Here’s a wild thought: my OCs from highschool never had smart phones, that’s how 2008 they are.

Geez this makes me feel old.

I had way too much fun drawing my old emo boyfriends from memory. I used to write stories about them and pass a binder full of angsty teen boy romance around school. They had a little fan club. It was very fun. As cringe as it was, I really miss writing them.

You’ll see these two again from time to time, I want to write cute little comics of them when they’re all grown up. Even if it doesn’t turn into much, they’re so much fun to to use as practice.

What if Baz magicked himself some wings? I think they’d be pretty dramatic - pointier and more venomous looking than Simon’s.

And of course in his favorite color.

This was just supposed to be a sketch, I just got an amazing pose reference book and had dragon Baz on the brain - I had to try to draw it, and then I just had a ton of fun painting everything and practicing… How could I resist fire, wings, and a suit??

Suit is based off a really amazing assemble worn by Donald Glover.

Do not hate a seal because of the species they are born into. No one can control that.

They may look scary, as an ocean dragon should, but that doesn't mean they are bad.

Leopard seals have shown kindness and empathy even to creatures outside their own species. They deserve respect and to be admired at a distance- not all animals are "only lovable if we can pet them". It's wrong to only appreciate another creature only for what it can do for us humans.

Yes, they are carnivores. But so are many animal species including lion, tigers, wolves, and other creatures who are adored. Being carnivorous is not inherently evil, and in many cases is very important in maintaining ecological balance. Seals are a keystone species! On the flip side of the coin, many of us aren't vegitarian, but that doesn't mean we're bad people!

So please take a moment to show your love for leopard seals. They are good beans!

Rosebud boy getting a rose (and the love) he deserves.

One of my favourite humans/artists @yayee-prsp opened a few commission slots last week and I asked for Simon and Baz with a rose and Yayee did a PHENOMENAL job. Come weep with me everyone.

On the worst days, on the even worse nights, I used to think about all the bad things that have happened to Simon-just the ones I know about. And then I’d wonder about all the terrible things that have happened to him that I don’t know about. Twenty years of bad things. How long would it take for those painful memories to die back? Or, at least, to wither?

I’d wait.

I spent way too long on this, mostly because I have been desperately trying to learn (and relearn) illustration techniques and was using this piece as practice. I think I repainted this at least 8 times before I said ‘ok, let it go’. Ive never rendered a full illustration on my iPad before, and it was really addicting to try out different brushes, explore styles, play with lighting and effects.

Since going to Megacon recently, I realized how much I really missed drawing characters. I used to all the time, it’s what got me into art. I want to be able to draw the characters that I love, and create my own again, but I don’t really know how to anymore. I don’t know what my style even is… but I want to try. It lit a little fire in me. I’ll learn.

☀️I’m officially a sucker for all things Simon Snow. What a funny, romantic, sad and tender series. I read these during a transitional time of my life, and they mean a lot to me. They also got me into reading again. Thanks @rainbowrowell for giving us a wonderful world of nontoxic vampires, supportive relationships and realistic (magical) rosebud boys.

Now don’t get me wrong, I love sweet whisperhands Simon too, but also I really appreciate bitey Simon? I know it’s not just me.

This is a sketch I from my new sketchbook that I thought would be fun to slap some color on and play with brushes. I just started painting on my iPad, it’s a lot of fun! I haven’t drawn anything like this in like, ten years? Jeez. So I’m trying to relearn drawing people and poses and etc, at the same time as procreate... It’s hard! But I’ve been practicing drawing with these two, so it hasn’t been unpleasant.
