I very much identify with Dex. The depiction of his BPD was very well done and reflected a lot of situations that I have experienced being diagnosed with the same mental illness.

For me it was great to see that with therapy, meds, and people who understand me I was able to not get dragged down. I had a few hickups on my way (no, not murder or assault or anything violent), but I am doing so much better now.

I could root for him to get better, I was heartbroken feeling the pain he went through, and I was relieved that I know I didn’t end up as “broken” like him.

Season 3 was one of my favorite shows of all time. Not only in the Marvel universe, but overall. It left a deep impression on me and a good feeling of being understood.

Q: On that note, how does Dex’s development into Bullseye play into the season’s larger themes?

A: I love origin stories, and this character ends up becoming an iconic villain in the Daredevil pantheon, but I wanted to start him from a human place. What makes a character like that into a villain? There’s a version of Dex who could have been an upstanding member of society, saving people’s lives as a sharp-shooter in the FBI SWAT team. But because of the corrosive nature of Fisk, Dex is instead drawn to the dark side, and there are a lot of otherwise decent people in today’s society who are unfortunately being called to the darkness by people who appeal to their worst impulses. I very much wanted to tell a story about a borderline personality and a character who’s afraid to be his true self. Honestly, I think that he’s one of those guys who would have marched through Charlottesville with a tiki torch. He once could have been a decent, solid member of society and put those fears aside, but when somebody appealed to those fears, and manipulated those fears, he instead ended up becoming a villain.

He is such a sweetheart, and even though he teaches cocky S-Level hunters some humility I have never seen him being disrespectful to women. (Though the interaction is only with Laura and Norma.)

I think that is also kind of the responsibility he took on. I don't want to imagine a world where S-Level Hunter would just roam free without someone to fear when they step too far out of line. Kind of the bully who bullies the bullies.

A shame that we don't see him with tattoos in this timeline, but maybe he will get them when he returns in SL Ragnarok. Damn, a 70 year old Thomas Andre Zaddy needs to be drawn.

I.... have to say that Marvel really surprises me with their new content and it seems like they want to create a cinematic universe 2.0. Introducing new characters / teams that can stand alone.

Chang-Chi seems to be a movie that has a rough street fighter hero theme, more colourful, but as grounded in “reality” as the Netflix series. No people flying around, no magic hammers, no sorcery, no laser weapons, no high-tech amor, just people using their fists.

That is what I missed in the MCU movies, That is why I always wanted to see a Black Widow movie. That is why CA:TWS is my absolute favourite MCU movie. That is why I can’t wait to see the Hawkeye series.
