I like using the app Spotify as my daily radio for it is very convenient now a days, especially in the age of technology. I Always bring my phone with me all the time where ever I go, and I got Spotify on my phone which enables me to listen to music using the app anytime, on the spot. All you need to do is download your favorite songs or songs you like to listen to, add it to your playlist, then boom! You are good to go. That is why I love using Spotify.
There are a lot of songs that I could say and recommend in this post but I will tell the 10 of the my most favorite ones. ( They are not arranged accordingly to my most favorite and least favorite).
Favorite 10 songs of mine.
Courageous – Casting Crowns
This is a Christian song that I really like because it talks about the strength of humanity when it comes to serving people and their gods. Though it is a Christian song, other religions could also relate to this song, specially at times of hardships and feeling down and weak. Just listen to this song, and I think this might help you with your troubles. I believe in the saying that “fear hinders all”. Yes, that is normal, but how will you seek strength. Listen to this song and you will know. Maybe you could even find your purpose with this song.
Ever Enough – A Rocket to the moon
As a lover, this song really is important to me and it also describes on how much I love as a person now. Because, honestly, I wasn’t the best lover before, but because of this song, I realized on how important love is and that this song teaches me on how to love, passionately, faithfully, and loyally; that even on the hard times and all the sacrifices are worth it, as long as you love truly. I think all you lovers and even those who are admiring someone out there should listen to this song too. It has a nice melody, a nice rhythm, and the lyrics are just perfect. Perfect enough for a person to be in love.
Humble and kind – Tim Mcgraw
The song is already said using its title, humble and kind. I love this song for it mainly tells about the good values and morals that a person should have in order to be happy, contented, and peaceful in life. I also love the music video for it emphasizes on equality no matter on what age you are, what’s your race, the beliefs you believe in, everything is equal in this world. It also tells you to appreciate everything, from the small things to the big ones, the good and the bad, the right and the wrong. The message of the song is just so eye opening and heat warming for me. Plus, it’s a country song! Which I also like.
Iris – Goo Goo Dolls
This was by far, my first favorite song that I could remember. The song for me describes on how a person lives. It describes a person’s life in general. For me, the song is relatable to all the people at some points in their life. It could be the ups, the downs, the twists, the turns; I mean like literally it could be related to it. In my own opinion, the message of he song is all about finding yourself and being true to yourself, and always remember that life will not understand you, it will hit you right in the face with everything that it could hit you. As the lyrics goes “I don’t want the world to see me, ‘cause I don’t think that they’d understand. When everything’s meant to be broken, I just want you to know who I am.”
Leave out all the rest – Linkin park
First of all, I’ve been a fan of the linking park since my elementary years, and it broke my heart when their lead vocals committed suicide, it just really broke my heart. All the songs of linking park became more meaningful when the lead vocals took his own life. This song, in my opinion, talks about a suicide. If you listen to the lyrics carefully, it talks about a person talking about his/her own death and that person being weak and is slowly giving up on his/her life. It talks about the feeling of being ignored, unappreciated, not loved, rejected, discouraged, and lonely. This song makes me rethink life. T made me realize on how much life is important and of that, we should care more for the people that we know and the people in general. We should love more and show people that we care, specially those who are in the shadows of death. We can do something to help. Listen to this song. It is really touchy and also very meaningful.
Never Gonna be Alone – Nickelback
Time will pass quickly in our lives that sometime we are not able to say the things that we should or we want to say to the person that really means a lot to us. Basically, the song for me talks about the importance of time and of that, we should cherish it and make everything worth it o every second that passes by, because we will never know on what could happened on the next seconds of our lives. Say what you want to say, do what you want to do, because right now is the only chance that you have. Make everything worth it. Be there for people that you love, and make memories that will surely last forever. You will never know when the time will come when everything will slip away. Do not make it to the point where you regret things.
Say you won’t let go – James Arthur
Another love song that I really like because I feel that I can relate to it, I like songs that I can relate to. I like this song because the song is like narrating a love story in a form of a song, which for me is really catchy. Plus, I really like the 2nd and last verses of the song, for just like in the song, I also dream of waking up in bed with the one I love, have my own children, and even live with the one I love until death do us part. It also inspires me that I should do everything just to keep and accomplish my promises and dreams of love and family in the future, that I really hope I could accomplish and have even through thick and thin, ups and downs; as the song says “say you won’t let go”, so I won’t.
Something just like this – The Chainsmokers & Coldplay
Firstly, I got really attracted to the song because of its beat and rhythm. I really do not like songs with a “party-like” genre, but this for me is the only exemption. I like the song because of its lyrics. Simply because it talks about finding somebody that a person could be with, he/she do not need to be a superhero just to be with that person, just a normal person to spend time with. I also like that the song related superheroes to it, like the person is looking for a superhero to be with, but that person is just really lonely that needs somebody to be with him/her. For me, it is a party-beat song that has a deeper meaning to it.
Thank you for loving me – Bon Jovi
As life progresses there are a lot of events that happened in our lives. Events that made us cry, made us weak, made us stumble and fall, made us fail, made us regret, made us sad and mad, made us hate ourselves, and all the other “made us…” that we can think about. But despite of those events, there were people who were there for us to catch us when we fall, to help up stand up when we stumble, to help us pass challenges that seemed to be very difficult to overcome, to teach us on how to live. This song is a tribute, in my part, to those who are very special to me. My family, my relatives, my friends, my girlfriend, and all the people who showed care for me. I am always thankful for your love for me. Remember to be thankful for those who were there for you, and also, be there for others in need.
Wind of Change – Scorpions
This is the oldest of my favorite songs. My grandmother gave it to me when I was like 8 years old, and by then, I loved the band, specially this song of theirs. The main reason why I like this song is because it tells us about change. That everything changes no matter how much you want to stop it, the past will never be changed, but will be remembered and learned from. The future will always come, like the wind, the future is just in the air that will happen soon. We always dream, and we dream about the future of ourselves and the world. It also gives importance on the world, that it is a beautiful place that we should be more careful of it and be more faithful in taking good care of it. It is the only place where we live, we change it for the better, not the worse.

What new and relevant information did you learn from the film show?
After watching the documentary film, I have learned 2 things, those two things are: Philippines has a greater rate of poverty than I have expected, and Bayanihan and Walang Iwanan are the words that will truly describe a Filipino.
Even though poverty is visible in the urban areas and would likely to be common, I never thought that in the rural places, poverty will be much worse and would be that terrible. Imagine crossing numerous of mountains on rocky, muddy, and slippery surface. No buses, jeepneys, motorcycles, or even bikes could cross those steep and narrow paths, only barefoot or at least with just slippers on, just to reach a public hospital which clearly wasnt funded enough by the government. Just imagine going to a place where you expect the most out of it, yet will receive less when you arrive. But despite the hardship upon arriving to the hospital, there you will notice the care, the sacrifice, the aid, the urge of doing everything just to serve its people; Filipinos will never leave you behind and will do everything that they can, just to help.
Do you think documentary film is the best medium to show the societal issues presented in the material viewed? Why or why not? If not, which type of media could relay those issues better? Elaborate your answer.
Based in the fact that we are living in the era where technology is very vast and it is the main means of communication now a days. For me, a documentary is good medium to show society issues in todays world, but I think ads, short films (1-3 mins.), infomercials, social media posts, pictures, or straight information would still be the best type or ways to spread awareness about present societal issues. In the present, if your video/film doesn’t get the attention of the audience in the intro, your video/film will be useless because people will not continue watching your film due to lack of interest, especially if it is a long one. Another factor would be, people of today have lesser attention span and you would need to be a great persuader for people to be interested in what your topic is all about for them to continue or finish watching or listening to your topic. That is why for me, these type of media are better than documentaries in the present day.
How can you, as a student, help others become aware and critical of the timely issues in our society using your social media platforms?
As a student, and of course and active social media user, what I can do in order to help people become aware and critical about timely issues in the society is to be aware about these issues myself. How will I be able to help if I do not even know what is going on around the society? I would also be rational and open to the issues in the society to avoid bias, so that if I ever want to share information to others, my information will be reliable and trustworthy. Lastly, the best thing to do is be active in what is happening in the society and share information through the media that what i think would be the best ways in order to inform people such as in Facebook, news in televisions and radios, commercials, infomercials, and direct information to people.

Dear OFWs,
"Everyday is a new day." Yes, I know that you are tired and I know that you are homesick, and it is hard living that life everyday. It is the most difficult choice that you have made and surely, the greatest sacrifice that you have ever done. Being away from your your family, having less time with them, or even just the fact of not seeing your love ones is a hard thing to endure, and i salute you for accepting and facing the challenges that you have encountered.
I may not know your pain and i haven't experienced what you have experienced, but I know that your sacrifices will pay off soon. Be strong and continue doing what is right; remember your reason for making that decision. Soon enough, you will come home with grief. Just believe.
Sincerely yours,
Kim

Rape is Never a Culture
This Earth that we are living used to be a great world. A world of courage and power and was led by the most intelligent leaders. But this world isn’t how it is supposed to be now. The world is good, at least as I can remember, but is now getting bad and worse in every generation. A lot of crimes are committed by demonic criminals, and they do not even get punished by law also because of the irrational ways of the government. See how our world is getting worse and worse every day? Killings, robbery, torture, kidnapping, and specially rape, in women or even men, are just some of what is happening to our world. We don’t want to live like this. This is not the world that we want. Rape, a very serious topic to talk about; maybe the 2nd to the worse crime you could ever commit after murder. It is a type of sexual assault or violence usually involving sexual intercourse or other forms of sexual penetration carried out against a person without that person's consent. This happens to male or female, young or old, and normal or people with disabilities. According to CNN Philippines on their data on March 8, 2017, every hour one woman or child is being raped and that is still the ones accounted and notified by the government, much more on those who kept silent. For sure, the number of rape cases are increasing now, we just do not mind to think and investigate about it too much because people simply do not care much about other’s life. By rape being well-known and happens often, our world is creating a boundary that is breaking the virtues and values of women, and that is rape culture. Emilie Buchwald, author of Transforming a Rape Culture, stated “Rape culture is a complex set of beliefs that encourage male sexual aggression and supports violence against women. It is a society where violence is seen as sexy and sexuality as violent. In a rape culture, women perceive a continuum of threatened violence that ranges from sexual remarks to sexual touching to rape itself. A rape culture condones physical and emotional terrorism against women as the norm . . . In a rape culture both men and women assume that sexual violence is a fact of life, inevitable . . . However . . . much of what we accept as inevitable is in fact the expression of values and attitudes that can change.” Basically, rape is very well-known that it is not considered as a crime, but rather a normal norm and event in living. Should it be stopped or will it ever be? “If you had raped three, I will admit it, that’s on me” “I was angry that she was raped. But she was so beautiful. The mayor should have been the first. What a waste” “What I don't like are kids (being raped.) You can mess with, maybe Miss Universe. Maybe I will even congratulate you for having the balls to rape somebody when you know you are going to die,” Lines that were said by our very own President Rodrigo Duterte on his speech to the soldiers in Davao on May 26, 2017. Clearly it is a statement of categorized in rape culture. Some people just rode along with the president, while others were very sad and angry It is a joke about rape; are jokes about rape should be mentioned? A lot of people were affected and offended by what the president said. Some said it was the words of a heartless person and some said it was the words of a rapist. This event is a good example of having rape culture in our country. People laughed when the president joked about rape well in fact it is still a work of a criminal and is punishable by law. Does this mean that if you joke about murder, suicide bombings, fake crimes, and other indecent things in public it is still fine and acceptable? What our president shown on his speech is just one kind of rape culture. It could include jokes, TV, music, advertising, laws, words and imagery, that make violence against women and sexual harrassments seem so normal that people believe that rape is inevitable. It is in the heart of the rapist, in the mind of those who are impure, and are on the hands of those who are dirty, even in the most vicious way of looking at a woman’s legs because she is wearing shorts or a skirt and thinking that woman is naked is to be considered rape, but people simply do not care for it is not their lives which is endangered and for some, they enjoy raping other people. In fact, rape is now not view by other people as a problem to be solved, but for people in rape culture, it as a natural way of life and is just the way things are. For some rape is just a normal thing to do by the human bodies and is just like a hobby that is persistently occurring and is being done. Rape and rape culture are slowly taking over the society that we are living. It is a very serious problem and is rapidly growing in our societies. We need to stop these acts and beliefs before it is too late, and the only way to prevent this from happening is to educate and help people who are in the depths of these activities and beliefs. Educate people that rape and rape culture is very wrong and should not be done or tolerated at all. It is a sin and crime that is very punishable by law if only it is implemented strictly. Learn to control the sensation of wanting sexual activities specially with people that you do not know and people who do not give you the consent to do it with them. Learn to respect so that you too will be respected by others. Learn that any crimes that destroys the lives of humanity is not good and helpful to the society and even yourself. Know that every person has feelings and emotions that are needed to be considered upon doing a certain action. Learn that wrong deeds are wrong and never they became right. We must know how important dignity is to a certain person and of that, it is the only source of pride and self-esteem of an individual. Learn how to be respectable and respected by others, and learn the values of life and character so that you will be able to find the virtues and values that you need in life and use them in your everyday living. We must learn to consider others as to how others consider yourself. We should spread the good and right things in order to accomplish unity and development in our societies for it to simply be a better one. Always be guided by the golden rule; “Do not do to others what you don’t want others to do to you”. We all live in the same world, eat the same food, breathe the same air, do the same things, and follow the same rules in order to achieve unity and wholesomeness. Always remember in our society and even our world, any sort of crime, even rape, is not right and is punishable by law, so why do it?

Waiting for Fall
Seasons. What are seasons anyway? Is the season the reason that everything change? Or is it the reason why everything looks and feels good. Seasons come and go just like people all around the world, but what’s special about seasons, is that they always come back. Maybe not for a short while, but surely if you wait patiently, they will comeback.
Winter, spring, summer, and then fall. Fall. My favourite time of the year. It is where everything dies but manages to look beautiful. Only comes once a every year but is still anticipated by everyone. After a big bloom in spring, everything will fall apart, be destroyed, will die but will still be worth the wait. Every leaf will fall and the ground will seem dry, every tree will bend and all the grasses will look pale; everything will seem so gloomy, but will remain beautiful and will always seem perfect. Like other people, I also waited for fall. In fact, I waited for long months for fall to arrive. It wasn’t easy, but surely the wait is worth worth everything.
It all started on a winter morning. Everything felt cold for I knew that fall had already left. No footprints, nor letters, just a leaf to be spared. Yes, by that time I knew that fall had already left. She left me devastated for fall was my favourite thing. You know, fall hugs you with her leaves wrapping around your body, she gives you kisses on the skin with her chilly breeze, and most of all, fall gives you the feeling of relaxation and happiness when she is around. But that feeling was not there. Winter took all those things and replaced it with is freezing cold and a pile of plain snow; nothing seemed to look beautiful, for everything was covered with plain, thick, freezing snow. but, maybe I was just paranoid and overreacting about snow. Maybe winter isn’t that bad at all. Maybe I just really miss fall.
Time passed and winter had finally left, but everything wasn’t perfect as it seems. It was spring that has came. Everything felt warmer and everything grew back to what they originally looked like. But this wasn’t the season for me. I am not saying that spring isn’t wonderful, in fact, it is one of the most awaited seasons for other people. Everything will turn into colorful things and everything will look so alive. It will encourage you to live happily and see the beauty of the outside world as it is. Everything will grow and everything will regain all its perfection and make people happy. But that was not the case for me. I saw spring as another obstacle for me to pass, for all i ever wanted was to see fall again. Though it wasn’t what I wanted, spring still taught me that everything is still beautiful despite the challenges that you are facing. It also told me to wait a little longer, for anytime soon, fall will be back, just like the other seasons do. By that, I waited for days, weeks, and months and endure the longing just to see fall again. And by the end of everything, spring also left and left me an advice that I would hold unto.
I woke up in sweat and with a dry and sticky feeling. Is this? Summer! Yes, as excited I am, summer is already here. i can feel the heat upon my skin and the boiling of blood inside my heart. Am I excited because summer promised me that it will be a blast, or am I excited for spring is just right about the corner? Either way, i’ve waited long enough and there is nothing to stop me now. I am holding to the words and promises that fall will be back, and there is nothing that will make me give up on those promises. I am happy that summer is here. I am happy for it was an indication that fall is about to come. Despite the heat and humidity that I feel during summer, nothing will beat the rushing excitement on my pumping heart that sooner and later fall will be back. I need to hold on and wait just for a little longer. Thank you summer for keeping me company while I wait for fall. It is my honour to be with you as I wait. You are my best friend and i am proud of that. After everything that happened, summer also left.
Then, suddenly, two hearts became one once again. Two hearts longing for each other finally had met again. Yes, finally, fall is back! I waited long enough and endured every pain that I experienced just to be with fall once again. Her smell, her touch, her kiss, her hugs, and everything about her, I missed it all so much. The long wait is over and everything is perfect. Slowly but surely everything now is perfect. Fall finally hugs me with her leaves wrapped around me so tight, fall kissed me on my cheek and it gave me chills, I felt relaxed and complete when I finally saw fall again, and most of all, I heard fall say I love you after a long time of pain, sleepless nights, over thinking, and waiting.
Right now, I am contented with fall beside me. I do not want to think about when is fall every leaving again. I am happy with this very perfect moment that I and fall are together and I am grateful that fall has came back. Even though I know that fall will maybe leave me again soon, I will hold on to her promises of coming back and will still wait for her no matter how many winters, springs, and summers will pass. After all, every season that leaves, always comes back, you just have to patiently and faithfully wait for that time to come again.

“Hesus isn’t dead, he never lived”
“A widowed mother trying to drag her children to go to their father’s funeral that they do not even want to go to” Patay na si Hesus was first just an entry for the QCinema filmfest back at 2016. It won two awards such as the Audience choice Award and the Gender sensitive award for it’s genre and theme. It is now showing in the whole Philippines as one of the 12 films in the first edition of the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino QCinema International Film Festival 2016. The movie was categorized as a comedy road movie which is written by Patrick Tabada and was directed by Victor Villanueva and was released on October 16, 2016. The film was a very bumpy, wiggly, spinny road trip that is full of unnecessary and idiotic scenes, but is still full of love and compassion. Many were able to relate to it, specially the millennials, and that for me made the movie a crowd’s favorite or it was full of jokes, comedic actions and words, but at the same time teaches you lessons that are very useful in our generation. The Cebuano comedy movie was about a mother, Maria Fatima, preferably “Iyay”, which was played by a Filipina veteran actress, Jaclyn Jose, who seemingly got her 3 adult children together for a road trip from Cebu to Dumaguete to attend the funeral of their father, Hesus. Hubert, being the eldest child, and was played by a local Cebuano actor Vincent Viado, has Down Syndrome but is still the most responsible among the siblings. Judith Marie, also called “Jude”, which is played by a Cebuano actress Chai Fonacier, is a lesbian/trans man who got heart broken while on their trip. The youngest sibling is Jay, which is played by a Cebuano actor Melde Mendez, is jobless and the most lazy of all the sibling. Plus, it is his 3rd time taking the board exam yet still didn’t pass it. Also part of the road trip is their dog Hudas, and a side trip with their aunt Lucy, their family squeezed into the family’s minivan for a trip that they will never forget. The title of the movie which is “Patay na si Hesus” made confusions to other audiences. Some thought of the movie as a religious movie because of the title, and some already knew that it was comedy. The title is very deceptive and could shock the audience once they see the actual movie itself. For some conservative audience that do not have any background about the movie, they will find it disrespectful especially for the title seem that it is pertaining to one’s religion but is actually not even of a single bit. Though the title may seem very traditional and common to the audience, the movie and content itself is the one who made a big difference to some movies in the world. The movie was narrated by Iyay herself and is linear in structure. Every scene was connected one after another and was not randomized in sequence. The audience will not have any hard time understanding the context of the movie for it was narrated accordingly and is very discrete and direct to the point. During the sequence of the story, there happened some side trips and the family also had to face challenges along the way, though everything was resolved by the end, this was still a part of the movie that made it unique. After every scene and another, there you will notice the change and building up of the true characters of the actors and actresses in the movie. You will be able to see each growth in the characters and slowly resolve every problem that they face within themselves and also, slowly notice how their family change and become closer and having a better relationship with one another. The story was all about Iyay and her family’s road trip going to Dumaguete and is viewed and narrated mostly on Iyay’s perspective and her narration. The movie took place in the Queen City of the South, Cebu and is mainly focused and is endorsing the culture of the Cebuanos that are living there. The setting of the movie was based on the reality and goes along the saying “what you see is what you get”. There were no specially technology and graphical designs are used, but the movie took Cebu as is on how it looks like. Since the movie was shot mostly on Cebu, so most of the acts that you will see is based on the Cebuano. Even the songs that are being played and listen to in the movie was made by the local Cebuano singers that is quite famous in the music industry today. Not only that you will see about what’s good in Cebu, you will be able to see the problem that the society of Cebu is currently facing such as poverty, irresponsible drinkers, annoying vendors, and many others. Despite the negative side that the movie showed, it also endorsed famous places here in Cebu, such as the miraculous church of Simala which is very famous for it’s history and the things that it did to help a lot of Cebuanos and Filipinos in general. They also went to the city of Carcar and there you will see the vendors that are trying to sell you their goods and it is like a competition there among them but its is where most of the people are going to to buy their pasalubong such as chicharon and rice cakes that are very tasty and are very delicious delicacies. As part of their trip to almost all over Cebu, their minivan where still there with them, not giving up, and was the one who help the family together on their way to Dumaguete and until they came back home. The casts of the film were a mixture of Filipino actors and local Cebuano celebrities. Iyay, played by Jaclyn Jose, is a very understanding, loving and caring mother to her children. She is the type of mother that is willing to risk anything just for her family and of that nothing will stop her from reaching that goal until she knows that her family is safe. She is just a typical mother, strict and very well properly mannered, but is still your best friend and someone you could run to. Hubert, played by Vincent Viado, was a child of Iyay that had a special need is diagnosed by an illness called, Down Syndrome. Despite of having this disability, Hubert proved to his family that he is not to be treated as a special child, thus, he want to be treated just like a normal person would treat each other. He is the one that make the family glow, grow and happy. Judith Marie, also known as Jude, which is played by Chai Fonacier, is a lesbian in the film. Though she is the one who is very much like her mother, hard on the outside, she is just as delicate as other women inside. For most of the trip in the movie, Jude was heartbroken after her partner left her for another girl. Jay, the youngest sibling, is played by Melde Mendez, also a Cebuano artist, is the laziest and stubborn of them three. HE is very “pilosopo” to his mother and could show signs of disrespect to other people. Though he is like that, Jay is still the one that always has his mother’s back, though a troublemaker, he always keeps up and knows his mistakes and copes up with it. He also took the bar exam 3 times, and yet still did not passed it. Besides Jude who dresses up and acts like a man because she is lesbian, the other characters are visualized as to who and how they are and are addressed in the movie. They are dressed simple and are based on their character, age and their social status which by their clothes and houses, you could say that they are in the average or middle class. Since the movie took place mainly in Cebu or the Visayan county, the characters spoke the Visayan language often and used also expressions in Visayan but, they also managed to talked in Filpino despite being in the central part of the Philippines. By the means of their language and how they speak, you can determine the characteristics that each actor or actress played and is visualized using their way of communication to other people. With their use of language, slowly, the viewers are able to see the growth and understand the character of each person played in the movie which is helpful in order for the audience to deeply relate and understand the movie. All of the characters played their role very well, but there is someone who stood up and went out of the box in order to showcase his character, and that is Jay. The character whom I liked the most is Jay, not because he is a bad boy or somewhat a bad influence, i like him most because he really showed great perseverance and character in the story. Besides being the clown and the buddy of the family, he is also always there for his mother specially in times where his mother needs someone to talk to. Jay s a very well family oriented guy, despite of the flaws that he has made. The movie was based on a family that had a road trip trying to fulfill the goal of their mother to attend the funeral of their father. Since the children of Iyay hated their father, the main conflict of the story is about their feeling of hatred, despair, division, rejection, and not acknowledging their father as their father. Yet, there are other conflict that the family faced such as the closing of the stand of Iyay’s pungko-pungko, the time when Jude got broken hearted, when Hubert had this desire to prove his family that he could ride the bus, so he did with Hudas, their dog, who was the only one with him, the time when Jay got his girlfriend pregnant, and many other more conflicts along their way to Dumaguete, the story revolves around this issue of division with their father and of the feeling of hate towards him. The sub conflicts was resolved, but I think that the main conflict was either waived or they just really do not seem to care about Hesus anymore. When the conflict was about to be resolve in the film where they were supposed to attend the prusisyon before their father’s burial, the plot twist happened when they saw their dog die, and ironically, they cried harder because their dog, Hudas, died rather than knowing that their father died and didn’t even dropped a single tear for him. Since the film was based on the Visayan culture, the movie also used locally produced Visayan songs that were used in some scenes. The soundtracks also helped in understanding certain situations more and deeply such as the song “Hahahahasula” by Kurt Fick and on how it relates to situation when Jude became heartbroken. Every turn on the radio, and everywhere they go, Jude was able to listen to broken hearted songs on the radio, and is even performed live by a kid in the forest where they got stucked because of a cow. VisPop is very popular specially to Visayans because not only it is pleasant to hear, but also on how the Visayans can relate to every word that the singer or writer sang and on how it delivers the message of every situation that people face or can relate to. The songs also enabled the viewers to feel the moment of that movie and relate a particular scene where the music is playing and imagining that they are in that situation also. The film promotes diversity in general. It may be in location, in language, the songs you listen to, your religion, family status, tourism, social status, gender preference and many other factors are embedded in the diversity if the film. This is a great way to promote the Cebuano culture and the Filipino culture in general. The film, help people and society see the beauty in our country and the beauty of oneself. It will help in identifying oneself and help in the search of who you want to be. For the film delivered diversity in their theme, you, also as a viewer, will embed the lessons and view in life as to which the movie has shown you. You will live your life more freely for it will be stuck it will be stucked in your head that even if you are different and/or is making a difference, it is fine as long as you are not stepping on someone on your way. Being different and being diverse is fine, you must have to learn to accept and love yourself and do not be afraid. Even if others see you for you are even if you are poor or rich, gay or straight, fat or skinny, normal or abnormal, married or widowed, tourist or local, Christian or non-Christian, faithful or not, a Filipino or a foreigner, educated or uneducated and other more categories that society categorizes you, that is already given that society will not accept you in some factors, yet being able to cope up with society and accepting diversity will help you and the society reach out of your inner self and be the person you want to be without the fear of being judged. Everyone is judged and is not accepted in some aspects of society, it is merely and based on how you deal with these conflicts that you will face and how would you show that what the society thinks is wrong. Educate the society about these things that they are sometimes close minded about. Let them understand and feel the importance of these factors in making up a society. That is what the film is trying to let us understand and a possible lead to the theme of the movie. The film wants to show us that you are accepted even if in the reality the opposite sometimes happen, you are still part of the society and community no matter who you are, where you are from, and what you did. The main theme of the movie is more on the importance of family in the society and yourself, and accepting diversity. It is well visualized in the movie for the themes focuses on one family that is very diverse in terms of gender, belief, and etc., that are striving to survive and reach their main goal. This is a good example of a common and traditional Filipino family. The family may be diverse, not perfect, or any other negative traits one family could have, but in times of need and closure, the family is always there to help you and be there for you. The film captures and showcase the Visayan culture and expresses it through a form of art. This is a great opportunity for people to understand more about the culture that the Visayans have and of that what could they expect from it. It is more focused on the tradition, language, belief, cultures and everyday living of the Visayans and is showing what is like to live in a Visayan county. This is a great example of endorsing and being proud of one’s culture and accepting the fact of diversity in our country. The movie well explains and lets people understand the way the Visayans live, on how they interact with people around them, and solve the challenges that they are facing. This is a great start off to make people realize the importance of their culture and to enable them to see the possibilities if their culture will be forgotten and not taken care of. Though, even if the movie is that great, there are also limitations that the viewers should be aware of especially in the language and expressions that the Visayans use. In order for someone to understand and relate to the movie in depth, one must learn the language, culture, beliefs, and tradition of the Visayans for if you are from the north who doesn’t have a clue on how the Visayans live, you will not be able to relate yourself and possibly wouldn’t like the movie at all. Even if the movie also often uses the Filipino language, there will still be a missing block in your mind if you do not understand the culture of the Visayans. Also, this is not only great for promoting diversity in our country, but also it promotes the true value of one’s family. For the film was based on a family striving to live and survive in this world, the characters did a good job in emphasizing their characteristics in order for the viewers to identify the sources of conflicts and what could be the possible solution to those conflicts. The movie teaches viewers that no matter how huge your problem is and how heavy your struggle is, your family will always be there for you and will help you until the best that they can. Family is very important. Even if the movie was categorized to be a comedy film, it will teach you lessons that are very useful and important in our daily lives. It will teach you to live, be serious, know when to joke around, persevere, listen, communicate, love, forgive, be strong, strive and other life values that you need to gain in order for you to survive in this world. Overall, the film was a blast, not be cause it is a comedy show, but it was way different than other shows that are categorized to be in comedy and it stepped out to the mainstream and thought outside the box that made it unique. This Movie is best for families, teens, barkada, millennials, and even for the elderly who are looking for a stress reliever and as well as a great movie to watch. But then again, this movie needs to be understood well and have an overview about it in order for you to have a complete understanding and completely relate to the context of the film.

Patawad, Aking Reyna
