A week passes and after two years of saving Janessa finally has enough to buy the bakery of her dreams. It’s small, and she has doubts about whether or not it’ll actually make her money, but she’s tired of job-hopping and working different jobs to suit her lifestyle. Owning her own bakery gives her the freedom of keeping Kaden out of daycare and bring him with her, it also means she gets to an excuse to taste all the cupcakes she makes before she sells them.
Janie’s Cupcake Shoppe, the perfect name for the perfect tiny little store.

Panther ages up into an adult and is even cuter if possible. Kaden and him actually become companions, as Panther follows his tiny human around the trailer. While Kiana is watching Kaden she invites Kiley over, and since her sister still isn’t home by Kaden’s bedtime Kia gives Kaden his Goodnight Moon book and kisses his cheek. His word vocabulary is getting better and he’s learning how to read too, so Kia just leaves him to put himself to sleep while she and Kiley enjoy the quiet in her small bedroom.
Kia: If Janie keeps going out on dates like this you might as well take one of my drawers and move into the trailer.
Kiley: You would give me a drawer?
Kia: I’ll give you half my dresser if you moved in.
Kil: Wait, Ana, are you serious? Because I will pack everything from my dad’s place and move in with you.
Kia: Really? In this crappy trailer?
Kil: Yes, Ana, I would.
Kiana leans forward and kisses her girlfriend. She was joking, not thinking Kiley would actually want to move in, but if she does then now she can’t take it back. She is in love with this girl and would give her everything. Hopefully, Janie is okay with Kiley moving in.

Somehow, Janessa ends up spending the whole day out with Devon. They talk about everything. Janessa tells him that she’s a bartender at a lounge some nights, and Janie learns that Devon works as a tech guru for a Langraab company.
They play some cards and don’t knock the llama, then they head outside and sit in front of the fireplace and cuddle. Janessa really likes him, but she’s worried about how he’s going to react when she tells him about her son.
D: Today was fun, I kind of like you, Janessa.
J: I like you too, and I had a lot of fun. I would love to do this again.
D: Me too, I’ll text you?
J: Sounds like a plan.

Devon: Yeah, I totally get you, when my mom got sick I had to put everything on the back burner and put her first.
Janessa: Really? That sounds awful, is she okay?
D: Oh yeah, no worries.
Across the street, someone working at the bar puts out a sign that says ‘Free Drinks for the Ladies’
D: Hey, wanna grab some drinks? I know it’s early, but they have board games and stuff there we can play.
J: Sure.

Janessa meets Devon at the Cafe in the city centre of Windenburg and Devon quickly kisses her cheek. Janie can’t help but blush.
Devon: I got us a table out front. You look nice today.
J: Thanks, you too. I’ve never been here before, it’s a nice building.
D: They make great cannolis, let me tell you, during my school years I spent way too much money on late night coffees and muffins.
J: What were you in school for?
D: Just general science. I don’t really know what to do with my life. Did you go to school?
J: No, life got in the way.
Would telling him she’s a single mom on their first date be too much? Probably, right? Yeah, she’ll keep it to herself for now.

Janessa is playing out front with Kaden, who’s going through a phase of being really attached to his mom when Janie gets a text from Devon, the boy she kissed at the bar the other night.
Devon: Hey, it was great meeting you the other night, I was wondering if you want to go for breakfast at this cafe in Windenburg?
Janie: Sure, I would love that, I can meet you there.
Janessa runs inside and quickly looks up where the cafe is, then asks her sister to watch Kaden.
Kiana: Yeah, sure, you know I love Kaden, Jay. Are you going on a date?
J: Yeah, the guy I kissed messaged me this morning.
K: Good luck then. I’ll take Kaden to the park. Text me when you get home.

Janessa would call the night a success, maybe it’s the alcohol or the fact that she hasn’t been with anybody since before Kaden was born, but she stops talking and kisses Devon. She spends the whole night talking and drinking with him and he’s cute and has a sweet enough personality. She doesn’t know if it’s going to turn into anything other than a kiss, but now she knows that her little sister was right. She deserves to fall in love again. Being a mom doesn’t mean she can’t fall for someone.

While singing a silly country song Janessa’s eye catches someone watching her and Samara. After they’re done singing the boy walks up to them.
J: Hey, I’m Janessa, and you are really cute.
Boy: I’m Devon and thanks. You’re not so bad yourself.
Samara: See I told you karaoke would work.
J: Shut up.
D: Can I buy you a drink? I’ll buy your friend one too if she wants one.
S: Free booze!
J: Sure, that would be great.
Janessa lightly hits Samara as the three of them walk to the bar.

Samara: So I signed us up for karaoke.
Janie: How is that going to attract men to me?
S: Your horrible singing will be cute, I’m sure.
J: Why am I friends with you?
S: Because I’m awesome and you love me.
J: I think you mean ‘tollerate’.
S: Oh shut up, it’s our turn.

That night Kiana offers to watch her nephew while her sister goes out with Samara. She did convince her sister to try dating, after all, so it figures that she should babysit her little nephew. Also, having the trailer all to herself means that she can invite Kiley over for some movies.
Meanwhile, Janessa and Samara are out in San Myshuno, enjoying everything the city has to offer, especially the Starlight Lounge.

The next morning Kiana suggest to her sister to start dating. If her love life is so perfect there’s no reason her big sister’s life shouldn’t be.
Kia: Have you ever thought of dating, Janie? Why don’t you look for someone?
Janessa: How could I do that to Kaden? I can’t just start dating and bring people in and out of his life?
K: Maybe you don’t have to introduce him to every guy you date, but you should try it out, you deserve to be happy.
J: I am happy, I’m saving up to buy a bakery, and I have you and Kaden, and a great dog and a relatively nice trailer. I’m happy just with that.
K: All I’m saying, is that you deserve to fall in love again, Janie.

Kiana: Thanks for tonight, it was great.
Kiley: Don’t thank me, it’s your turn to pay, I just suggested this place.
Kia: As long as you’re still paying for our one-year-anniversary then I will gladly pay for tonight.
Kil: I feel like you’re expecting a lot on our one-year.
Kia: Oh I am. I think there should be cake, and wine, and maybe an elephant to carry us to our table. Oh, and a piano player and maybe a magician, oh, and you’ll need to be there too, of course.
Kil: Yes, because what’s a one-year-anniversary without half the relationship?
Kiana pays the waitress and kisses Kiley on her cheek.
Kia: I love you, you know that right?
Kil: No, not at all. Never could I have known that fact.
Kiley pulls Kiana into a full blown kiss, both of them ignoring the rest of the diner around them.

Kiana turns around to head back to her girlfriend and notices her mother following her. Kia sits down beside Kiley who’s already finished her food and is on her phone.
Kia: Mom, this is Kiley, my girlfriend.
Maeve: Your... It’s nice to meet you.
Kil: You too.
Kia: Mom, it’s been great to see you, but I’m kind of on a date, so I’ll see you later. Don’t be afraid to stop by the trailer.
Maeve: Of course. I’m on one too, it’s nice to see you’re doing so well.
Kia: See ya.
Kil: Nice meeting you.
Once Maeve is gone Kiana sighs a breath of relief. That was so awkward.

Kiley pushes Kiana to talk to her mother, so Kia walks over and Maeve hugs her.
Maeve: Look at you, you’re all grown up. You’re so beautiful, how’s your sister? And my grandson? She won’t pick up my calls.
Kia: Mom, slow down. I’m fine, and so is Janie and Kaden. They’re good, and I’m good, and we’re happy where we are.
Maeve: Happy? In that tiny little trailer? How can you be happy with so little space?
Kia: You know where we live? Of course, you do, you have people for that... If you know where we are why haven’t you ever come visit? If you really want to talk to us or see your grandson nobody is stopping you from coming over.
Maeve: After we left things, with the way you spoke to me, I was sure you wouldn’t want me around.
Kia: We don’t, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try. You’re still our mother.

Kiley: Ana, is that your mother, over there, on a date with someone?
Kia: I wouldn’t be surprised, honestly, it’s been two, almost three years since she divorced my father. I wonder if they’re still living together.
Kil: You really haven’t talked to them since you moved into your sister’s trailer?
Kia: They’ve tried emailing and texting me, but I have nothing to say to them. They’re not the best parents. They might be the worst.
Across the diner, Maeve looks over at them and Kiley waves. Kiana looks away, hoping that her mother doesn’t recognize her new look. She’s grown out her hair and started wearing makeup; she’s not that quiet little 14-year-old girl anymore.

Kiley and Kiana have been dating for a while now, and they’ve given up trying to keep it a secret from anybody. Kiley’s little brother blabbed to her father who hates it, but deals with it, and Janessa actually encourages Kia to follow her heart. Kiana has lived her whole life putting everybody around her before herself, especially her family. That’s starting to end a Kiana comes more and more out of her shell.
Kiley: Pancakes for dinner is actually a great idea. Maybe we should have burgers and fries for breakfast tomorrow.
Kia: Oh, yes because I want to eat a plate full of grease and oil first thing in the morning.
Kil: Okay, maybe it’s not the best idea.
Kia: Pancakes is always a good idea.

The next morning when everybody wakes up Oliver is asleep in the middle of the living room floor, not moving, not breathing.
Kiana shouts for her sister and ends up waking Kaden up too. Janessa runs into the living room and hugs her sister.
J: It’s going to be okay, Kia, I’ll handle it.
K: Since I was six, he was my best friend. He heard all my secrets and caught all my tears.
J: Look, I’ve got it, okay, just take the day off school, go back to bed, I’ll call you i sick, okay?
K: Can I have Kiley over?
J: You can have anything today, Kia.
