“Another thing about his design that I’m actually just realizing now is that the gold along his pants resembles kintsugi, a Japanese process of repairing broken pottery using materials such as gold as glue. Coincidentally or not, the dlc for the next games in the series introduced a character who is Adaman’s descendant, as well as a new pokemon partially based on kintsugi. Again, this could be a coincidence, but considering the descendant had a pretty main role in a major side quest and the new pokemon was a pretty big deal (I believe there was only one other new pokemon introduced?) there’s a chance that it was intentional, and if so, that is a brilliant connection”

Knows everything there is to know about everything within the canon of the anime.

Major fanboy energy. For cooking, for trains, for Pokémon. His wiki says “Cilan is a superbly eccentric boy. He enjoys the intricacies of life, making him cheerful almost all his parts in the anime. His connoisseur catchphrase is "It's evaluating time!" and honestly that takes his nerd score off the charts imho.

He's got so many different interests that he's so dang passionate about that you can't help but feel compelled to like him - the anime gives him infinitely more characterisation than the games could ever and I love that for him. He loves cinema. He loves trains. He loves fishing and science and all the fun stuff. There's a running gag where he becomes a detective for the episode and figures stuff out. In my honest opinion, he's arguably one of the silliest fellas in the entire Pokémon canon. In conclusion this silly green guy is so multifaceted with his billion interests outside of being a Pokémon Connoisseur - hot damn if he doesn't compel me with his possibly autistic charm.

oh hes obsessive over his work, he's a man so obsessed with his creations and transformation potions that he's willing to experiment on himself. he's also pissed that dr. cortex stole his work on the evolvo-ray that turned all the main animal cast into furries that he goes out of his way to become his former colleague's sworn enemy in crash 2(though his allegiange changes depending on the game).

evil scientists are automatically huge nerds, he's obsessed with taking credit for his inventions which is totally valid of him but he also claims he wrote the bible. also he gets more green in his transformations which is fun

I decided to say screw it and make the season 2

It's all the same as last year, and if you're new the rules are in the form notes.

I added an extra space for images this time but if your character was submitted last year then there's no need to add an image since I still have the images! If it's a new character it would really mean a lot if you added an image, but its by no means required at all.

Lastly I wanna remind everyone that no character is immediately in the tournament!! No matter how popular or obvious they are there's no guarantees. Aside from Kirby. I'm on the fence on whether I should put him as an automatic entry or save him to the end to make him battle the winner of this year. Maybe you guys can help with that. idk.

he's such a silly lil guy and sometimes i feel bad for ruining him. emphasis on sometimes. it's kind of funny actually. also he created a program called D.U.C.K. whose manifestation is this rubber duck that learns to screw stuff up bc algorithms. that's gotta count for something

The films tell us he literally has no body at the time the story takes place. He's only shown in any kind of body (humanoid, but really tall) in the prologue scene and in flashbacks. He has very few lines, but the ones he does have are in a scary, evil sounding voice with either a British or New Zealand (probably New Zealand) accent. The giant flaming eye that is most commonly associated with him is not his body, but rather a tool he uses (it's magical, all-seeing), and really just serves as a representation of him for movie purposes (it's not a literal eye in the book, but the movie needed a way to show the character and some of his power that the book just does through description)

Everyone always calling him edgy and evil. I mean. Yes. He is edgy. But evil? No. He's just a bit silly. Besides, what would you do if your best friend died at a young age, AND it was planned by the two of you only to regret it. Anyway. I'm not saying anything more. Because at that point I'd be infodumping about him, because that's literally just how much I like Flowey as a character. LOOK, I know nobody else will agree with me, but he is MY blorbo. At least. (And I hope other's also have him as a blorbo)

Half the fandom will vilify him and call him stupid or an irredeemable monster for his choices, which he made because he was a little sneaky. The other half will woobify and baby him and act like he had no agency or choice in his actions and every other character is to blame for the consequences.

The classic monster/human struggle of finding one's humanity after doing unimaginable harm, Jon Sims is often morally misinterpreted as being a "good" or "bad" person, instead of someone who has done good and bad things in his very human experience of having the world's most toxic workplace and being in his 20s.

Fandom constantly asserts he’s done nothing wrong and can do no wrong however the entire podcast is about how trauma fucks people up. 4th season of the show spends a lot of time on him having a crisis about the morality of feeding off people’s fear in a way that deeply hurts them. Fandom ignores this season apart from to talk about how mean the others characters were to him in it. Characters he’s hurt are described by the fandom as ‘whiny’, ‘self-serving’, ‘a tantruming child’. He has a female narrative foil with a story arc that mirrors his. She is hated by much of the fandom

Inspired primarily by @bestgameostcrownduel and the video game tracks submitted to @its-to-the-death's Villain Song Showdown, I'm making a video game track tournament!

Rules:

Just to be clear, I'm referring to individual tracks/songs, not full soundtracks!

Tracks should be official/come from an actual game. So no fan songs, and no K/DA situations.

Related to the above, music that was created specifically for (and used in) rhythm games is allowed, but no pre-existing songs or covers of them that happened to be used in rhythm games.

Though I hope this should go without saying, I won’t be allowing any tracks from games from the Harry Potter franchise. I’m also not allowing tracks from the series The Last of Us, and may disallow other series/games if I feel the need.

Please don’t spam the submissions with the same track multiple times, but feel free to submit as many different ones as you want.

I do require a link to the track. If you can’t find (or upload) it anywhere online, it’s not getting in, sorry.

The rules may be updated if I remember anything important I’ve left out, but that’s all of them for now. So beyond that, go wild! I’m tentatively setting the end date for the submission period to February 25; it may be extended depending on how many submissions I receive.
