Monitoring Hubble for marijuana toxicity is not how I wanted to spend this afternoon.

The friend was back for the holidays. Hubble got bullied by a dog that is almost 20 pounds lighter than her. They had fun, though. And now Hubble is absolutely zonked.

Me, when Hubble was a puppy: "I don't want to get a puppy again. Puppies are too much work."

Me, now that Hubble is two: "I miss having a puppy. I want another puppy. Watch it grow."

My mom keeps suggesting I do freestyle with Hubble, but this dog is just way too lazy to put a routine together.

I love her, though.

Hubble has gotten really REALLY good at spitting out pills if I have to give her one. It was never a problem with Sammi. She'd take pills straight with no cheese or meat wrapped around it. But Hubble? Even if you stick it in peanut butter, she'll find a way to spit it out. For a while, I was just holding her mouth open and placing the pill at the back so she had to swallow it, but that was making me feel bad about forcing her to do something she didn't like.

BUT I'VE FIXED THE PROBLEM!!

I take a mini marshmallow and tear it almost in half, kinda like a hot dog bun, and then put the pill inside. The stickiness of the marshmallow insides prevents Hubble from separating the pill from the pocket, and she really enjoys them. It may not be the healthiest thing for her, but in the long run, it's easier on both of us this way.

So Hubble made a friend last night. The little black hound boy was very friendly but the other one is an old dog and was very nervous around her. (Understandable. Hubble is alot)

Now I have to watch out for them. Apparently, they belong to one of my neighbors. (According to another neighbor) But they are SOO skinny. Like you can see their spines. And their teeth are all rotting in their mouths. I can't actively intervene and get them to a shelter because they belong to someone, but oh Lord, am I concerned.

We have some neighbors that shaved their poor husky, and every time I see that dog, I cry a little.

Living near a fireworks display:

Pros: We can see the show from inside our house.

Cons: The dogs don't like it.

Interacting with the boys next door is making me appreciate Hubble so much more than I already do.

Don't get me wrong. They're wonderful dogs. But Winston won't drink from any water bowl except the one in the office. Lucas likes to antagonise Riot. And Riot will only play fetch with the nastiest toy that he's drowned in the pata pool. Then we go inside, and Riot wants attention, but Lucas always gets in his space and annoys him, so I have to step out or they'll fight over who gets attention from me.

Sammi and Hubble had their spats, but they got along so well. Hubble listened whenever Sammi needed space. And Sammi was always gentle but communicative. Those boys seem to constantly be getting on each other's nerves. (Mostly Riot's nerves poor boy) Hubble is such a laid-back dog for the most part.

I love those boys, but they are such a handful.
