Make sure you disable any other slither.io extension and scripts first!

Play Menu:

Here you can enter your name and press play. You can also make a party by clicking create party and giving the code to your friends. They need to paste the party code you gave them and press join party. You will always join the creator of the party even if he switches server. Graphics Menu: You can change your graphics by clicking on the graphic quality tab. You can also choose a standard background by clicking on the background tab. If you want to have a custom background select the button choose file and choose your file. When you are done with that click set background and the background is done.

Connection Menu:

Here you can choose on which server you want to play. Your friend can give you the ip of the server he is playing on, so you can paste it and play on that specific server too.

Settings Menu:

Here you can choose your clan tag by filling in the “Clan tag” button. Underneath the clan tag, you can choose the name of the clan. The clan tag is the tag before your name and the clan name is how your clan is called. You can also change the clan logo by pressing the button change logo, that is with a url, or a file from your desktop. Choose a file with the size 200×150. You can choose a file the same way as you did with setting your custom background.

         How to Download Slither.io Mods

  This post is intended to help the Google Chrome users on how to install or uninstall user script (or Google they call it Content Script) in their browser. Google Chrome rapid updates and changing had cause a lot of problems on how user can install user scripts and how the user script interact with the browser. To make thing simple, I’m going to introduce you all to Tampermonkey extension in Google Chrome which is very similar to Geasemonkey add-on in Firefox. Trust me, this will make your life easier.

    Install Slither.io Mods on Google Chrome

  Step 1: Open Tampermonkey extension and install it. Once you have installed the extension, you should see a Tampermonkey icon button at the top right hand side corner near the Menu button in Google Chrome.

  Step 2: Go to Slither.io Mods and find the Mods you want to install. For example, if you want to install Slither.io Mods, open it and hit the install button.

  Step 3:  Done! Refresh the page if you want immediate effect from the script which you have just installed. If you wish to edit the script which you have installed. Click on the Tampermonkey icon button, go to Dashboard. Now you can see the list of user scripts which you have installed. You can select any one of them and start modify it anytime. Remember to save after done modification.

      Install Slither.io Mods on Firefox / Safari

  Step 1: You need to make sure you have Greasemonkey extensions installed on Firefox. Tampermonkey for Safari

If you do not have Greasemonkey installed, you can download Greasemoneky at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748/ Tampermonkey for Safari

  Step 2: Download the Slither.io Mods from to install button.

  Step 3: Click on the Install when Greasemonkey prompt you to confirm install the script to Firefox.

Step 4: Done! Continue to read if you want to know how to edit the script.

      Make sure you disable any other slither.io extension and scripts first!

    How to Disable other Slither.io Mods Scripts/Extension?

    Disable/Delete other Slither.io user scripts in chrome:

  Step 1: Open the Tampermonkey Dashboard by clicking on the Tampermonkey icon button on the menu bar, then select Dashboard.

  Step 2: You should see a list of user scripts which you have installed. Search for the user script you want to delete and click on the delete button.

Step 3: Confirm the delete by click on the OK button and you should see the user script is no longer on the Dashboard.

Step 3: Done!

        How to uninstall an Other Slither.io Extension on Chrome?

Step 1: On your browser, click menu . Select More tools > Extensions.

Step 2: On the extension you want to remove, click Remove from Chrome . A notice to remove the extension will appear. Click Remove.

If an extension has an icon in your Chrome toolbar, you can right-click on the icon and select Remove from Chrome to uninstall the extension.

To see your Chrome extensions, go to chrome://extensions. Here are a few ways to manage your extensions:

  Step 1: Go to Menu on top of Firefox then Tools > Greasemonkey > Manage User Scripts

How to Hit the Leaderboards

Slither.io [Free] combines the classic eat-em-up experience ofSnake, the granddaddy of all mobile games, with massively multiplayer action. Slither.io started as a web-based game, but made the leap to iOS in March of 2016. It’s just had a major update this week and it continues to sit at the top of the free app charts. A big part of the appeal of the game is the leaderboard, where the names of the ten longest snakes are displayed. It can be a thrill seeing your name on the board, and even more exciting if you become the longest snake of the week. If you achieve that incredible feat you can leave a custom message for all players to see… at least until a bigger snake comes along. With a few simple strategies it should be possible for anyone to break into that top 10 leaderboard.

Strategy

First: know the basics of the game. Eat the dots to make your snake longer. Protect your face, because if if touches another snake or the outside wall then your game is over. Crossing over your own tail is fine, It will not kill you and in fact is a good way to protect yourself.

Step Zero: Name your snake. The leaderboard is always populated with creatively named snakes, from the funny to the obscene. Be aware that rude words are filtered out and will be replaced. You can skip naming your snake if you like, but where’s the fun in seeing a blank space on the leaderboard?

Step One: Bottom Feeder

A snake starts out small, and it usually doesn’t pay to get aggressive early on. Look for an area with lots of dots and just work your way back and forth eating them all. If you find yourself having to travel too far between meals then cruise around and look for better feeding grounds. In a good area with lots of food you should be able to reach a length of 1000 in only a minute or two, but if you spawn somewhere with very few dots to eat you may need to cruise around a bit. When you’ve hit a length above about a thousand finish chewing and move on to scavenging.

Step Two: Scavenger

Now that you are not easy pickings for small or medium sized snakes it’s time to look for bigger meals. Head towards the middle of the map looking for snakes that are a little bigger than you. Stay near them and watch, munching on whatever dots you can without risking your life by getting pinned between 2 snakes. You are looking to stay safe and maybe get an easy meal. At this point you can stop outright running from other snakes and stand your ground, provided you play smartly and defensively.

When a snake is killed it turns into food. This is when surrounding snakes will make the most common mistake in Slither.io, charging lengthwise down the trail of food at top speed. The problem is that other snakes will get the same idea, and then they all run into each other. This can cause chain reactions as more and more snakes dive into a huge feeding frenzy and collide. A smart snake will boost across the trail of food, dividing it in half. This sets up a roadblock that can potentially kill snakes taking the straight across approach. Cross back and forth along the trail of food until you’ve run out of space, then curl up and munch. You’ll stay safe and you might even take out some overzealous speeders.

Slither Combat Tips: Defense

If you encounter an aggressive snake that seems like he’s trying to cut you off, you can easily defend yourself. Remember that only your face is vulnerable. If you can put your body between your face and your potential attacker then you can’t be hurt. Most aggressive snakes are also impatient and if you defend yourself well for a few moments they will move on looking for easier prey. Here are two defensive strategies that work, both are focused on keeping your face protected.

Curl Up: If the only snakes around you are not much larger than you then the safest thing to do is to roll up into a circle. Spin away from the enemy snake and loop back to your own tail. Once you have created an enclosed area just stay inside. No enemy can cross your tail, and so you will be safe as long as you keep circling. This can be a bit of a dangerous strategy long term because bigger snakes could take this as an opportunity to encircle you, and if you are encircled there is essentially nothing you can do.

Loop back: If you double-back and away from your opponent and retrace your path (essentially folding your snake in half) you have instantly created a wall between you and them. Because you can cross your own tail you can easily dodge snakes on either side of you as long as you are cruising along your own tail. This is a quick way to get to safety, but it does not work well until you have a long tail or if you are surrounded on all sides by aggressive snakes.

Step 3: Opportunistic Hunter

When you are big your turning radius starts to widen, and it becomes harder to surprise enemies and cut them off. You’ll also start to attract the attention of smaller snakes who want to swoop in for a meal when you die. At this point your goal is to always be safe. Keep circling and only exit your spiral if you have a very clear path. Your huge wide head will actually help here, because you can vacuum up wide swaths of food. So your goal here is to just continue to eat while staying safe and laying the occasional trap for snakes much smaller than you. Look for large areas of food that you can slowly encircle. If a small snake enters your trap, great. If not that’s fine. Make a safe basket and eat everything inside before carefully moving on.

Slither Combat: Offense

Hunting other snakes is fun, probably the most fun thing about this game. That said, it’s very dangerous. If you’re trying to get onto the leaderboard then playing slow and steady is the best way. However, eating somebody gives you much more food than slowly foraging, and if you can take on an opponent and win without exposing yourself then you should. Here are some offensive strategies and their drawbacks.

Trap Them: Lurk on the edge of a group of smaller snakes, making long and lazy loops. The goal here is to tempt a small snake into your clutches. Look for an opportunity to completely encircle the smaller snake. If the snake is too big, don’t risk it. Your goal is to pretend to be eating, all the while you are constantly just one quick dash away from forming a complete closed loop. It really helps if you do this in an area with lots of available food to tempt the smaller snakes.

Cut Them Off: The most dangerous position in Slither.io is running side-by-side parallel to another snake. If you find yourself in this situation the safe thing to do is a loop-back, but if you’re a small hungry snake sometimes you want to try your luck. The trick is to boost and turn towards your opponent, doubling back around them and not giving them the room to fully turn themselves.

At this point you’re probably in the top 20 snakes or so. You’re close to making the leader board. From here on out it can be a bit of a waiting game. It’s almost impossible for one really huge snake to hunt down and kill another, the danger from small opportunistic snakes is too great. The best way onto the leaderboard is to play it safer than your opponents. By now you will surely be seeing how aggressive the small snakes with nothing to lose can be. Your enemies on the leaderboard are dealing with the same thing. I’ve had times where I got over 5000 feet long then just chilled out near the edge of the map avoiding all snakes, and even though I wasn’t getting any longer I would slowly creep up the rankings as my rivals got picked off.

Slither.io has just been updated with the ability to pay to remove ads as well as a new control scheme. Users can now choose between the tap to turn control scheme and the virtual joystick. The new control scheme is a huge improvement because it allows precise control, is more comfortable, and keeps you from blocking the screen with your finger. It helps to make the mobile version nearly as accurate to control as the desktop browser version.

Here’s my best attempt at a Multiplayer slither.io game. If it lags then try pressing ‘L’. You can now choose the colour of your snake!

Control your snake with the mouse. Collect the food to grow longer. Don’t run into other snakes! Click or Space to dash (if you have eaten enough)

I’ve tried my best to recreate both the graphics and controls of the original slither.io. However, multiplayer gaming of this magnitude would be quite difficult, so I had to come up with a new game to play!

Slither.io Clone

-Slither follows your mouse -Eat dots to grow -Click and hold to speed (for a price) Get the biggest (snake? worm?) in the time limit!

Coming soon: -choose skins -wandering dots -possibly an achievement system with unlockable skins

My PR in real slither.io – 21,000

Obviously credit for the background and concept goes to the original creators of slither.io – whomever they are. I used Inkscape to import the background larger than 480×360. All programming is mine except for a modified script that converted HSL colors to RGB. I probably got it from @TheLogFather.

Why I won’t be making it multiplayer: (UPDATE: @griffpatch did it)

-Without a time limit, snakes can easily reach lengths exceeding 300. That’s 600 numbers to encrypt into a cloud variable and decrypt at the other end.

-A workaround to this would be to just send the location of the head, and have other computers simulate all snakes. This would work visually, but any slight lags in the cloud could offset snakes drastically. Plus this would take a lot of extra processing power.

-Speaking of processing power, this project is already starting to lag with only one snake being drawn! I’ve even optimized it so that offscreen portions aren’t rendered. It just doesn’t seem possible to render any more snakes.

-All those dots! Sure, we could make it so that dots are stored locally and everyone’s dots are in different positions, but this kind of defeats the purpose of the game when death dots come into play. There are just too many of them to synchronize them across computers.

-Cloud speed – In a realistically achievable multiplayer system, all snakes but your own would lag behind quite a bit. This could be very problematic when you’re checking collisions. If two snakes reached the same place at the same time, each one would claim that it got there first. Neither would die, and they would go through each other! Or if it were coded the other way around, both snakes would die.

The future of Slither.io

Everyone is still obsessed with the massively multiplayer snake-flavoured battle game Slither.io. Including us.

So! To find out more, we had a chat with the creator of the game, Steven House, to find out where it came from, what’s next for the game, and how to race your way up the leaderboards.

Pocket Gamer: How did you create Slither.io?

Steven Howse: A few years ago I had the idea to make a massive multiplayer snake / worm game. The only option in those days was Flash, though, and I didn’t want to use that, so I gave up on the idea for a while.

Once it became clear that WebSockets were stable enough for an HTML5 game, I decided to finally create Slither.io.

The hardest part of development was making each server stable enough to handle 600 players at a time.

I am really glad it worked. I like to have players feel like they are in a giant realm instead of a tiny claustrophobic box.

Slither has led to rivalries between 4chan and Reddit, and thousands of YouTube videos – what has been the most surprising outcome of the game for you?

What surprised me the most was how fast it became popular.

I made one halfhearted post to a gaming forum and thought no one would notice or care about the game. I thought I would be lucky if 50 people ever played it.

A few days later, though, there were all these people with millions of subscribers already doing Let’s Play videos, and I couldn’t believe it! It grew so quickly after that!

What are your best tips and strategies for players who want to climb to the top of the leaderboards?

The strategies I have learned in the game are:

When you are tiny, you can sometimes grow quickly if you follow big players around and simply wait for them to die.

When a bunch of players die at once, be careful about boosting straight into all of the new food, because that is what everyone else is doing! You might run into them and die.

You can calmly hang out around someone else for a minute to bring their guard down, then suddenly boost and veer in front of their head to kill them when they least expect it.

Coil around someone and constrict them to death. I think this is the greatest move in the game. Even better is when you coil around someone who is already doing it to someone else!

I’m not sure my tips are the greatest, because I am just an average player compared to the pros who are already out there.

Can you tell us about any features you plan to add to the game?

The next feature we plan to add is a friend play mode, plus a way to select the server you play on.

Do you plan to continue updating and building on Slither.io, or are you already working on a new game?

My team and I will keep working on improvements and new features forSlither.io.

We haven’t begun work on any new games yet, but I would like to create more massive multiplayer games in the future. For me, they are as fun to create as they are to play.

  Hello Ladies and Gentlemen!

This is a tutorial for how to download Slither.io Mods for Google Chrome and how to edit scripts for your extension. If you’re having trouble downloading/running the extension, please consult the FAQ below the tutorial. (Updated to v2.1.4)

This extension is 100% free, and will not download any malware onto your computer.

For Google Chrome Users:

Step 1: Make sure you have no other extensions currently installed, If you do the extension will not work properly. You can check and see if you have any extensions installed by going to chrome://extensions and clicking the disable checkbox or the trash can icon next to the extension you want to disable/delete.

  Step 2: If you have no extensions installed/running you can then go to https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/slitherio-mods/cnlenmmkifnhllnjfoangnjokeadhbbk and download the Slither Extension there.

  Step 3: Click the “Add to Chrome” button which will appear on the top right of the pop-up.

  Step 4: The store will run a system check to make sure the mod is usable, and when completed go to http://slither.io and play your new modded game!

  Step 5: If you ever want to disable/delete the extension go to the extension tab (Found in step 2) and hit the disable button or delete it entirely.

  FAQ Q: What if I’m using Firefox or Safari as my browser? A: Scroll below and find how to install user script on firefox.

Q: I can’t find my extension bar! A: If the link provided up above doesn’t work for you, next to the star on your browser is a small button. If you click it it will allow you to Customize/control your personal Google Chrome browser, you can find the extensions there.

Q: I downloaded the extension and it still won’t work! Please help! A: If you’re getting this problem, you either have another extension running or a script in your browser is modified. To fix this you can re-download your browser from another one, or just restart your computer, since your browser will most likely revert to original text when the system is restarted.

Q: I did everything you said above, and I got a white screen and it won’t let me play, how can I fix this? A: This is a commonly asked question, if you restart your browser and the problem isn’t fixed, re-download your browser, since all the scripts will revert back to normal and should work properly. (You will also need to re-download the extension, don’t forget!)

  For Firefox/Safari/Internet Explorer/Other browser Users:

Step 1: Disable/delete other slither.io scripts first

      Step 2: Go to Slither.io Mods User script page: https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/19350-slither-io-mods

Step 3: Click to install script button:

Step 1: Open Tampermonkey extension and install it. Once you have installed the extension, you should see a Tampermonkey icon button at the top right hand side corner near the Menu button.

Step 2: Go to Download Now button open it and hit the install button on the top right hand corner.

  Hello all! As you may know, we have recently published our own Slither.io mods extension ( https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/slitherio-mods/cnlenmmkifnhllnjfoangnjokeadhbbk ). It contains many features and this post is to notify you that even more are coming! That’s right, a major revamping new update is coming up! It has new features such as a party mode, viewing your friends on a map and a brand new UI, with a slick menu to help you get a clean overview of all those nifty things you can now easily do! Tips to Get Big Slither.io

    Here are some important strategies I use to get big, with examples from a video of me getting to 190k. (with a zoom hack, which makes the strategies easier to do, and easier to see)

1) Turn on OS-level “pointer trails” for your mouse. It makes the mouse pointer much easier to see while playing. You can find this in control panel mouse settings (windows), or preferences mouse settings (mac).

2) corpse-hunting: Especially in the start, I focus less on killing, and more on catching corpse food killed by someone else. less riskier this way. example

3) safe-running: When in a crowded space, I often find it safer to continuously boost. That way no worm can surprise me by going faster than me. I aim for gaps away from the direction worms are headed. While I’m not trying to surround, sometimes opportunities present themselves. example

4) figure-8 surround: As you move, any turns or coils in your worm cinch down, meaning they decrease in radius. The longer you are, the more time they have to cinch down. Because of the cross-over point in a figure-8, it cinches down harder than a circle surround. It also makes your surface area bigger so you are harder for another predator to surround. In the example, watch how the secondary-loop starts small, but then grows as the prey-loop cinches down. On the prey loop you are free to safely follow exactly on your tail, as long as you make the secondary loop bigger each time, the prey-loop will cinch down tighter. example, example

5) figure-8 second capture: While figure-8 surrounding one worm, you have the option to change the secondary-loop to capture another worm. Just be sure to reach the cross-over point before your tail does. example

6) surround-threat: when a large worm has a surround on prey, I don’t try to do a risky surround. I threaten the surround, causing them to run away. This cinches down their tail, and usually kills their prey, which is then ready for me to eat.

7) edge ai-worm hunting: sadly, I spend a good amount of time near the edge eating dumb ai-worms. When ai-worms reach a certain mass, they flee to the outer edge. Once your worm is large enough, they can’t see around you and get “stuck” as soon as they run into you. They also don’t try to kill you, so they are easy to surround and kill. example

8) edge squeeze: if there is a large human enemy worm near you on the edge, you can stop him from following you by “squeezing” yourself very close to the edge of the playfield. I do this by aiming my worm at an angle and letting it continue straight until I’m close to the edge, then pull away. At worst, this prevents him from following you, and at best he runs out of room to turn and dies into you or the edge. example

  Here’s a simple collection of things that I would’ve found usefull if I’d known them before playing the game.

  General information

The map is a huge disc. If you touch its boundaries, you simply disappear and you leave nothing behind.

When you die by touching another snake, the food that you leave behind represents only 20-23% of the mass you had when you died.

Although the game has no lobby, there are different rooms. The only way to change a room is by refreshing your browserwindow.

Most of the action happens at the center. You barely ever meet someone at the edge unless the room is incredibly full.

The “butterflies”, as I like to call them, meaning the big food pellets that move around and run away from you, have a mass of 50-60.

Normal pellets spawn only around players or other pellets. they grow in size over time, starting from 1 up to around 20.

Your boost-remains start at a mass of 1.

The remains of a dead snake consists of larger pellets with a mass of around 10 – 40.

Oftentimes when you see someone inside someone else it is usually a good idea to stick around. More often then not the outer snake makes a mistake, leaving you and the inside snake with its mass to share.

When boosting, you lose mass (you defecate it out of your tail). However, the boost-remains only represent around 30% of the mass that you actually lost while boosting. This means if you boost in a circle, you will eventually lose all of your mass.

When you leave the game without dying (closing the browser, exiting the game), your snake lives on, but from now on it is controlled by a bot.

When it gets late, the game spawns additional bots to keep the snake-density up, since the radius of the disc never changes and there arn’t enough players at night to fill the map.

Slither.io Bots

There are different types of bots. They have all the following traits in common: – They move around in zick-zack lines. – When close to an enemies body, they try to evade it. – If close to an enemies head, they go towards the head, trying to cut the enemy off. They never boost when doing this though. – If surrounded by enemies bodies, they go around in circles. If a head comes near them though, they will slightly move out of that circle. – When almost encircled (e.g. you intentionally leave a small, but big enough to escape, gap open), they never try to go for the gap. The gap has to be at least 45 degrees wide for them to try and evade. – If someone big dies near them, they never boost and try to grab as much mass as possible. They randomly pick around every fifth pellet they see if the pellet density is low and every pellet thats near them if the pellet density is high (the remains of a snake). – They never try to encircle you.

  They differ in the direction that the are headed: 1. The ones that control the snakes from players that left the game always head for the boundaries of the map, heading straight into it and eliminating that players mass. 2. The ones that try to imitate a normal player, who get spawned once the amount of human players drops to a certain amount. They don’t head for any specific direction, though they may travel around quite far depending on their surrounding, but if they are alone, they usually end up going around in circles. Another trait is that they never boost. 3. The crazy ones (who also get spawned). These get bursts of boosts that last can last from 20-40 seconds. They don’t stop the boost no matter what. they usually end up chasing their tail, but if an enemies head is near, they will go for the head, which can get quite dangerous for that snake. Once they stopped after around 20-40 seconds, it takes about 2 minutes until their next boosting-frenzy. Between their out-bursts, they act like the second kind of bots.

  The amout of spawned bots is highest at night. The spawned bots draw their names from a pool of names, which is the same for every room. Here’s a list of bot-names I observed so far (the number means the amount of times I encountered it on several days, no number means only one encounter):

Since these bots barely try to escape an encircling, it is possible to actually “farm” these bots, resulting in easy food and a huge (albeit slow) accumulation of mass.

  Tips and Tricks for Slither.io

  Slither.io has become a pretty popular game. There even seem to be a plethora of articles giving tips and tactics to players. The thing is… They are all the same tips. Nothing original. As a frequent leaderboard maker, I thought I’d share some of my tactics starting from basic to advanced:

Boost Basic, Any Size, Neutral: You don’t see many people who don’t know how to boost. Tap the screen on mobile and use either spacebar, up key, left click, or right click on PC.

Zig-Zag Basic, Small, Offensive: Again, fairly simple yet not as common. Move back and forth in a zigzag pattern to confuse other players as to which way you’ll move next.

Circle Squeeze Basic, Medium to Large, Offensive: As a larger snake, encircle the smaller snakes so that they have nowhere to go. Continuously constrict your slithery snake body until they have no choice but to run into you.

Double Circle Squeeze Basic to intermediate, Large, Offensive: It’s not really a different technique, but players using the circle squeeze are good targets for bigger snakes to use the circle squeeze on.

Circle Squeeze Counter Intermediate to Advanced, Medium, Defensive: This one is pretty hard to pull off well. As the circle squeeze works by continuous constriction, simply don’t give them any new space. If you stay slightly in front of their face, they have no room to shrink the cage, therefor either keeping it at an impasse or loosening the cage. You most likely won’t loosen them enough to escape, but they might either eventually loose interest or get killed by a larger snake.

Pinch Intermediate, Any Size, Offensive/Evasive: At the edges of the map or in a crowded area, it’s a good tactic to kill pursuers by forcing them up against the body of another snake. This is akin to forcing a car against the railing in a racing game.

Head in the Sand Basic, Large, Defensive: This move is particularly useful to somebody who wants to keep their leaderboard spot. Continuously circle inside yourself, so that you are never vulnerable.

Guarding Basic, Large, Neutral/Defensive: Instead of going directly for all of those delicious looking Worm remains, circle around the lions share of the dots. This allows you to comfortably get all of the points without worry of scavengers.

Partial Guarding Basic, Medium to large, Neutral/Defensive: If you aren’t long enough to circle the lion’s share or simply don’t have enough time, create a straight wall with your body to keep others at bay.

Cause Suicide Advanced, Large, Stealthy: If nearing player with the same skin and a similar size, stay just out of their view and try to trick them into hitting your body. This method relies on the other player thinking it’s their own body. If you suspect somebody is doing this to you, simply boost- If it don’t glow, now you know.
