I see a lot of positivity posts about 12-year-olds just learning to draw. Posts cautioning us to be mindful of 11-year-olds with no grasp of anatomy and 13-year-olds whose characters are all the same person with different hair and clothes, and I love those posts. Those are great posts. Keep those posts coming, tumblr.
But can I ask, what about the 25-year-old who just bought their first ever sketchbook? What about the 32-year-old who’s been drawing for a month and has just about got the hang of a human-looking face? What about the 67-year-old who finally has time to sit down and learn how to paint like they’ve always wanted?
Not everyone starts drawing as a child. Not everyone learned as a preteen. Some people start in college. Some people start when their career is going well and they feel like it’s time for a new hobby. Some people start after they’ve retired.
Not all beginner artists are kids, and I just think the adults ones deserve some encouragement, too.

Please help my friend out! Thanks so much!
emergency commissions
Hi guys. You know I don’t normally ask stuff of y’all but im feeling exasperated and desperate. T_T
i’m blu/jai/faline, a 19 y/o bi poc.
the story: so this Tuesday, June 12th, my family and I were in a pretty bad car accident. My mother and I, and my two little brothers were in the car. We were driving through an intersection when a young girl who hit us decided to turn during a yellow light. We crashed immediately and there wasn’t even time to respond before we hit. I was disoriented and stumbled/fell out of the car into the intersection. My brothers came out with only superficial injuries. I got the brunt of the hit and got the worst injuries; intense burn/bruising from the seatbelt. My head hit on something which made me disoriented and my knees had hit the dash. My whole right side is not doing too well which makes drawing difficult. My mother broke her right (dominant) hand. Everything on the front of the car was destroyed, the only thing preventing more intense injury was the airbags deploying. Heres the thing: less than a month ago, my mother and little brother were in another accident. They were driving home from dinner when a drunk driver hit them and totaled my moms Lexus. Nobody was badly injured in the accident, but the car was done for. Our new Lexus was purchased four days prior, on Friday, June 8th, my birthday. It still had temp tags when we were in the crash. And with my moms broken hand, she can’t work. I’m currently unemployed as I help take care of my brothers but I couldn’t work like this anyway. My dad has a low paying job and we have the insurance + $3,000 that was paid down on the car that is now lost and other stuff to pay for. The insurance said we aren’t at fault at first but is now trying to give us partial blame bc we have the same insurance company as the girl who hit us. with my moms broken hand she can’t work for a while and she is a clinical lead. And we need to keep a hold of as much money as we can for new car, rental, food, cats, bills etc. for the time my mom can’t work, so any extra money in my bank acct would help tremendously.
I have proofs of crash my injuries and me in ER if anyone needs or doesn’t believe me for whatever reason but there have also been pics posted on my Instagram.
im telling all this because I’m offering commissions for extra $ in my account. I know not many may bite but I need what I can get and any little bit helps. I have about $15 in my bank acct. my right side is hurting, but most likely I can still draw or force myself. I can still use my arms. it might take a bit of time to get commissions out but i will try to do them as quickly as I can given the circumstances. ;-; i sometimes take a while but i will try try to get them done as soon as i can. i promise to try my hardest!

Dear artists...
No, I’m not going to link back to your page. I edited out your ugly signature too. I paid for the art. It is mine.
Don’t worry, this does not mean I take credit for drawing it. When people ask if I drew it, I say “Nope.” When people ask who did, I say, “Sorry, I don’t remember.”
Just because I bought your art does not mean our profiles have to be linked forever. It’s the same if I buy an apple from the grocer. I don’t have to keep the sticker on it or tell people where it came from. I’m not a walking advertisement for your shop.
If you want credit so badly, then I should get a cut of your future profits for my part in the advertising.
I know I’m probably going to get the wrath of whiny, entitled artists for this, but I don’t care. I won’t be making a shrine around their art dedicated to them. I paid for a service, and now we should go our our separate ways!

Why artists and writers reblog their work multiple times:
They posted it late at night and want people to see it in the daytime
They want others to reblog it
They want more attention for it
THEY WANT OTHERS TO REBLOG IT
They have followers in different timezones and want everyone to get a chance to see it
THEY WANT OTHERS TO REBLOG IT
IF THEY REBLOG IT MULTIPLE TIMES, THEY’RE DOING IT BECAUSE THEY WANT ATTENTION FOR IT AND THEY’RE LIKELY NOT GETTING ENOUGH, SO THEY KEEP REBLOGGING IT IN THE HOPES THEY’LL GET SOME
BE A COOL BRO AND REBLOG
THEY’LL LOVE YOU FOREVER
