I wiped the face off my baby’s first custom that I did almost two years ago on g3 Core Ghoulia. I didn’t know much of anything at the time, so I didn’t put a base layer on which would lead to the paint blooming and staining over time, so I wiped her face clean to prevent that. I’ll probably use her as face-up practice for now since I’ve never done a proper one before.

I feel like you guys should know that I made a few more My Little Pony/Shadow High hybrid dolls.
Followed the general advice and their heads are all held on with bread tags!

"How do you do, fellow organic humanoids?"
Wild Petunia is a Capsule Chix head with glued yarn weft hair on a Monster High River Styxx body, currently wearing Decora Girlz Decora's clothes with Rainbow High Lila's shoes and a Barbie fashion pack baseball cap.

So I had the thought that it would make sense for there to be more than one 'Venus' at once because plants do be propagating-- but I'm not sure what to call them. Pod Squad? Spore Sisters? Open to suggestions 🌱

Putting a g1 pony style head on a doll body is something I know many aspire to, so I feel that you guys should know that The Loyal Subjects MLP heads fit on Shadow/Rainbow high bodies too. It’s a very different look than putting a g5 head on the same doll, because the size of the head makes the proportions appear so different. I think these two doll hybrids look like they’re very different ages, but a friend of mine said the g1 hybrid reminded him of Hollyhock from Bojack Horseman.
G1 hybrid’s head is held on with nothing - I’m using the hard plastic hair to balance it perfectly on the doll’s shoulders. I bet with enough hot water and prying one could remove the plastic hair and give this pony head an interesting wig.

So the LUV dolls are being discounted to $8 around my neck of the woods. I really like Londynn though and I took her with me to a concert.

Oh, my bad I shouldn't have been annoyed that these dolls are selling for the same price as the Enchanted Elegance collection.
Tumblr media
Because they actually increased the price to $80, so now they cost MORE! Wow, how worth it. They definitely look worth that price! *facepalm*
I feel like I'm going crazy seeing people love these with no complaints. They look high-end playline to me. Like the Hasbro Style Series from a few years ago. In no universe are they worth eighty freaking dollars.

I want to like these so bad. It's such a fun theme, but the execution is just....
And that price!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look at these two Ariel's and tell me they're worth the same price.

The bug girl prototypes shown at Powercon and my customs that are inspired but not quite exactly like them. Considering I spent months deciphering how the blurry images looked, and deciding to take things in my own direction, I'm really happy how they look alongside their inspiration designs. I'll forever mourn these unproduced dolls but I'm happy how it inspired this mini project.

Hauntlywood Mysteries Catty Noir instructions art
One of my favorite obscure things is when dolls that come with instructions have art of the doll, because it’s often slightly weird and off-model. Pixlings/Pixie Supremes in particular use this weird gray art that almost looks like a render in style.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are Skylar, Luna, and Aria.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Bearlinda, Shimmerverse 2-pack Unia, and Flyt.
Unfortunately these are the only Pixlings instructions I have pictures of, but they all look like this.

And here are Monster High’s Fearidescent Lagoona and Cleo, and Neon Frights Ghoulia and Twyla. See what I mean about being just slightly off-model, particularly the faces?

New Wicked Minifigures
Funny thing I noticed about the new Mattel Wicked minifigures, is all the unique sculpts that Glinda gets. Elphaba gets two: the purple dress from the end of the first film, and her Shiz uniform.
The purple dress sculpt is used without modification in the Emerald City playset, the Dessert Cart playset (where she gets green goggles), and an Ozian Balloons blind box (where she gets her hat). The Shiz uniform sculpt with a different hairstyle is only used in the Shiz Students multipack, where she also gets a bag and her glasses.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Four figures, two sculpts, for the main character. Before we get to Glinda, four characters have just one appearance as a minifigure: Nessarose and Boq only appear in the Shiz multipack, and Madam Morrible and the Wizard only in the Ozian Balloons blind boxes, so of course those only have one sculpt each.
Fiyero has two minifigures, one in the Shiz pack with his uniform from the lion cub scene, and one in the Ozian Balloons blind boxes with his jacket from Dancing Through Life. I can't tell properly from the stock photos whether these sculpts are the same - they look like they are, but it's possible the jacket mold is a variation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then we have Glinda, who has four minifigures just like Elphaba, but unlike Elphaba has four unique sculpts for each outfit: the Emerald City "One Short Day" dress, and her Shiz uniform, as well as her "Popular" nightgown for a dorm room playset, and her gown from the opening scene of the film in a Balloons blind box. She has two different hair sculpts like Elphaba, but they're used twice each unlike Elphaba's braid only being used once.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't really have a point here, I just think it's funny but also unfortunate that Glinda gets a wide variety of sculpts while Elphaba, the actual main character, is kind of shafted. Even Fiyero has variation between his two figures, but there are three identical Elphaba's! They couldn't even change up her hair between playsets?
