*🌻 OUR DAILY BREAD 🍞* Saturday, 2nd July, 2022. 💊 TODAY'S TOPIC: _*SURVIVING AND THRIVING*_ *Today's Scripture & Insight:* Ephesians 4:4–16. *Bible in a Year:* Job 22–24; Acts 11. *🔑 Key Verse:* _"The whole body . . . grows and builds itself up in love." *Ephesians 4:16*_ *📙 The MESSAGE:* The Croods, an animated caveman family, believe that “the only way to survive is if the pack [their small family] stays together.” They’re afraid of the world and others, so when looking for a safe place to live they’re filled with fear after discovering a strange family already in the area they’ve chosen. But they soon learn to embrace the differences of their new neighbors, draw strength from them, and survive together. They find that they actually enjoy them and that they do need others to live life fully. It can be risky to be in relationship—people can and do hurt us. Yet it’s for good reason God put His people together in a body, the church. In fellowship with others, we grow to maturity (Ephesians 4:13). We learn to depend on Him to help us be “humble and gentle” and “patient” (v. 2). We help each other by building each other up “in love” (v. 16). When we gather together, we use our gifts and learn from others who use theirs, which in turn equips us in our walk with God and service for Him. As He leads you, look for your place among God’s people if you haven’t found it yet. You’ll do more than survive; in shared love you’ll bring honor to God and grow to be more like Jesus. There’s no place like home.” Those unforgettable lines spoken by Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz reveal a story-telling device found in an overwhelming number of our most enduring stories from the likes of Star Wars to The Lion King. It’s known as “the hero’s journey.” In brief: an ordinary person is living an ordinary life when an extraordinary adventure is presented. The character leaves home and travels to a different world where tests and trials await, as well as mentors and villains. If she or he passes the tests and proves heroic, then the final stage is returning home with stories to tell and wisdom gained. The last piece is crucial. The story of the demon-possessed man closely parallels the hero’s journey. It’s interesting that in last scene the man begged Jesus to let him “go with him” (Mark 5:18). When she got the news of giving birth to a son, she went all the way to visit Elizabeth. With humility, she lived there for three months. Even if she knew what she carried was greater, she never looked down on Elizabeth. Today, make us humble like your mother. When blessings overflow, may we be humble all the more. 🍞_Our Daily Bread :: Fri. 20 May, 2022_🍞 *Be Humble!* *Today’s Scripture :* 1 Peter 5:5 NKJV ...... Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” *Today’s Word :* In Daniel 4, King Nebuchadnezzar looked out over his magnificent city and said, "Is not this the great Babylon I have built as the royal residence, by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty?" His attitude was, "Look at me. It is my power, my might, my majesty, my skill, my ability." The problem is that we aren't created to take the glory; we're created to give God the glory. God will show you His favour as long as you're letting His glory flow through you up to Him. But the moment you start keeping the glory, it will leave you, which is exactly what happened to Nebuchadnezzar. Be careful to give God the glory for your accomplishments. God opposes the proud. Always be humble and say, "God, it was Your goodness that got me to where I am, that delivered me from the mistakes I made, that kept the opposition from defeating me, and that opened the doors of opportunity. Thank You." When you give God the credit, He'll take you further than you ever dreamed - be humble always in what you do! *Reflection:* Is the life to you're leading an example of what today's Scripture talks about? Offer God a sacrifice worthy His Name 2 chronicles 7:1-16 1. When Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the temple.. 2. And the priests could not enter the temple because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lord's house 4. Then the king and all the people offered a sacrifice of 22,000 bulls and 120 sheep, so the king and all the people dedicated the house of God 7. Furthermore, Solomon dedicated the middle court for there he offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. 8. The king kept the feast seven days. 9. Then they observed the dedication of the altar seven days and the feast seven days. 12. Then the Lord appeared to Solomon by night and said, " I have heard your prayer, and I have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. 13. When I shut the heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send the pestilence among My people, 14. If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and forgive their sins and heal their land. A sacrifice is an act of giving something valuable that is given up inorder to get a more valuable thing. Give God a sacrifice worth His name. A sacrifice is represented by surrender. It's giving up something. It's a way of worship. Worship God in a worthy manner. Reverence God with all we are or we have. It's bringings God honor. A great sacrifice open the heaven and gives our prayer a platform. Solomon gave a sacrifice that is way, way high by all means even in the present times. Not only did He give material things, he also offered a very high praise and spent months not days dedicating the temple & worshipping God. Open heaven His sacrifice touched heavens, God appeared personally to Him and committed Himself to hear and answer any prayer that would be offered from the temple. He committed also to answer/attend to anyone who would seek Him from that altar. Create a memorial The sacrifice was an everlasting memorial.
