Making art is like falling down a flight of stairs, in that I appear to have missed a couple steps and now my back hurts. (PFP by the AMAZING @simoondraws)

why are all these modern aus for the Odyssey set in a high school. where's the retelling where Odysseus is just a guy lost in an airport who keeps missing his connecting flights home due to a comical series of delays and disgruntled airline employees

The EPIC fandom with Poseidon for whatever reason
there are some headcanons where it's like. 'i would enjoy this as a light seasoning in fic but certain chunks of the fandom have become more committed to this than the actual canon and made it load-bearing in scenarios where it simply doesn't make sense'.

I love your sfs Hades design :D
Thank you!! It is very different from the others and stands out a little, but that's because I started the final draft before Hades had an actual definitive design haha
Glad you like it!

Do you have any recommendations for Clip Studio Paint tutorials that you use for animations? I'm a beginner user and saw your work on youtube.
Hmmm honestly I just kind of figured it out based on my knowledge of other software. I doubt CSP has any significant differences from other programs besides just being less intuitive!
Good tutorials are on YT by Derrek, Manu Mercurial, and Moderndayjames!
NobleFrugal Studio has one too, though I haven't checked it out.

People are missing so much potential not to imagine how incredibly subtle comedy would be if everyone in the Greek side of the Trojan War spoke in their individual idioms and accents from different parts of Greece and making fun of each other for that on occasion! Like one can almost envision how different dialects and accents in England for instance cannot understand each other hahaha
Do you think we Greeks who speak standard Greek can understand every single dialect around? Like people in Crete or worse in Cyprus? We even have a comedy movie of 1970s called "Babylonia" (Βαβυλωνία) which makes fun of all these individual idioms in Greece of 19th century and how people cannot understand each other.
Imagine the leaders and kings and nobles speaking some standardized "official" form and then imagine the rest of the army being a Babylon not of different languages like Troy but of different accents and local idioms and dialects!
Come on! Don't be cowards! Hahahaha See the potential!

The thing about the Scylla sacrifices vs Eurylochus wanting to leave then men on Circe's island behind is the different levels of intent.
In the case of Circe's island, they were blindsided. They were lured into a trap that they had no way of anticipating, and after that what's done is done. In Eurylochus' eyes, the witch has them now, what's done is done, and any attempt to rescue them is likely to lose them more men.
In the case of Scylla, on the other hand, Odysseus had all the foresight. He knew exactly what going through the lair of Scylla would cost, and he intentionally set his men up to be killed. He essentially pays Scylla in human lives for passage through the lair.
Even if we say that there was no other choice, there were other ways of going about it. The most important thing would be to tell the men about Scylla beforehand. That way, those who didn't want to risk death could disembark and start a new life on a different island; not everyone is willing to die to go home, and Odysseus had no right to decide that for them.
Furthermore, its the fact that Odysseus never even tried to find an alternative solution to just standing by and watching Scylla eat his men. THAT is why Eurylochus is so mad, he says as much at the beginning of mutiny.
"When we fought the cyclops, you were quick to hatch a plan And when we fought with Circe, it was you who left behind no man But when we fought this monster, we didn't take a stand We just ran"
Its not just the fact that he traded his men's lives like they were tokens, its the fact that it was his first and only plan, that he didn't even try to find a solution that didn't result in death, and just stood there and did nothing as his men died all around him.
In situations that are unexpected and sudden, you can be forgiven for acting in less than ideal ways. But when you have all the knowledge, all the advanced notice, then you have the power and the responsibility to at least TRY to find a different solution. That's what condemns Odysseus in my eyes, and why I'm willing to cut Eurylochus slack for his reaction to the Circe situation.
Odysseus had all the power, so he has to carry all the blame.

Hello Wolfy! This just to show you how much we love you <3
Your artistic style is so distinct out of all the EPIC artists. Like you immediately clock that this is a Wolfy animatic. Your work is so beautiful and these people harassing artists have to be a special brand of idiot.
Any fandom runs on its artist, especially EPIC and Sfs who don't have any official stage play so we rely on fan animationa to understand the scenes. You were one of the first people to believe in these projects.
Please don't be discouraged by these people. They are not the fandom. They are not our people. We don't know them. Continue doing what you love and remember we will gladly accept and praise whatever you bless us with!
Now all together: "THANK YOU WOLFY WE LOVE SO VERY MUCH😍💓🌟❣️❤️💖💞🥳💕🌸🌟🎊🎉"
Oh haha thank you! I'm glad you like my stuff. But did something happen?

Honestly, this needs to be said more often: if you’re going to be a diehard fan of Epic: The Musical please take the time to read the Odyssey and Iliad.
These are texts that have been around for nearly three thousand years, and Homer’s work isn’t exactly hidden behind paywalls. We’re talking public domain epics available on dozens of websites, many even in modern translations. There’s really no excuse to confidently post headcanons or "hot takes" about characters like Odysseus while being completely unaware of what Homer actually wrote.
It gets frustrating when people make sweeping claims, like “Odysseus would’ve been horrified about Agamemnon sacrificing his daughter,” when... hello? Not only was Odysseus very aware of the plan in other sources, he’s literally the guy who helped trick Iphigenia into coming to Aulis. In Euripides and the Cypria, he’s even the one pushing for the sacrifice to happen for the sake of the war. That’s not even interpretation it’s written! So spreading misinformation because “well, the musical made him look soft and morally conflicted” is just lazy.
And don’t even get started on the bizarre insistence that Odysseus was just a cheater who didn’t love Penelope. This is a man who was literally held captive and assaulted by not one but two goddesses, and yet never stopped longing for home. He’s not some player archetype, you’re confusing him with modern tropes. Homer paints him as flawed, clever, and deeply human, yes but loyal in his own way, struggling through divine interference just to return to his wife and son. His image has been more distorted by fandom takes in the last years than it ever was during thousands of years of oral and written tradition. It’s time to stop reducing him to a meme or "messy husband energy" and start recognizing him for what he is: one of literature’s most iconic, complex heroes.
If you love these characters and this world, that’s great BUT it feels a little disrespectful to twist canon into takes while never bothering to open the actual text. It’s not about being a scholar. It’s about respecting the foundation you’re building your fandom on.

If I see a single damn hate comments on Anniflama, Neal, Duvet, Elian- ANYONE know I have your ass blocked on any social media you post it on. I don’t care if you like my art. I don’t care if you want to see my animatics. I don’t give a shit. You’re not getting to enjoy anything I do.
Tik tok section of fandom is hot burning trash of crying five year olds having no idea how to act on the internet. If you spread misinformation or jump people because of a stupid ship. You’re absolute trash.
Oh also if you don’t like something that’s fine. Just say it. Dont try to act like it’s the worst thing because of how YOU PERSONALLY FEEL. Your opinion is not the damn Bible. You self cantered prick.
With this I officially announce none of my designs or stories have anything to do with epic and are strictly my own. The musical will be used as a mere medium in me animatic. I am no longer apart of this fandom. These people are my damn friends. And I will not stand for the absolute garbage that has been spreading throughout this community.
