hi, im looking into getting my first synth and my budget isnt too huge, so i figured i might as well ask someone that seems to have some knowledge - what do you reckon would be a good first (at least semi-)cheap synth to start with? which brands should i go for, which should i avoid? etc

Well if you're just starting out with music I suggest starting with a virtual synth until you're sure you know what you want. I'd suggest trying out Vital because it's outright free and super feature-rich and cheap if you want the pro version. Also try out pigments 3, the Arturia V collection, Phaseplant, U-he Diva and Omnisphere - all of these are amazing modern virtual synths/collections which I use regularly. If you want hardware, I suggest you DM me so I can better grasp what kinda music you're tryna make, since hardware synths are pretty particular.

i would like to tell you about Giant Freshwater Stingray!!!

at over 6ft across, they are one of the largest freshwater fish in the world!

sir, that is a river monster. 

they give live birth to a litter of up to 4 pups, and are all extremely good-looking and charismatic:

a good fact to know is that they are basically floppy pancakes. just flappy flapjacks. wiggly mushrooms:

their stings are coated in toxic mucus (toxic mucus, how cool is that), but they are typically docile and curious.

tw: this is about emotional abuse, while not talking about exactly what I went through, I still thought I should put a trigger warning

So about two years ago, I was in a very toxic relationship where I was emotionally abused. I'll spare you the details of what happened, but suffice it to say, it left me totally broken and with trust issues. I had totally forgotten what a normal relationship is supposed to look like. Fast forward to now, I've been seeing this really lovely person for about a month and a half, and she has been very lovely and patient with me.

I've been doing some self reflection. Throughout the time that we've been seeing each other, I have had been plagued with trust issues. I would constantly be thinking that she is going to pull the same shit that my ex did. However, this got to a point that to try avoid a toxic relationship, I just kinda became a toxic person myself. Everyday, I keep getting overwhelmed with a sense of worry and dread and I would get mad when she didn't text back. It has taken me a minute to realise this, but the problem is not her, its me. She has been so lovely and patient with me, and I feel like I really don't deserve. Other people that I've seen have not been this patient with me, and ended just leaving me in a week.
