Heyy i just got done with reading Heaven Cracks Beneath Our Feet and man, i was genuinely so moved, like i finished almost every chapter a little misty eyed. I wanted to ask a few things. First of all, why did you pick those specific time periods? And second of all, how do you know so much about the Korean war? Like- do you binge watch a ton of historical k-dramas or whaaaat? this cuz I'm ngl i was so invested in the plot, my side Chrome tabs looked like i was writing a thesis on Korean history. Anyway tho, the fic was genuinely life changing, and I'm being so serious when i say i owe you my first born🙏

my thought process behind the eras i chose was a little convoluted. At first, my plan was to have 7 iterations of Thanos and Namgyu at different points in history that corresponded to 3,4, and 7, and I had worked out this whole complicated thing for each period, but then I realized the story would be 1) way too confusing if there was a grand total of 9 Thanoses and Namgyus and 2) the story would be one billion words long. So, i decided to just stick to 3 versions. As nice as it would be to bring in 9 as the number of perfection, this story already has way too many Thanoses and Namgyus.

I started with the first version of them from 1590. I knew for sure i wanted to include the Imjin War, which started in 1592. I didn’t want the first versions of Namgyu and Thanos to only have a few months together, though, so i pushed back their timeline. That works, because the Korean War started in 1950! From there, my thought process was that Namgyu’s divination abilities are only strong enough to rearrange dates, not manipulate them entirely, so 1590–>1950. That also allowed for me to incorporate 74, since 2024 is 74 years after 1950 (originally, each iteration of Thanos and Namgyu had a 74 year gap between death and meeting)

I actually didn’t really know a lot about the Korean War or the Imjin War prior to doing research for this story. I just knew I wanted those wars to be a part of the story after Namgyu quoted Yi Sun-Sin in the second season.

I don’t really know anything about *any* wars lol, but i talked to my sibling about it and spent a lot of time reading online. I like kdramas, but im more of a cute, slice of life kdrama enjoyer than a dramatic war-centered kdrama enjoyer. But after writing this story, I might start watching some!

I like learning new things, so I often try to base my fanfictions on topics that I’m not very familiar with so I can learn more about something. Like right now, im writing a Thangyu fic about MMA fighting. I’ve been watching a whole bunch of UFC and ROAD FC matches. It’s surprisingly interesting!!

and all i can think about is adidas slides as this post, namgyu coming over to trip sit as normal and thanos is freaking out over namgyu being a sex worker (he’s not) so to break the tension and stall thanos starts showing namgyu how fast he can run around his apartment 😭 and namgyu is just sitting there watching thanos do laps around the living room thinking “is this dude already coked out or what”
