My Review-Review of IT
Well hello, today it seems that I am going to be reviewing a review on a specific movie that came out about 2 years ago now, IT. Since the second chapter, or second movie if you will, is either in theaters now or about to be played in the theaters, I thought it would be appropriate to write this on the first chapter. This particular review is written by someone behind the website: Behindwoods.com. At the end of the review they had given the movie a rating of 2.75/5.o stars and in their review they did bring up some good points that I do agree but also disagree with let'd dive in...
In the first bit of the review he mentions "The first half has very few scary moments and the biggest backbone of the film's former half is its comedy." I agree with this in the way that the film did have a lot of comedy in it. Richie, played by Finn Wolfhard was the jokester of the group for the most part, with his dark sense of humor and his fast come-backs, made some of the movie seem more like a comedy then a 'horror' movie. There was also Eddie, another one of the boys in the Losers Club, also humorous in some parts, though for me, Richie stole the award for humor. For the first half of the movie and it's scary parts...I would say they were well created and portrayed, didn't last long enough for the audience to really feel the fear, just each character after another, their fear, aannnddd a joke from Richie, probably about Eddie's mum.
The 'bullies'...I put that is quotations, but they were in fact bullies...horrible ones. In the review they did mention that they did not seem necessary, but I would like to disagree with that. The bullies added some new characters, and they weren't just some "one time and they're gone" characters, they were consistent and added to the story. I feel that without the bullies the story would end too soon. Of course it is pretty predictable about what happened with and to the bullies, but they added a small layer of fear of what may happen to the main group with their violent actions towards the younger boys.
To sum it all up, this movie is a comedic light horror with amazing acting, costume and makeup design. The characters Richie and Eddie added that comedic spark while the "bullies" added to the bucket'o'fear with Pennywise and the red balloon. So, with all this said, I again, do and don't agree with the reviewer on the other side of the screen of  Behindwoods.com. My score, if putting the movie in the middle of light-horror and comedy, would be a 3.1/5.0 stars, I for one, enjoyed the movie and what it had to offer...even if I did refuse to see it for almost 2 years.
