The narrators have already mentioned Merlin’s paranoia over having decreased emotional depth since the boc swap, when everyone was mourning Rawfield and he was able to power through and give an eloquent speech. Now there’s the Bio Man having Merlin’s memories and having the capability to learn new things and express original ideas! But I think there’s one last big reveal about Merlin’s new bocular limitations that we’ve seen sprinkled in all season long—a loss of neural plasticity leading to rigid thinking and unable to accept new ideas outside of the “programming.” All season long, we’ve seen Merlin react strongly and negatively to the novel cosmological concepts other characters, especially Steve, introduce. This is something we know Merlin has always struggled with, way back to the oasis in the Un, but to me it’s felt more obvious and extreme this season—his backlash against new ideas has felt harsher. Some of that may be stress, but what if it’s more? What if the Bio Man’s new capability of accepting and making new ideas and worldviews comes at the detriment of Merlin’s? Sometimes the Fold magnifies what is already there into an exaggeration of itself—a struggle of expanding his mind as a man turns into being trapped in the rigid mind of a machine

The next addition to my series of Bells Hells in historical art styles- Orym’s origin story in the style of 17th century Mughal miniature painting.
Here’s some examples of the kinds of work I studied when working on this piece-

And here’s a few close ups-

godddddd thinking again about how ford fell through that portal into a multiverse of unlimited possibilities and the answers to questions he'd never even started to ask and he didn't even get to enjoy it before he got stranded back on boring old earth
#yeah I don’t think ford is unhappy but I do think he does some bonkers stuff to keep from being unhappy#I think five years after the end of the show he’s in papua new guinea half way up a tree collecting moth samples#he’s a leading lepidopterist now and this he’s running out of loved ones to name species out of#he’s advising on shoddy YouTube shows about ghosts he’s scuba diving for treasure he’s taking a crack at the voynich manuscript#ford pines on the List of Unsolved Problems Wikipedia page like it’s his to do list#positive qualities: his boundless curiosity#negative qualities: his boundless curiosity#he’s never going to be able to sit STILL there’s always going to need to be something#but earth is full of mysteries too he’s just got to find them and lock on#do you know how many unclassified insect species there are in old collections? someone should do something about that#those archivists won’t stop him he broke into an intergalactic vault once#he’ll return the specimens when he’s done with them!#gravity falls

We begin in the early hours of the morning on the day of Grissen in a messy room on the second floor of the Nestled Nook Inn. A bleary-eyed, bruised man in a tattered coat slowly wakens from his lengthy sleep, catching his small, snoring ally curled at the foot of the bed.
with how much i rewatch campaign 2 i constantly forget how long ago it started 🤭 episode one never fails to me make me feel nostalgic

*grieving immensely* i can’t believe unend was a final girl horror movie all along and the biological man is going to be the sole survivor at the end of it all.

Feeling well enough for the first time in months to listen to Unend season 2. Steve has me feeling so nervous. The fisherman is being jolly and friendly but there is a chance that trap is going to close! They opened the season saying that every garden eventually gets harvested and every fattened cow eventually gets slaughtered. And isn’t it just a little suspicious that he survived where his students didn’t? Isn’t he being a little too chill about the Midst-folk wanting to go back to their cosmos while he very much wants to return to his?
#I wouldn’t hang my hat by it but it remains an unsettling possibility#I cannot let my guard down around Steve#unend spoilers#unend#the migraines are unabating but so is thirst for unend

Coming off of a month plus of being absolutely miserably sick, worst headaches ever, and have finally caught up with Unend! Delighted and happily baffled. Hoping to maybe find time for all the hours of CR I’m behind on at some point.

All humans are faintly bioluminescent! Not sure if this is what the narrators meant but it lines up with the cosmology (pun intended).
Recalling that in the upper Un, it was revealed that all the people have some kind of Fold-substance within them which could be slorped by the megafauna up there, I wonder if it stands to reason people might also have some kind of internal light or Un equivalent presence in their bodies as well, creating a balance (thematic, poetic, etc) and also giving reason to the Fold being attracted to people (not just Cleo with her external light show) in an otherwise pitch-dark ship. *looks at the episode title* hmmm

My thoughts on plot developments? I hope the Wildmother calls their bluff, slams her verdant hands on the table and says “yeah, do it, eat me.”
#cr spoilers#critical role#critical role spoilers#she’s the god most likely to! prey and predator consumer and consumed#a way to finally ensure she never leaves this world if the babies are promising they have it pinned to Exandria#rule one of extortion is don’t make threats you aren’t prepared to follow through on!#I have advocated for using Predathos as a bargaining chip in the past but in a vague way#a “’nice world order you got here you should reorient it’ way#this relies too much on explicit consequences#and one of the gods might just call them

This latest ep’s conversation between Braius and Asmodeus really hammers home what he wants out of a relationship (and why attempts to get him with Ashton/Fearne, Dorian/Orym, or Chetney, while hot, were never going to work.) This cow grew up in a religious community in a strict immigrant household. He doesn’t just want love he wants to reclaim what he feels like he lost: a firm family structure, a committed monogamous relationship, the reassuring bulwark of a community. Bells Hells are great, he’s inordinately fond of them, but they’re not going to be his dadmom or boyfriendgirlfriend or bosspope. Asmodeus though? He can be all three! Say what you will about Lawful Evil, it’s got the structure he craves.
#critical role#cr spoilers#braius doomseed#asmodeus cr#vox machina could fix braius’s family and authority issues but nothing else#mighty nein would have him completely shattered though#he’d be living at the blooming grove engaged to one of cad’s siblings by now
