So i feel like nobody but me understands how flipping beautiful mido is, as a character. Here he is, this young kid, who feels like he is destined for greatness, but he can never leave the forest because he is kokiri. So he settles for being the leader of the kokiri, but he always wanted more. Then one day a hylian is dropped in the forest, and joins the kokiri. He watches link grow, and he is filled with envy. Link has all the possibilities in the world before him. Not only that, but Saria, who he deeply loves, thinks nothing of him, and is close to link. Then the deku tree calls link to send him off on an adventure. He gets everything mido wants, fame, adventure, even the girl. Mido cant help but hate him. But seven years later when things go wrong, and Saria and Link have dissapeared, mido is left all alone, and he realises that he was in the wrong. He tells link that he is sorry, and he accepts that Saria loved link and not him, and he is ok with that because he really loves her, and her feeljngs are more important to him than his own. And then there is the saddest point in any legend of zelda game. While everyone celebrates around the fire at the end the shot pans over. There they are, mido and king zora, the two who have lost the people they love most. Think about it, king zora lost his wife, and now his only child, and mido lost the girl he loved, and the closest thing he has to a friend. Utterly devastating. That is why mido is a great character.

Mido: I hate him and I love him. This started as a sketch challenge with my husband Nick the other day, and I’ve been using it to warm up. The theme was LoZ, but we both picked Mido to draw. Great minds think alike!
