i guess if elon makes twitter even crappier, I can come back here, but idk, you have to be more creative on tumblr
so i still have this account and the bots haven't taken it over ... slay!
anyways for anyone that's still following me that isn't following my twitter (most of you i guess) I'll give you some updates:
I commenced and dropped out of a masters degree
I now finally have a full time job that is absolutely nothing to do with my bachelor's degree LMAO

31 Austria - Never really enjoyed the song so the inevitably terrible vocals won't help or harm its placing.
32 Poland - A bit too much wailing and shaky camera effects for my liking.
33 Germany - Actually not that terrible for Germany. The problem was it wasn't memorable.
34 Cyprus - The shell prop and the overall aesthetic was really pretty, but the stage presence was giving Dua Lipa in the "go girl! give us nothing!" performance.
35 Croatia - Taylor swift folk/country era song, pity I don't really like Taylor swift's folk/country era music.
36 Norway - Despite trying to be fun, it just comes off as far too manufactured and cold to be likeable.
37 Montenegro - Can appreciate that the song is very personal for Vladana, but I feel that It would've suited being sung (at least partly) in Montenegrin more.
38 Belgium - Still confused as to whether he's singing "now" or "no".
39 Azerbaijan - Congratulations for showing us that you can actually qualify with only jury support, I guess.
40 Israel - the answer to the question: What's gay and homophobic at the same time?
My (late) Eurovision '22 top 40 + thoughts
Ok, so apparently we can't make gigantic text posts on Tumblr anymore, So I guess I'll just post 10 at a time.
Overall, with only 1/2 of the songs I can fully admit to liking, 2022 wasn't a particularly strong year, but that, of course was not helped by RAI's incompetence of having a stage that did not work, floors that looked perpetually dirty, lights that were too bright and the most horrible camera angles and cutaway shots imaginable.
Anyways: Before I get started:
Key:
1 - My runaway winner no other song can compare. Love you so much for qualifying and breaking the curse of my winner never qualifying. 2 - 5 Entries that I absolutely love and still listen to regularly 6 - 13 Entries that I loved at the contest, but don't listen to as much anymore 14 - 18 Enjoyable entries 19 - 27 Songs I'm indifferent to 28 - 33 I don't like these songs overall, but can understand their appeal to other people 34 - 39 Songs that I either find forgettable or I don't personally like 40 - I would pay to never hear this song again

21 Portugal - I'm not Portuguese so I fear I'll never fully appreciate the concept of saudade, but 21st place is pretty good for a song that I had been putting very low until the live performances.
22 Bulgaria - What did Ronnie Romero do in Spain allegations aside, it's not actually a bad song in a non-competitive dad rock sort of way.
23 Australia - In the end, it grew on me, but I'm still bitter that it beat both Jaguar Jonze and Voyager in a national final that seemed to be set up for Sheldon to win
24 Macedonia - Andrea almost achieved the impossible by coming close to qualifying with the most mid song even though the broadcaster turned against her and threatened legal action for the simple act of throwing a flag.
25 Finland - Unlike other millennial eurofans, I have no idea who the Rasmus are. My favourite part is where I can distinctly hear "butt" and not "blood".
26 Spain - Girl bops aren't really my thing, but I appreciate how good a performer Chanel is.
27 Switzerland - I had the suspicion that it was going to sneak into a qualifying position and I was right! The bit where he deliberately knocks the mike stand over is hilarious.
28 Greece - Rumour has it that this was written by a member of Kirkorov's dream team. I feel like the dream team have never made a good song so understandably I don't like this.
29 Albania - I didn't see the appeal in it when it won the nf, I didn't see the appeal in it when it was a fan favourite, I felt vindicated that it nq'd.
30 Italy - I actually used to like this, but their mess of a live and them basically doing a male Russia 2003 (not even the whole fake couple thing, but also one of them didn't come to rehearsals) ruined the whole package for me.

11 Netherlands - The live doesn’t have the same oomph that the studio version has, but I still like it.
12 Latvia - Surprised this did not qualify, but looking at the 3 token fun entries of that semi-final and their places in the running order, it kinda makes sense. Would’ve rathered this qualifying over Norway though.
13 Armenia - Happy indie music 100% sounds like free stock music for "live laugh love" youtubers, but somehow I really like it.
14 UK - The pleasantly surprising stage show and stage presence of Sam Ryder turned what I think was a just ok song into an actual contender. The UK isn’t dead just yet.
15 Sweden - Despite me getting bored of it rather quickly, I can appreciate that Sweden finally gave us something that does not sound too overly manufactured. You can sense the emotion in Cornelia’s voice.
16 Czech Republic - Easily the best EDM song of the contest and probably the best stage show as well despite RAI’s incompetence
17 Malta - It’s a Glee song made specifically for Rachel Berry, It’s trash yes I do un-ironically like it.
18 Romania - I’m not surprised it’s Romania’s first qualification in years because they finally got someone who can deliver a good live performance
19 Ireland - It was near my bottom from the start, but the live performance was the most improved out of all the delegations and in the end, I really thought it would qualify.
20 France - It's a pity that their foray into a minority language was paid dust, but I could also see its potential to be read as a mess from a mile away.

1 Moldova - My runaway favourite since it beat all the hilarious no-hopers at the Moldovan auditions. All the internet eurofans were alledging "nq" and "last in the semi". They were so wrong for that!!! ALSO, I LOVE ZDOB ȘI ZDUB NOW!!!
2 Iceland - While this etherial masterpiece did deserve better, it’s easy to forget that it wasn’t expected to win its own national final, let alone qualify.
3 Lithuania - A slinky, sexy retro number sung by someone who takes hair inspiration from Mireille Mathieu.
4 Slovenia - Disko is a great composition and it’s especially commendable that it came from the youngest artists of the year. Unfortunately the stage presence was a little lacking, but sometimes you can’t have it all.
5 Denmark - It's amazing that every year, Denmark seems to have the absolute worst national final, but they still end up picking a song that I love (well, at least I love it after we get that weird ballad bit out of the way).
6 San Marino - The lyrics are trash both in English and Italian, which is nice, but what makes it even more charming is the fact that it is apparently the product of 11 songwriters.
7 Ukraine - Realistically, I think they always had a chance to win invasion or no invasion.
8 Serbia - I thought it was too weird at first listen, but It grew on me to the point that I knew every lyric and what happened throughout the performance.
9 Estonia - A cowboy song with an Avicii feel to it which works with the right singer, thankfully they chose this famous singer from Estonia
10 Georgia - It could've been a moment and the studio version is a banger, but unfortunately the most exciting part of the stage show was the throwback to Mouth and MacNeil in 1974.

When I watched the 2005 contest as a kid, I thought Zdob si Zdub singer was cringey. Now... I don't know what happened, but I'm starting to fancy him!
You grew up, he aged... probably well, who knows ;P
