Sinigang blog

Sinigang is a sour soup native to the Philippines. This recipe uses pork as the main ingredient. Other proteins and seafood can also be used. Beef, shrimp, fish are commonly used to cook sinigang. The chicken version, on the other hand, is called sinampalukang manok. I prefer to use either pork belly or buto-buto when cooking sinigang. The latter refers to cuts with bones intact. These are either pork neck bones, chopped spare ribs, and chopped baby back ribs. Pork shoulder and ham can also be used when cooking sinigang.

Sinigang na baboy with Gabi is a Filipino pork soup with taro cooked in a sour broth. Sinigang is my comfort food, and one of the first few dishes that I tried to make way back when I was starting to learn how to cook. The quality of this dish depends on the souring agent. This is the ingredient that makes the soup sour. The most common and widely used is unripe tamarind. It is known as sampaloc in the Philippines. Other fruits such as guava, tomato, bilimbi or kamias, green mango, pineapple, and wild mangosteen or santol can be used to make the sinigang taste sour.

Sinigang na Hipon is a type of Filipino sour soup, wherein shrimp is used as the main ingredient. This dish also includes a variety of vegetables such as daikon radish, snake beans, okra, and eggplant. This dish is best served during cold weather. It is best enjoyed hot with a cup of white rice.
How to Cook Sinigang na Hipon
This dish is quick and easy to cook. Start by boiling around 2 quarts of water in a pot. I add the daikon radish, tomato, and onion once the water starts to boil. Continue to cook for 5 to 8 minutes.
The fresh shrimp is added afterwards. Make sure to clean the shrimp before cooking. Wash the shrimp thoroughly and devein, if possible. Fresh shrimp with head attached is perfect for sinigang. The head is full of flavorful. It helps improve the taste of the broth.

Sinigang na Bangus or Sinigang na isda is a traditional Filipino Food. The main ingredient of this soup dish is milkfish (this is locally known as Bangus) — although you can use any type of fish that you desire.

Compared to ordinary fish sinigang, this sinigang na bangus sa miso has richer flavor. There is an element of umami (savoriness) in every bite. The miso (or soybean paste) is regarded in adding the interesting flavor to this dish. I like sinigang, in general. Sinigang na Bangus sa Miso is my favorite among all the seafood sinigang dishes. I enjoy its rich taste and balanced flavor.
