I think that it's super cool (and super unhinged) that we can already come up with so many theories in regards to Tensei and his connection to Seimei. My brain is still reeling. Like, siblings maybe? Something else???

My mind is currently entertaining the idea of Seimei splitting his own soul before reincarnating, hence calling back to the Kyoto arc while also explaining why we see Seimei's soul in different spots. And it'd make sense of the "like you but not" line, and it'd be interesting if this was a case of Haru being the reincarnation that has the humanity + the power while Tensei has the youkaihood but not the power.

He supposedly appeared 1000 years ago out of nowhere and hasn't displayed any youkai powers yet, but he's immune to Haru's power but doesn't seem to be acknowledged as a god. His whole thing is manipulating others into playing out "shows" and have things play out the way he wants. His name also literally means reincarnation and has the same kanji as Saturn which is asociated with Seimei like, hello? This all makes my eyebrows raise off my face.

I don't think it would've been far off for Seimei to choose to give specific parts of himself to do certain things. Haru needs to be human with cunning and power strong enough to protect himself, but not have the clairvoyance or youkai/kitsune-side that also shaped Seimei into who he was. Haru needs blinding sincerity to be a bridge between humans and youkai and he needs to have the infectious enthusiasm and will to live through all the unknowns in life.

It'd maybe also explain parts of the Kyoto arc? Like Haru's soul needing to have grown before the gods tried taking it. Haru's personal growth = his soul growing stronger (and more whole) was due to the fact that Seimei didn't have his whole soul reincarnate into Haru in the first place.

If this theory is true, then maybe its Seimei's clairvoyance piece that ended up in Yomi (which makes sense based off Seimei's dialogue in that scene back in Kyoto). Seimei needed that part of him to die.

Tensei could be a lot of possibilities, I could be so so wrong, I'm just excited that we have this much information to work with. I don't know I'm just yapping into the void LOL

While rereading Yohaji for the billionth time again, I ran into the panel where Mama-aki tells Haruaki that he shouldn't tempt fate by placing himself into danger and that doing so is a disservice to the people that care about him, and it just piled onto my Haru-Seimei brainrot.

One of the differences between Haru and Seimei is that Haru connects to the people around him in such a personal and honest way that he ends up drawing them to him. Other characters adore him and he does so in return, they learn from him and he learns from them. As a result, he's not alone and he's able to rescue and be rescued because of a usual line of direct communication.

Abe no Seimei on the other hand is a rather lonesome figure. No one seems to know or understand what he really thought and he would often act on his own. He's never outright direct about everything, he's kind of vague. People do adore him but Seimei seems to keep them at arms length. He's willing to see the greater picture beyond him, even if it instills a grief that is carried for over a millennium.

And just from what's been set up so far, this is one of the major differences that sets apart Haru getting out of a lot of life-endangering scenarios from Seimei dying (getting killed). The Mama-aki line "Don't tempt fate" lingers in my mind just because of how tied Seimei is to it (especially with his clairvoyance). 'Don't tempt fate by acting on your own or else that might just kill you one day.' Considering the idea that Seimei most likely had a hand in his own death, I can't help but focus on this line.

Or I'm rambling about something that doesn't actually have any greater meaning and I'm just starving for more Yohaji content ToT

Is Haruaki gonna be dead (permanently) someday, not when he's old and ready to go, but right in his youth? Tanamai, you're scaring me.

If I didn't read yohaji, I would've thought it to be a manga exploring hell or the underworld (based on the ranmaru-haruaki illustration). Ranmaru looks like a guide to the underworld, and Haru looks like the soul being led on.

when the shuten-dōji ate your soul (twice), you took control and restored haruaki's and your own soul to haruaki's body. but when the 3 gods ripped your soul out, even if it was shattered to pieces, you didn't come out? i guess this was because you wanted everything to go the way you want to?

and why is there a huge difference between haruaki and seimei? sometimes, he's drawn like you would draw a living corpse, so pale and unsettling. not to mention his clairvoyance, playing everyone, gods, youkai, and humans to cater to his plans. i know someone mentioned this before (either canada or other people), i feel that the statement that haruaki is his role-playing character is somewhat true. haruaki is everything someone lonely would imagine themselves. is this what you want, seimei? is this what you think your ideal self is? did you wish that someone would take your hand like they took haruaki's?

in the kyoto arc, you're in the realm of the dead. how does that work exactly? when you've been popping now and then with haruaki's soul separated from his body. you said it yourself that haruaki is the other you, you're also the same soul, so how come at the same time you're dead?

you also said you'll see haruaki later. what later, seimei? are you going to merge, disappear, or take control of haruaki's body?

how can one human onmyouji know so much, as if fate is played by you. what are you really, seimei? a god, human, youkai, half-god and half-youkai?

everyone's acting like you're their spouse who they couldn't move on from. you're making me feel like I have a dead spouse. not only that, you're also haunting them from the grave like some eldritch horror.
