Nothing like a little string slap for a short, sharp lesson in proper archery form. 50 pounds is no fucking joke.

Update: My partner J and I are moving to Norway, permanently, in a few weeks. I am excite.
Homesick for Norway
So I’m posting some pictures I found on google images of Norwegian things.

Cabins used for short-term wilderness trips, called “hytte” (cognate of “hut”)

Galdhøpiggen, the highest mountain in Norway and indeed all of northern Europe.

The majestik møøse (Alces alces) (a møøse once bit my sister)

May 17th parade, commemorating the signing of our constitution at Eidsvoll in 1814.

Our traditional festive clothing, called bunad. Each region has their own bunad, and there are often variations within the region. These images are for my region, Trøndelag.

How we deal with snow. None of those dinky little F150s with a little scraper bolted onto the front that can barely handle a couple of inches, we’re serious about clearing that shit off the road.

Oh, that does sound like useful advice. I’ve used tape when drilling wood for much the same reason, but I hadn’t thought of the metal trick.

Even better: my youngest brother, who is a contractor, has said he wants us to try hand-making some recurves when we move to Norway. We’re moving to Norway October 18th this year, so 3 weeks at the time of writing this post.
Been watching a bunch of videos by bowyers, little did I know heat alone is apparently enough to bend a wood permanently. Makes sense, I would speculate that the heat is what makes the cellulose temporarily more ductile or something like that.

Also I named her Wid-doe-er, pronounced widower. Because if I bag a buck, his wife will become a ... wid-doe.

Turns out that was good advice, 25 inches is exactly right for my draw, the tip is an inch past the rest at that length, and my grouping at 10 meters hits around 15cm.

With the help of one of my wives, I was able to determine that my draw length is 25″, so the arrows I have left are being snipped accordingly.

... and then this. I grind the shafts down to 330 grains, and ... the lengths are very dissimilar. Maybe I shouldn’t go with the cheapest possible arrows next time

How frustrating. I’m trying to sell my camera (Canon EOS Rebel T8i) but every single offer has involved the same “send a money request to verifymyscam at hotmail dot com, then send me shipping confirmation, and you’ll get your money”
Bullshit. You give me money, I give you thing. That’s how buying has worked since money was invented 5000 years ago.
