CAN I JUST FUCKING RANT FOR A SECOND

Minor gripe… I keep seeing people say that Bill canonically wearing eyeliner means the triangle is “fruity” or “femboy-coded” …as much as i love a feminine Bill, the “eyeliner” or Kohl / Surma he uses was always meant for all genders, and was not inherently feminine.

Kohl is the actual term for eyeliner, and it’s always been a big part of heritage in the Middle Eastern countries since ancient times. Given that Bill says he was the who introduced “eyeliner” to Ancient Egypt, i can safely infer that its Kohl. Its fucking kohl . Its not inherently feminine or masculine or gay its fucking kohl and its a cultural staple.

Western concepts of masculinity is fuckeddd. I’ll see a normal ass man wearing Kohl and having long hair and traditional flowing robes, like he has his entire life, just like his ancestors have from Ages ago, and AmericanGuy456 will be like “slayyyy diva!! whens the Drag show queen!! Breaking gender norms!!” 💀💀

Again, I cannot emphasize how much i love feminine/queercoded Bill designs. Its just. This post was inspired by that time i saw a a lovely Arab Bill fanart applying his Kohl (!!)

does anyone have any tips on how to write native characters, specifically in regards to modoc the wise from gravity falls? he already isn’t all that perfect and i’ve heard many people say he was poorly researched, but i have so many story ideas and i want to avoid incorporating tropes or ideas that may be inadvertently stereotypical or disrespectful. i have been doing research on the klamath and modoc tribes, their beliefs, religion, and afterlife, etc. i’ve been using a klamath dictionary and i’ve been referencing modoc and klamath tribe outfits (i’ve decided to go with klamath since i feel it may be slightly more geographically accurate as well as there being an abundance of photographs of traditional clothing). indigenous american history and culture isn’t my specialty and i was wondering if there was anyone who could point me in the right direction here in regards to research and writing. i want to be able to analyze him and piece him together into a fleshed out character with what little information i have, rather than relying on bill’s much more negative and anger-filled portrayal of him.

GUYS NEW SHARK JUST DROPPED

Well, technically it's not new : it's a nurse shark. What's new, however, is that it's the first xanthic (imagine albinism but in yellow) nurse shark ever found !! Not only it's not common AT ALL to find fishes with xanthism (it's the first cartilagenous fish ever recorded with this type of genetic "anomally"), but if it's there and still existing as an adult, it means the species is chill-ish with other predators (it probably would have been eaten by then). Its eyes are white so it can also be a form of albinism, in addition to xanthism !!!!!

And most of all : ITS SO CUTE !! AND IT'S SUCH A COOL FIND !!

Please if a marine biologist or someone with more info can interact with this post to feed me some more info or correct me on wrong infos i'e given I'd love it !

(Also if you have pics of animals with xanthism, it's also very appreciated!!)

People are really not paying enough attention to the fact that Bill and Ford’s substitution ciphers share certain symbols between them. Like man, in a Watsonian billford context that is so fucking gay.

As you can see here, common symbols include:

• triangle with a vertical line (‘I’ in Bill’s, ‘L’ in Ford’s)

• rhombus (‘W’ in Bill’s, ‘N’ in Ford’s)

• semi-circle with a vertical stem (‘O’ in Bill’s, ‘P’ in Ford’s)

and so on.

I can’t quite recall if we were ever given any information as to how either of these ciphers came to be, but my personal headcanon is that Bill and Ford spent hours brainstorming together in the Mindscape, constantly bickering over which symbols to use to represent each letter, which could explain why there are clear disparities between the two ciphers.

Furthermore, at certain points Bill also uses a combined cipher of both his own symbols and Ford’s symbols. (‘partners’ indeed)
