from the lives of incarcerated people, and to do as much as possible to hide the realities of their existence from the rest of us. it has been a profoundly meaningful volunteering experience for me and I have learned a lot from the stories and resilience people share in their letters.

last year we got about 30k from p4a, which made a huge difference in our annual postal budget, and also let us buy a bunch of copies of books that don't get donated, from one-off requests like language learning and special interests we didn't have in stock to bulk orders of CDL manuals and queer/trans resilience handbooks and almanacs.

please dont stop talking about palestine . i do not trust israel and there has been multiple ceasefires theyve completely ignored . if we do happen to see iof soldiers leave and no longer occupy palestine , they would still need to rebuild . this includes medical aid and addressing airborne diseases , finding displaced families and reuniting them , etc ... their entire infrastructure needs to be rebuilt so please do not forget about palestine and do not let the US take credit for their liberation .
