Revelations
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tensions were rising within the house. Arguments were becoming more and more frequent and heated, especially between Fletcher and Andrew. The father had been shouting and intimidating his son as soon as he woke up to when he went to bed.
This led to a secret collusion between Jordan and Andrew. Either one would go and seek the other after an argument with Fletcher, to basically therapize and talk smack. Jordan had practically permanently moved into the master bedroom, which seemed to be the last boundary Fletcher respected as he wouldn't step foot in the room. This led to her and Andrew spending most of their time together in there.
That day started out like any other, and while the two sat in the bedroom in a heated debate, Andrew proposed another meeting location for that night. Fletcher would be leaving for some business gala or meeting, leaving the house void of his presence for the rest of the day and night. So he suggested they meet on the balcony because he needed to tell her some stuff that was best said where there was fresh air to keep her cool.
So there they were that very night. Jordan sat and listened as Andrew dropped truth bomb after bomb.
Andrew: My dad has always wanted a girl. That weird room with the computer and everything was supposed to be a room for my sister. Obviously, that never came into being, cause my mum left him. I always feel like that's why he's so angry towards me, I was the one thing he didn't want.
Jordan: And your mum?
Andrew: *shrugs* I don't know where she is. I don't care. She left me with him, despite leaving him because of how he behaves. She left me to put up with it, I suspect as a barrier, cause if I wasn't around he would have probably focused his energy on trying to find her.
Jordan: Oh wow.
Andrew: Yeah, instead he's spent his time plotting how to make my life hell because I'm a boy. I really don't know what he expected me to do about that but here we are. Oh and another thing.
Jordan: *shyly laughs* Ugh how can there be even more.
Andrew: *grimaces and nods* Sorry but yeah there's so much more. Especially concerning you. So first of all, he's only proposed to you to kind of make you his 'trophy wife'. When he first started dating you he was phoning all his high-up friends and bragging. If he was holding his drink parties he'd be showing off pics of you, and inviting them to the office so they could see you at work.
Jordan: What... the f*ck
She couldn't hide her devastation at this point and held her head in her hands.
Andrew: I know, I'm sorry. This next bit is even worse, and super embarrassing for me too.
She rested her head on her knees and turned to look at him.
Andrew: *winces* So... I had a major crush on you in high school. When you aged up and everything, got the job, he came home talking about you. His description sounded familiar, so I stupidly, joined in on the conversation, I showed him your simstagram and stuff. He was asking how I knew you and everything, I don't know why but I was honest with him. I think cause it was the first time he'd had a proper conversation with me in years, I hate to say it but I was a bit desperate.
Jordan: W-what are you saying?
Andrew: I think he wanted you as his trophy wife, but also as a last one up over me.

Father’s Daughter
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jordan once again had a surprise visit from another parent the next day. She'd been awoken by the knocking on the door, after sleeping in the master bedroom, away from Fletcher. She rushed quickly down the stairs after seeing her father through the glass and ushered him in.
Hobie: I've been sent by your mother
Jordan rolled her eyes as they both sat on one of the living room sofas.
Hobie: Don't worry, I'm not going to be anywhere near as serious.
He said with a wink, as Jordan smiled back at him. Instead, he started being incredibly soppy, initiating a conversation full of nostalgia while he told Jordan what it was like to watch her grow up.
Hobie: You were such a sweet young girl, but, you also had plenty of attitude. You always knew what you wanted and how to get it. I spent so much time wondering how I managed to raise such a passionate, intelligent little thing. I've always been so immensely proud of you, and your determination. You've never let anything stop you and I admire you so much for that.
Jordan: And?
Hobie: And... I don't want the thing to slow you down to be a man. When you were growing up, I had all these brilliant visions of you in the future, strutting along, making your dreams come true. I always thought you'd have everyone bending to fit your every whim, but maybe that's because you've always had me wrapped around your finger.
He gestured grandly as he talked, while Jordan just stared lovingly at him. She was always more of a daddy's girl, he knew how to talk to her and always understood her. If the talk with her mother wasn't a wake-up call, this conversation happening right now sure was.
Hobie: And I'll be honest with you, he was a right wanker about my piercings. So, he's never going to be in my good books.
Jordan: *laughs* yeah dad, don't worry. I think I know what I'm going to do. Please, tell mum she doesn't need to worry, I'm going to figure it out.
Hobie looked at her proudly, nodding.
Hobie: That's my girl
He excused himself, leaving before anyone else in the house even woke up. Jordan crept back upstairs and into the master bedroom, making sure to try and appear as if she'd been in there the whole time. She ruffled her hair and climbed back into bed.
Strangely, this was the best she'd felt in a long while. She felt self-assured and knew what needed to be done. When she was going to carry out her plan, was the biggest mystery, even to herself.

The Aftermath
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The morning after the party, Kendra surprised Jordan by showing up unannounced. She asked if there was somewhere quiet they could talk, and Jordan brought them upstairs into the master bedroom. They sat on the small sofa, and Kendra started to talk, with a stern look on her face.
Kendra: Jordan, I'm going to be honest with you, I hate that man. I am really worried about you, and I don't want you to marry him.
Jordan: I know he didn't give off a good first impression, but I swear he's not normally like that.
Kendra: There's a bad first impression, and then there's flirting with your own staff.
Jordan: Oh, you saw that?
Kendra: Yes, and it's clear you did too. Sweetheart, you don't deserve that kind of treatment, and I know I raised you better than to accept that. If I didn't, then I have failed you as a mother, so please, tell me I'm right.
Jordan: *sighs* yes, you did raise me better than that. Trust me, I feel like I'm letting you down.
Kendra: Oh darling, you know that's not what I want from this. I want you to be happy.
Jordan: I am happy, or I was happy. I don't know what's gotten over him recently. He used to be so nice and kind, loving, perfect to me. Over the last few months he's, I don't know, basically deteriorated. But I still love him, I don't know what's wrong with me.
Kendra: There is nothing wrong with you sweetheart, you can't help how you feel, but you can help how you are treated. I'll leave it to you to figure it out, I don't want to be nagging you or anything. I just want you to know you can always come to me.
Their conversation was interrupted by the sounds of shouting coming from downstairs. Andrew and Fletcher were arguing, loudly. Most of it seemed to be coming from Fletcher, antagonising Andrew about not having a job. The language was getting fouler and more aggressive as time went on, so Kendra excused herself.
Kendra: Jordan darling, all I'll say is that we haven't moved anything out of your bedroom. You can come back whenever you want.
With that, Jordan helped sneak her mother out the front door and made her way to the kitchen. Thankfully, the argument had broken up as quickly as it started, and the two men had made their way to opposite corners of the house. That left Jordan alone, to clean up the mess left behind from the night before. She remembered that Fletcher had promised to help during the lead-up to the party, but she thought better than to ask.
She'd rather have the time to herself to ponder the choices she's going to need to make.

The Party
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Later that week, Jordan started prepping for the party. She did her makeup and put on the dress that Fletcher had specifically bought for her. They had a small argument over it, as she felt it was a bit weird for her to wear such a tight, revealing dress when it was just a simple family affair. Fletcher argued that no one would care because of that fact, and that he just wanted her to embrace her beauty and show off.
To save a full-on fight, Jordan agreed to wear the dress, which she regretted each time the corset was pulled tighter and tighter. She felt self-conscious but didn't want to bring the mood down as she poured out drinks waiting for everyone to arrive. She'd spent the night before prepping meals, making tacos of both the fish and tofu variety. Despite that, Fletcher still hired a chef that very morning, which admittedly left Jordan feeling hurt. She noticed that as soon as the chef came in, Fletcher's attention was immediately divided. She'd notice how he would stare, almost hungrily at her, which was quite disturbing with the woman's elderly age.
She buried it down with a smile as she ushered her family through the front door into the kitchen. She felt immediately relaxed as she settled into the familiar banter with her brother, and talked endlessly with her mother and father. Jordan even had the act of complete surprise to distract her, finding out her mother was pregnant and somewhere between her second and third trimesters. She was so excited for her parents and thrilled that she would have another sibling soon.
Her joy was soon interrupted when she overheard Fletcher making flirty comments to the chef, who thankfully looked like she was trying her best to ignore him and get on with her work. She felt her heart sink to the pit of her abdomen, she couldn't even tell if she was still breathing. It felt like time had stopped, and she had tunnel vision, magnifying the image of Fletcher trying to hit on the poor old woman just doing her job. Her brother distracted her when he started trying to talk to her again, and not long after Fletcher pulled her aside.
She felt sick, she was so uncomfortable, she could barely look at him. Then, he started to get down on one knee, Jordan couldn't believe he was doing this here and now. She had never felt more humiliated in her life. She was completely put on the spot, and didn't know what to do, she didn't even know if she wanted to be with this man. He asked her to marry him, but the words seemed to drool out of his mouth at a snail's pace. Jordan quickly nodded, putting on a smile and allowing him to kiss her and put the ring on.
Everyone congratulated them, cheers were called out with drinks, and the night continued. Jordan just wished it would all end, she needed it all to stop. She wanted everyone out of her house, she wanted to scream and cry. She wanted to go home, but this WAS her home. Jordan was lost.

Settling In
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It had been a few months of living together, and everything was going smoothly. Sure, it was interesting trying to develop a friendly basis with Andrew, who she recognised from high school. It was difficult to comprehend going from being a couple of years apart and seeing each other in the corridors, to now being stepmother and stepchild.
For what it's worth, Andrew wasn't resentful or angry about it, and was in fact very sweet to her. He helped her move in more than Fletcher, who dashed off to work in the middle of the process. He always greeted her with a smile when she walked in the door from work, which was definitely needed on a day like today. Jordan had received the call from her parents that both her beloved childhood pets had been put down, as they were just too old.
Andrew had immediately noticed something was wrong as she walked in. Jordan was just relieved someone had finally asked, and let it all out on him as he comforted her. After he told her where Fletcher was so she wouldn't have to hunt around the large house for him.
She crept into the 'computer' room as she deemed it. It was by far her least favourite room in the house. It was decked in pastel pink decorations, with a single bed, and the house's computer on a desk with a bright pink child's seat tucked in the corner. Something about it was just so creepy, and Fletcher always seemed to be a different person whenever he was in it.
As per usual, whenever she said anything to Fletcher while he was in the room, he barely responded with a grunt of acknowledgement.
Jordan: My dogs were put down today
Fletcher: Mm
Jordan: I'm... I don't know how to feel. I'm sad, I didn't get to say goodbye. I was at the office all day. My parents left a voicemail.
Fletcher: Mm
Jordan: I was thinking, you haven't met them yet. I reckon we should host a dinner party, or a get-together. Something like that, so all of us can mingle.
Fletcher: Mhm
Jordan: It would be nice, just to distract from the loss as well I suppose. I'd love to see my mum and dad away from the beach, just once.
Fletcher: Yes. You do that.
She shyly nodded, before creeping out and gently closing the door. That was the most she was going to get out of him as long as he was in that room. Instead, she went down to the kitchen to face-time her best friend Zuri. They caught up about everything, Zuri begging her to hook her up with one of Fletcher's business pals. After that, Jordan phoned her family to invite them all round for dinner, begging her mum to bring bakery items.

A week after Jordan's procedure, she received a call from Fletcher. He invited her out to dinner, a very expensive dinner she gathered, from the name of the restaurant he gave, 'The Chez Llama'.
Once they arrived, he ordered for her. He picked the wine, the appetizers and the mains, vouching that she would love it. Jordan was surprised by the appearance of the food, especially her space taco. The textures and taste were... interesting to say the least. She couldn't help but think about how much she preferred her mum's home cooking. Nothing beats a classic chilli bowl or her yummy meringue pies.
Fletcher: It's delicious isn't it
Jordan: Hm... oh uh, yes, of course
Fletcher: See, I told you to trust me ordering. I always know what to get everyone, dare I say I know their tastes better than themselves
Jordan: Uh huh, of course
She laughed shyly, knowing that she needed to invite him around hers while her mum was in one of her baking sprees. Whilst they ate and drank, he mentioned the fact he was a shareholder in the restaurant. With more and more hints, it became clear that he was a significant shareholder, and could basically do whatever he wanted.
With that, he led her to the balcony to show her the surrounding sites of the city. Maybe it was the wine, but Jordan was certainly feeling flirty and didn't turn down any propositions he made while they were up there. It certainly made her feel good that a man like Fletcher wanted to show his love for her so publicly.
That meant she didn't second guess when he asked her to move in with him. He went on a whole spiel about how he'd never felt this way about someone before, that she was different to all other women he'd ever known and more.
Had their relationship only been going on for around a month? Was this the first 'boyfriend' Jordan had ever had? Yes to both those questions. But surely what she'd been feeling whenever she was around him, and whenever she thought about him, must be love. And if she was in love, what was so wrong with moving in with him?

About a week later, Jordan's period was late. Jordan was a woman of routine, as was her menstrual cycle, so she knew something was up. Despite knowing Fletcher had used a condom (she saw him put them on) she couldn't shirk the possibility from her mind.
She sat on the toilet in her home's dingy bathroom and took the test. She stared at the test, as the control line slowly developed followed by- no. No way. She can't be.
But there, despite all her desperate pleas for it to not be, were two lines on the test. Two pink lines were proudly presented against the white background.
She had work in a few hours, but this couldn't happen. She can't have a baby now, she only just got this job. Jordan paced aimlessly in the bathroom. She knew what had to be done.
She opened her phone. She made the appointment. She ran out of the house.
At the end of all of it, Jordan had a wave of relief wash over her. Not pregnant, and home with 2 hours to spare before her shift. Would she tell anyone? No. She felt secure in her decision, there was no point in telling anyone else as it wasn't their business. Did this include Fletcher? Jordan still wasn't sure about that.
At the end of the day, their 'relationship' didn't even have a label, she didn't even know if they'd do it again. As far as she knew, he probably did that to every new girl in the office. He probably would appreciate not having another baby mother if that was the case. He already had a son, who was just barely younger than her, so he probably wouldn't want to be thrown back into full-blown parenthood.
Jordan reaffirmed herself with this constantly as she got changed for work, and headed out the front door. All she had to do was focus, and not look away from her screen.

Soon after ageing up, Jordan applied for her first job as an "Assistant to the Manager". After a few days of work, she received a mysterious call, the voice on the other end of the phone introducing himself as her new boss, the company's President.
He invited her to his house, stating that he likes to get familiar with all new employees, after all, the company is a "family".
As soon as she arrived, she was intimidated by the grandeur in front of her. A massive, grandiose old money house, Jordan didn't even want to begin to estimate the cost.
After knocking and entering, and some small talk, her boss's intentions became all too clear, or Fletcher Garfield's intentions she now knew. He admitted, he'd seen her on the new staff roster and looked up her work profile. He'd started taking more and more trips into the office, just to watch her from a distance.
He said he'd been too shy to introduce himself, laughing as he said it
Fletcher: Imagine, me, the president of THE company, and you had me that flustered.
Jordan couldn't help but be flattered. There was this rich, powerful, and she won't lie to herself, good-looking man, and he wanted HER? She'd never had a boyfriend before, not even a crush, she'd been so focused on her education and getting experience she'd never considered it.
SO, she gave over into her primal urges.
After all, what could go wrong?

Robin was the first out of the siblings to recover after their grandmother's death. All that therapeutic instrument-playing helped him process at record speed. Jordan however, was still an absolute mess after a few weeks, with her birthday coming up soon.
Robin: Have you ever been to the waterfall?
Jordan: I mean, I've been near it picking up rubbish and stuff, I've never actually been in it, I've always had other stuff to do.
Robin: Well, how about we go together, it's a perfect day. We should have some time outside.
They swam across the small stretch of sea to get to the cove. Once there, Jordan paused to ask what now. Before she could even get her words out, Robin immediately ambushed her with a torrent of water. She spluttered before splashing him back as soon as she recovered, initially angry and confused, before beginning to laugh and smile.
After hours of play, exploring and frog-watching, Jordan finally felt something shift inside her. Though she'll always miss her grandmother, she knows her family will always be there to support her and help her through anything.

The next day after visiting her family, Kendra got the call that her mother had died. Jordan and Robin were at school, and Hobie was off doing some odd job. To cut a long story short, she was devastated, and no one would be around for a few hours to share her devastation.
In order to stop feeling, she headed straight into her room. Initially, she started staring at the ceiling, feeling numb, then rolled over and stared at the wall, until she fell asleep.
Meanwhile, at school, Jordan was barely keeping herself together. She kept on a brave front throughout her lessons, allowing herself to cry during any breaks, and if needed, ran to the bathroom. Zuri was so worried about her that she kept herself in close contact with her at all times. At the end of the school day, she volunteered to go back with Jordan to make sure she would be okay.
Robin kept to himself every day at school anyway, so no one really noticed any difference. At lunch, he would sit with Zuri, Eddie and Jordan, and due to Jordan's emotional state, he could put his own emotions aside to help support her. As soon as they got home, he beelined straight upstairs, and into his room, slamming the door shut.
Jordan and Zuri sat outside, playing chess in near silence, with the occasional sentence every now and then passing between the two. Zuri had no idea how to play chess, but she knew it would take Jordan's mind off everything just for a little while, so she was willing to learn. It was while they were playing that they heard some very gentle violin playing above them from the house. Jordan didn't respond, but Zuri was automatically entranced.
Jordan: That's my brother, he plays a different instrument every night. It helps him cope.
Zuri: And you play chess, to each their own I guess. Has he always been this good? He's never said anything.
Jordan: He's been playing since he was a kid, so practice makes perfect I guess. Anyways, checkmate.
Kendra stirred from her slumber, rubbing her eyes and slowly getting up. The further she crawled up and out the more the grief and sadness pressed on her with a deep weight. The only thing that could keep her moving was the music crooning out of Robin's bedroom.
She slowly creaked the door open as she peaked at Robin through the small gap at first, watching him lost in his music. When she realised he hadn't noticed her, she crept further into his room, to fully watch and appreciate his talent. Her grief was momentarily replaced with pride, while she watched him play solemn melody after melody. His eyes were closed as his hands effortlessly slid up and down the strings as he improvised to fit his raw emotions. Kendra knew after all of this that she and her family would be okay and that she had succeeded in raising at least one emotionally mature child.

Kendra got a call out of the blue from Marielle, asking her if she wanted to come over and meet her nephew. She immediately said yes and dashed out of the house straight to Oasis Springs.
She was greeted at the door with a warm hug, and she chatted away with her sister. Eventually, her mother brought a small bundle out of the house. Gabriella gently handed over the infant to Kendra, telling her his name, Jung, while Kendra stared adoringly at him.
He’d inherited his father’s blonde hair, she recognised that from the photos Marielle had shown her of her husband. He had a sweet little button nose, and his mothers eyes and skin.
She cradled him gently, cuddling him close to her chest as she bobbed him up and down. She had flashbacks of doing the same with Robin and Jordan, cherishing the memories. She was so excited for Marielle to experience the joy of watching her little one grow, thinking of how quickly time had passed. Jordan’s birthday was in a few days time, and she’d be aging into a young adult. Long gone were the days where she could cuddle and hold her close, she was terrified and excited for what the future would bring for her firstborn.
Eventually she handed Jung back to her sister, wishing her luck and giving her some parting parenting advice, before leaving to head back home. She needed to get back and finish the meringue pie she was in the middle of preparing when she got the call, and then set up the cafe’s display. After that, it would be time to make Jordan’s birthday cake, a white chocolate and strawberry sponge.
As she mixed, baked, stacked and decorated, she was on autopilot, her mind away with the fairies reminiscing on Jordan’s childhood. She was always an intelligent and bright young lady, which a bright future ahead of her. Kendra couldn’t be prouder of her, she thought as she stuck candles into the soft, fluffy matter, before putting it in the fridge.

Kendra got a call from her closest friend Tanvi Trivedi, letting her know she'd recently adopted a baby. She of course immediately came over, introducing herself to the little one, and taking the chance to have a long overdue catch-up with Tanvi.
As she looked down at the little girl, she started to reminisce about her own family. Her mother was an elder, and she didn't really see any siblings outside of Beau too often. She was close with Tricia as they grew up, being the little sibling who would follow Tricia around the house endlessly. She always looked up to her, and Tricia was always eager to show off whatever new sport she was learning, and the tricks that came with it. She and Beau were closest in age, so they were basically attached at the hip.
However, when it came to Marielle, things were rocky. Her mum and dad became pregnant with her not long after her grandfather Miguel had passed, and she was so much younger than all of them. She was already a teen by the time Marielle was midway through toddlerhood, and by the time she was a child, Kendra viewed her as a constant annoyance. After having time to think about it when she moved out and they could finally spend time apart, Kendra knew the cause behind their 'feud'.
Though she wasn't asked to, Kendra would clean around the house, tend to the garden, cook and bake for everyone, so that her mum and dad wouldn't have to fret. They had two elders in the house to help, and Beau was still young, and then Marielle came along, they didn't have much time for other homely duties. She knew this wasn't Marielle's fault, but she couldn't help but feel some resentment. It wasn't until she moved away that she understood it was her parents' failures that led to her having so much responsibility.
So, she took it upon herself to invite everyone around hers, with the promise of cake and fresh bread, for a family reunion of sorts. With a pang of guilt, she realised as well that some of the anger that she had built up towards Marielle was because she was the sibling that looked most like their father. She knew it wasn't rational, but their father had died a while ago, and she didn't know how she'd respond to seeing such a look-alike after all this time.
They all arrived, and Kendra hesitantly greeted Marielle, who just as hesitantly greeted her back. It was immediately obvious she was pregnant, and with some small talk, she quickly learnt she was married too. With all this sudden news, Kendra realised how much she must have hurt Marielle, by not being invited to the wedding, nor told about the pregnancy. She took a deep breath and unleashed the most heartfelt apology she could muster without crying. Marielle stood there stunned, before nodding, and smiling.
Marielle herself admitted that she understood how hard it must have been for Kendra, and that she harboured resentment to her for not spending time with her like her other siblings did when she was young. She understood now that it was because Kendra was forced to become an extra adult in the house way before her time. She invited Kendra to feel her belly and told her the gender as well as the name she and her husband had in mind.
When the reunion came to an end, Kendra and Marielle swore to keep in touch, parting with a loving hug, and an exchange of numbers.
