Refrigeration and Fridge Freezers Explained

Depending on the needs of the customer, refrigeration models are varied from smaller under-counter types, builtin refrigerators and large American refrigerators with ice and water dispensers integrated to the door.
Today's modern refrigeration is all about convenience, practicality and size. Whether purchasing a space-saving integrated refrigerator or a super-sized American style refrigerator, there is something available for all types of families- large or small. And, of course we want the refrigerator to look good, but mainly we want to be able to store a full week's worth of shopping in it and know that it is still going to run energy efficiently.
Freestanding fridges now come in a range of set-ups and are available with or without freezer compartments. If you have a large family and a lot of space to spare in your home then having one model specifically for refrigeration and the other specifically for freezing could most definitely cut down on your supermarket trips. However, not all of us need that much fridge space and a combined fridge freezer is the most popular refrigeration choice of the moment. Most manufacturers have decided to keep designs sleek and simple with freestanding fridges generally available in white, stainless steel and sometimes black. A minority of manufacturers such as Smeg, however, have produced some very bright and colourful refrigeration- with fiery reds, ice blues and lime greens, these colours are not for everyone, but offer something a little bit different for an ultra modern and vibrant environment.
In a complete contrast from the statement that is a freestanding refrigerator from the colourful Smeg range, many people are opting to hide their refrigerators away by choosing hidden refrigeration with a facia panel. Refrigeration appliances are no exception from this and can be build into your cabinets. A door is then fixed onto the refrigerator so that when the door is closed you would never even know that it was there. Often, when the refrigerator has a fridge compartment and a freezer compartment, two doors would be fitted so that you do not have to access both at the same time. And despite the appliance having to fit into a certain space, there is still a choice of size. Many of the refrigerators are split 50/50 so that there is the same amount of space in both compartments, but there is some flexibility as 70/30 splits are also available, which allow you more refrigeration space, but cuts down on the size of your frozen food option. The choice is yours.
A relatively recent phenomenon in the UK is the American style refrigerator. These super- sized refrigerators often come with a built in ice maker and water cooler- these features are optional, but add a little bit of luxury to your house and as they are often located on the exterior of the fridge door, they are easy to access and always ready to use. Despite the size of these appliance they are still customisable to some degree to enable you to get exactly what you want out of your refrigerator. Some are even available as built- in models and some have mirrored panels that can be exchanged for panels that match your units.

A dilemma that many people who own a combined refrigerator have is that they cannot seem to get the chilled against frozen ratio quite rate. More often than not- unless you opt for one of the super- size refrigerators - you can be left wanting a little bit more freezer space and that is why many people these days are going for a chest freezer. Often used as a second refrigeration appliance, many of the more modern chest freezers run very energy efficiently. One feature that is really worthwhile looking out for as the no frost feature, which has several names depending on the manufacturer of the appliance. This feature tackles the problem of ice buld up in your freezer and means that you do not have to defrost your freezer as often as normal- very practical.
But sometimes convenience and practicality just is not enough and what we need is a little bit of luxury to make us feel really at home. And not many things are more relaxing than winding down with a decent glass of wine. Perhaps this is why domestic wine chillers are becoming increasingly popular as a household appliance. Wine cabinets are no longer just a product for commercial use and are now becoming more and more available in smaller capacities to suit households rather than restaurants. Most small wine coolers buyer's guide have two or three different temperature zones that allow you to change their temperatures independently from one another, meaning that you are able to store red wine at one temperature and white at another, but within the same appliance. A wine refrigeration may not be essential, but adds a level of luxury to a kitchen that you might also get from a good coffee making machine or a fancy set of taps.

Home Wine Coolers

If you enjoy purchasing wine on a somewhat regular basis, you should also consider the benefits of home wine coolers. Wine is becoming a very popular drink of choice in many situations. The beverage can be served when entertaining guests, or when having a normal dinner with your family. Wine chillers help you serve the drink at the right temperature so that everyone can enjoy it. It is true that you can store your wine in a regular cooler, but the size of the bottles may make them difficult to store, especially if you have several bottles.
There is also the option of storing your wine in the refrigerator. However, the fridge subtly vibrates as it runs. This movement could cause the sediments within the drink to shift around. Home wine coolers will prevent this alteration and keep your wine tasting good and fresh. Most people who use the refrigerator for storage only put wine inside it when they are expecting the need for it. However, wine chillers can help you store all of your wine while keeping it cold for unexpected uses.
When shopping for wine coolers, there are many different brands, types, styles to choose from. You may want to purchase a cooler based on the number of wine bottles you wish to keep cool at one time. Home wine coolers typically offer storage for six bottles, though you can find some that are slightly larger to hold more. This option allows you to keep most of your best wines ready to be sipped when you want them. This also frees up space in your kitchen fridge so that you can store food and other beverages in there.

Most wine chillers come with the feature of adjusting the temperature. This allows you to keep your wine at the exact temperature that you like to drink it. The better coolers also come with a function to control the humidity inside. This will prevent mildew or mold from accumulating on the bottles when they have been in the wine fridge for an extended period of time. You may also want to opt for a glass paned front so that you can show off your collection of wine while it is being kept cool.
As you can see, home wine coolers are a sound investment if you are an avid wine drinker. This is especially true if you like to keep a collection of red and white wines in your home. You do not have to store them in room temperature until you decide to pop one in the fridge to get it ready for drinking. With wine chillers, you can keep your favorite wine brands cool and ready to drink. This is especially beneficial if you have unexpected guests that arrive and want to have a small drink with you while they are visiting.
