Gondwana and Laurasia (Epilogue - 2000)
Young child, you do not know the history of our world. Thus you cannot understand how it might have all been so much better.
Can you believe, that where you stand, there once stood a great city? The city where the Chinese of old ruled, and the Chinese of new aspired to rule. We used to call it Nanjing (Southern Capital), now it is just U-ozon (Warzone). When the Japanese first came, we trusted our government - a government we thought modern - to fight back, to take a capital they held so dear. Instead, the people of China decided to fight each other - based on the meaningless lines of contemporary ideology - who holds what piece of unwieldy paper.
Let me ask you a question, young one - what does it matter how much paper we hold, if we are ourselves not alive, and for those of us who are, their rights are violated? My grandmother, god bless her soul, escaped near certain death after her entire family was executed in one of those purges which happened yearly. Millions died, and they let the Japanese flood in to take over land not rightfully theirs. People who weren't from China rightfully, became the majority in our land. We are now the minority in our own city.
Thank goodness it didn't last forever. The Japanese, after making a strategic misstep and attacking the Americans at Pearl Harbor, slowly lost all their advantages in the war, being forced to retreat and eventually losing the war. The massacres stopped, but China is still not united. After the war, the Communists retreated into the North, taking over territory all the way North to Inner Mongolia, while the Kuomintang centralised control over Southern China. A splinter faction, led by Zhang Guotao, founded the state of Guotao, comprised of Xinjiang, Tibet and Gansu - a failure of a state by any definition, with ethnic uprisings and riots every day. Guotao only managed to maintain rule by bombing his cities every five months, and his son has thus far continued this trend in the establishment of a new monarchy of Guotao.
In North China, the Communists have established a fully communist state - allied with the Soviets, which is still stuck in lockstep with the United States around the world. The United States, on the other hand, has allied with the Kuomintang in South China. Both are bordered in the central of China, and a demilitarized zone has been established, with important cities like Chongqing and Shanghai being split by the borders, and walls having been built to split these cities in half. Chinese, at large, live their lives in fear of the governments they live under - both the Kuomintang and the Communists, ruled under absolute rule, have established feared secret police.
In the meanwhile, India, having gained democratic rule from the British in 1947, has managed to successfully invade Pakistan and consolidate control over both West and East Pakistan. India, now, is predominant power in Asia, while China, previously the Empire of Asia, is splintered - not just into Guotao and North/South China, but also into Hong Kong (under the British), Macau (under the Portuguese) and Taiwan, which came under Soviet rule at the end of the war, and has now been transformed into a vassal of the Soviet Union. We live our lives in fear of death and warfare - just because we, as Chinese, could not unite against a foreign invader just six short decades ago.
Let this be a lesson to you, young one. Learn about the principles of unity - that ideology matters far less than you may well think, and it is more important to protect the stability of your own livelihood. Now eat your porridge and get some sleep - your next meal won't come for another fifteen hours.

Kuomintang being pushed back in Guangxi as Communists win against Japanese in Guizhou!
The Japanese forces having blitzed through Hunan, have found significant resistance in Guizhou, as nearly 11 divisions of Communist troops routed the 2 divisions of Japanese troops which had been redirected to attack Guizhou. The Communist troops have been able to restore order across the Communist region of Guizhou, while the Japanese divisions were forced to retreat and regroup with significant losses. This adds to their recent significant victory in Gansu, to provide for a resurgent Communist Party. A total of 5 divisions, with additional troops from elsewhere, have also assaulted the Kuomintang headquarters in Guangxi, having gained some ground in Guangxi, and are now nearing the headquarters building where the leaders of the Kuomintang are presently held. The leaders of the Kuomintang are only able to hold control over the 1 division totaling 10,000 in Guangxi, and must now be looking to urgently evacuate West, to a place not yet attacked by the Japanese, but it is not yet clear if Yunnan will be amenable to the Kuomintang retreating into Yunnan. The Kuomintang may well need to take urgent action or even attempt to work with the Communist forces to escape their current predicament.

Gansu has Fallen!
Without sufficient action from the KMT, Gansu has fallen to the Communists. Provinces are falling rapidly to the Japanese. Besides fighting the war with the Japanese, the KMT needs to constantly remind themselves that they must deal wisely and effectively with the Communists, whom they are fighting a civil war against!

Chinese gains in Shaanxi and Shanxi!
The Japanese have been forced back in Shaanxi and Shanxi, as Chinese forces successfully have pushed them back in the various provinces after a mysterious reduction of Japanese forces in the region. The Japanese forces in Shaanxi were pushed back by the Communist Party, who succeeded in obtaining their old capital of Yan’an back while securing the rest of the region.
Despite this, they were unable to halt the Kuomintang from advancing North in Shanxi, succeeding in taking over Shanxi from the Japanese. With two provinces taken back from Japanese control, is Japan going to be pushed away by Chinese forces? They have overextended significantly in recent years, having tried to manage a supply line across much of coastal China.

THE PIG’S DELIVERANCE
KMT efforts to purify the waters of Guangdong and Guangxi have been met with both gratefulness and disgust. Using Jean-Antoine’s reverse osmosis machine blueprint, the bladders of pigs are used as water filtration membranes. Though this has removed most of the toxins in parts where the machines are implemented, many civilians are unsure of the use of such means. Despite this, they are most grateful for the increase in potable water, which has reduced dehydration rates by 58%.

Who bombed Hubei?
Investigations are underway as to who has bombed Hubei. Such an atrocity has enraged several commanders as they have lost their own forces as a result of the carelessness of the perpetrator.
The following statement has also been released to the public:
“Citizens of Hubei, please keep yourselves safe. Watch out for any suspicious people who could start attacking you. The council is working every hour of the day to find the culprit of these crimes.”
