The best beaches in Da Nang
Da Nang has only recently become popular with visitors. Many resorts and hotels that are being built here only prove how much tourism has recently flourished in this part of Vietnam.
One of the most popular attractions in Da Nang are its beautiful and quiet beaches. I must say that it was something that tempted me to come here in the first place. The perspective of living by the sea was irresistible.
Tumblr media
The Southern Beaches
The southern beaches are the most popular ones in Da Nang. They are located by the road going from Son Tra Peninsula all the way to Hoi An. This big stretch of sand has been divided into few beaches: Pham Van Dong, My Khe, Bac My Anh and Non Nuoc. There is nothing really different between them and they all look more or less the same.
During the day the southern beaches are quiet and deserted. Da Nang is mostly popular among Asian tourists and those usually wait until it gets a little cooler and the sun is not as strong as white skin is the way to go in Asia. No one wants to get tanned here.
In the evening the beaches become crowded. Tourists flock in and the locals come to cool down with their families. If you are looking for some peace and quiet, it is better to enjoy the sun between 11 am and 3 pm.
These beaches are nothing like the ones you see in Thailand or other Asian countries. There are no palm trees and nowhere to hide from the burning sun. Your only option here will be deck chairs, hidden under umbrellas, that you can rent from one of the little bars on the beach. A whole day costs 40,000 VND. At some of the beaches parking a scooter costs from 2,000 to 4,000 VND.
Tumblr media
Son Tra Peninsula
If you have a scooter you can find some better options at Son Tra Peninsula. Beaches here are more serene and quiet, even in the evenings and afternoons. Tien Sa, Bai But and Bai Rang offer calm, blue waters and golden sand.
Be prepared to pay for your stay at those beaches. Normally it costs around 25,000 VND per person, plus you need to order a drink at the bar, located on the beach.
Other beaches, like Bai Bac, Bai Nam and Bai Con, are mostly closed for tourists as they are private properties of expensive resorts. I read somewhere that you can go there, order a drink and stay as long as you want, but we were turned away when we wanted to enter one of them.
Personally, I get annoyed every time I am asked to pay to stay on a beach, or I’m not allowed to enjoy them because they are someone’s property. Paying almost $2 for sitting on a beach is also a little too expensive in my opinion. I have travelled to many countries, but I have never seen anything like this before. Vietnam is a totally different world when it comes to tourism.
Tumblr media
The Northern Beaches
To explore the northern beaches of Da Nang you need a scooter. Lang Van Beach, Xuan Thieu Beach and Thanh Binh Beach are all located close to the Hai Van Mountain and Hai Van Pass. They are less popular with locals and visitors and therefore ideal for water sports and some relaxing time.
Only the last one lacks facilities for tourists and there are no bars, nor umbrellas to lay under. You won’t be asked to pay for your stay here either. The two other ones are also private properties, therefore a charge of 40,000 VND applies.
The beaches in and around Da Nang might not be the most beautiful and picturesque in Asia, but they are definitely the cleanest I have seen in the region. There is no rubbish lying around and no plastic bottles floating in the water. That’s a really surprising thing in Vietnam. It is actually a pleasure to swim in the sea and relax on the clean sand here.
Tumblr media
The last thing worth knowing is that some locals here are still not used to seeing women in bikinis. I witnessed a couple of times men taking photos of white women on the beach. Some ask if they can snap a picture, some don’t. It doesn’t happen that often, but when it does you can simply tell them to stop. Most of the time they feel embarrassed and go away.

Travel tips for tourists coming to Da Nang
Last month I took a car from Hue to Da nang and had a wonderful time in Da nang. After visiting Da nang, I continued the trip from Da nang to Hoi an. Da nang is such a good city to visit that visiting Da nang will be always in my memory.
Like other people,  when I came to a new place like Da nang, I always wondered what i would do, where to go, what to do, where to stay at night and what to eat in this city. The most important question is how to have the best trip, but save time and money. Today I want to share for you, tourists coming to Da nangsome travel experience and tips so that you will have more information to plan a good trip.
Visiting Da nang before going to Hoi an
The third largest city in Vietnam, Da Nang is in close proximity to Hue- 3 hours North and Hoi An– 30 minutes South, which makes it a perfect stop point for those who need a break from the touristy areas. Da Nang is growing into one of the most organized urban areas, with attractive beach front villas on the one side and Han River flows on the other.
Talk about how to go to Da nang, Hue Private car seemed to be very convenient and safe for me. It’s also cheap and flexible. Therefore, it should be the first choice to start a good trip.
Before going to Da nang, you should think about the weather. If you want to go to the beach, the best time for you to visit Da Nang is from March to mid-September because this is the sunny season in Vietnam. If you come to Da nang at this time, the sky is blue, clear and perfect for the beach. The hottest months are May-August (30-38°C). From January to March, it can be quite chilly (lowest temperature: ~16°C), therefore it’s not a good time for the beach if you’re from a tropical country. The sky may be unclear, cloudy and gray. You should also avoid late September, October and November as it rains a lot.Da Nang is one of the cleanest cities in Vietnam, with rapid growth. Da nang is a great tourist city with many natural beauty spots such as Ba na hills, Son tra peninsula, Marble Moutains,..and many amusement parks such as Bai But,Bai Rang….Da nang  also built many extremely beautiful and unique bridges with architectural legend  such as Dragon Bridge, Tran Thi Ly Bridge, Han River Bridge… Each bridge has a private character and is the esplanade, fun city sightseeing for travelers to Danang.
If you have 2 days in Da nang, you should go to Ba na hills at the first day. At the top of Ba Na hills is a park featuring a replica European castle, and a spectacular underground amusement park carved into the mountain, featuring many types of rides. After visiting Ba na hills, let’s spend a night walking on the bridges, dancing or entertaining in some bars or club near the Han river. The next day, you can visit Da nang city, including some famous places such as Marble mountains, Linh Ung pagoda, My Khe beach, Cham museum... After that, think about taking a boat trip cruising along the Han River to enjoy the fresh air and see the magic light of the city. Or you can sit on the solar cycle of “Sun wheel” to have a panoramic view of Danang City at night.
If you want to visit the city, but still close to transportation centers , I recommend choosing the riverside hotel. The hotels are cheap, affordable, new, and prestigious : Da Nang coastal hotels, Sofia Hotel & Restaurant Da Nang. Here, you can just walk out of the Han River: 5 minutes; both are within walking distance of the Pham Van Dong and My Khe beach. If you want to stay in luxury resort 5 star standard, you should stay at the luxury Furama Resort, Olalany, Alacate, Muong Thanh hotel, .
Da Nang is a place for authentic local cuisines. Due to its low volume of visitors, residents’ lives take place the way they have been for years. Many street vendors can be found in the market and along the Han River. I tried a lot of food in this city, but I want to recommend you My Quang (Quang noodle)and Bun Cha ca. They are very delicious and special.
If you need to set the romantic feeling, book a dinner at a restaurant along the Han River. There are many restaurants along My Khe Beach, a few outstanding names such as My Hanh, For You, Ngoc Suong, Phuoc Thai …offer fresh seafood at unbeatable prices.
After at least 2 days in Da nang, you can continue your trip to Hoi an with Da nang to Hoi an service. Hope you will have a good trip in Da nang with these travel tips I have just shared above.

All Things You Should Know Before Travelling to Danang
Da Nang is a city of bridges, growing rapidly with resort construction attempting redefine itself from the transit center to the destinations. The Hue Imperial City, rich in political history is two hours drive north. At the other direction, the cultural jewel of Hoi An is just forty minutes south. Both are notable travel destinations, which absolutely merit a visit.
Why Da Nang is Special?
Da Nang’s 1 million residents and hotels’ construction boom are left somewhere in an awkward middle ground. Although boasting a few temples and government buildings, some modern bridges really puts Danang on the international map.
That leaves the beaches, which, for just as far as I sound like a negative Nancy, are actually quite striking. Da Nang has 92 kilometre of coastline. There are roughly 3 separate beach regions of varying popularity and features: The North part of Da Nang includes Xuan Thieu Beach and Thanh Binh Beach facing Da Nang Bay. Both are offer incredible white sand, blue water and fewer tourists, additionally lack many facilities. It is the best beach for the picnic or a cooler for the day.
The Son Tra Peninsular includes the eastern mountainous area that divides the north and south regions of the city’s coastline. It includes smaller, nearly empty, although sometimes rocky beaches like Bai Con, Bai Nam, Bai Bac, Bai But, Bai Rang, and Tien Sa Beach. Day trips here are usually along with visits to Linh Ung Pagoda or up to the top of Monkey Mountain to take in the view over the area. If you consider yourself a bird watcher, a nature lover or fishermen, this is where you would like to be.
The South part of Da Nang encompasses Pham Van Dong Beach, My Khe Beach, Bac My An Beach and Non Nuoc Beach at the southern end. Collectively, they cover an impressive 30 kilometre, are in closest proximity to most accommodations within the city as well as beach front dining options.
Consequently, it is the busiest and the stretches of private beach in front of resorts along Non Nuoc Beach. The southern beaches are increasing a number of five star resorts. In December 2016, Four Seasons took over The Nam Hai, a 100 villa resort between Da Nang and Hoi An. The Wyndham Soleil Danang is constructing a 57 story-tower hotel with 779 rooms will open in 2018. It will be the tallest buildings within the city. And it will form a part of a four-tower complex that will also feature 3,200 apartments.
While Sheraton, Ariyana Beach Resort & Spa and a half dozen other developments are also under construction. They’ll join the existing Furama Resort Danang, Pullman Danang Beach Resort, and Hyatt Regency Danang Resort, among others, already located on Non Nuoc. Then there is the over 500 rooms Crowne Plaza Danang, InterContinental Danang and Sun Peninsula Resort.
How to understand?. This very likely represents the greatest density of high end beach resorts anywhere in Vietnam. And they have all pretty much opened in the past six years.
In the end, if you consider yourself a bit of beaches, or are looking to take a high class break out of flash packing around Vietnam, this just will be the perfect weekend getaway. The beaches all get top marks for cleanness, although the strong surf and resulting rip current of East Sea might make swimming in certain areas. Regardless if you decide on public areas of the beach or private hotel areas, a lot of sofa seat options for choice and relax. Let enjoy a cold drink from the seaside.
There are a couple choices for skiing rentals and some other activities, but in general, Da Nang is beaches, and beaches alone.
Where To Stay in Da Nang?
There is also without a doubt already an oversupply of accommodation options in Da Nang. Many tiny resorts open with introductory offers and after being busy from 3 to 6 months upfront due to vacancy. As I mentioned, the number of resorts are along the coastline. While having a decision to Da Nang city for holiday or work, simply checking Booking.com, Agoda.com or make a call to resort or travel company to book room as your wish.
We recommend staying as close the beach as possible. Because the city is large and staying at the downtown will need travel to city centre. Much 2 and 3 star hotels with a set of blocks close the beach has the price from US $15-40 per night. For luxury accommodation it is about US $50-100 each night with 4 or 5 star hotel and resort. Some are on the beach, with pools and amenities. Five star beach front room start at US $200. They move up to US $1, 000 USD each night if you truly want to make a splash in the private pool of your multi bedroom beachfront villa.
Things to do around the City?
Absolutely, most people has a question. How to get around Da Nang? Yes, Da Nang is among the relatively pedestrian friendly Vietnamese city. It has the construction with sidewalks and a boardwalk along the ocean. However, it spreads out therefore traveling on foot is not ideal. And Grab and Uber are banned in Da Nang city. That leaves vacationers with traditional taxis to pay the large distances inside the city. Besides, electric car is available at the city so that visitor can view the city easily. However its cost is more expensive than taxi. Although the roads are wide, and the traffic are not crowded, it is not ideal to ride a scooter.
What to Eat?
The foods of Da Nang is not one for the record books, however, it nevertheless has numerous gemstone in case you know where to look. That is where Da Nang Food Tour or Fantastic Da Nang Food Tour come in. Da Nang Food Tour particularly gets high marks. They aim a max of four to six individuals. And a restaurant list that changes depending upon the mood and personal preferences of the guide and guests. If you’re dedicated to do it yourself food discovery, then the author Summer Le has a 10 dish guide for local Vietnamese food at the city. She will show you everything you should know about the dishes, how to eat them plus Vietnamese food culture and local history in general.
Da Nang tours recommendations
In case you are searching for a day visit to the Marble Mountains, or require a break from the beach for almost any other reason. Looking Jeep Tours is also a should try tour in Da Nang. Run by Jeremy, an American veteran, and local Vietnamese, Tam, the extremely customizable tours are well worth the purchase price. Bring sunscreen and as the jeeps are topless.
A visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site My Son is a comparatively easy one hour drive out of Da Nang. The site, though smaller compared to the renowned ruins of Angkor Wat in Cambodia, is older. Only 45 minutes away, Hoi An is an easy day trip. In fairness, it respects a few days of exploration by itself. And Hoi An has lots of riverside accommodations that get rid of the need to commute from Da Nang. Some tour companies will arrange pick up for travelers staying in Da Nang who go on several trips around Hoi An and Vietnam with them.
When is the best time to visit Da Nang?
The best time to travel to Da Nang is since March to September. Daytime temperature reaches 26-29 degrees Celsius with a strong ocean breeze, however, sometimes it is cool at night from 18 to 23 degree. As a result, visitor should wear a light sweater.
Lying in central Vietnam, Da Nang encounters a tropics monsoon climate. Summer time June to August have temperatures that are higher. Winter season is from November to February and the temperature is cold from 10 -18 degree. Additionally, ensures you miss the peak domestic travel months of May to August, which attracts significant audiences.
Which Beach is Best?
Mother nature graces Da Nang with several beaches of varying popularity. While all generally face East (meaning sunrise rather than sunset views). Nearby are accommodation, crowds and general beach vibes do vary considerably. The Da Nang Experience has the best comprehensive beach guide to the region here. For what it’s worth, we find the private resorts of Non Nuoc Beach offer the ideal quiet paradise.

The most wonderful things to do in Da Nang, Vietnam
The modern and vibrant Da Nang is one of the fastest developing cities in Vietnam. It hasn’t always been that way and for many years it was considered as a provincial town without many attractions. That’s probably the reason why it is very often missed by visitors coming to Vietnam. It’s a great shame as there are a lot of very interesting and wonderful things to do in Da Nang and one day might not be enough to see everything.
I spent 3 months there. I worked online while discovering some off the beaten path places as well as those more known. I was never bored and there was always something fascinating to see and new to do. After those few months, I had a feeling that I could stay there a bit longer and I would never run out of places to visit. To me Da Nang is a mix of modern with traditinal. It’s a great city to explore and to live in as well.
If you’re looking for an ‘off the beaten path’ destination, Da Nang should be on your list. It offers quite a few activities, places to see and things to do. Here is a list of those that you simply can’t miss when you’re in the area.
1. Sunbathe on one of the beaches
In my opinion lying on the beach is one of the best things to do in Da Nang. It is surrounded by beaches. They are not as breathtaking as the ones you will see in Thailand, but they are very clean. In fact, they are the cleanest I’ve seen so far in South East Asia. During the day, until around 3pm, they are mostly deserted and quiet, so you can really enjoy your time here.
Just be aware that the beaches here don’t have any shade and the heat can be unbearable sometimes. Therefore, you can either buy a parasol or rent a deck chair with one on the beach. A whole day will cost you 40,000 VND.
I used to go to the beach on the southern side as it was the closest to my place of living. For me the best time to go to there was from 12 until 3. It was when it was the quietest. After 3 hordes of tourists would come and the quiet time was over. However, if you had to the northern side or the beaches on Son Tra Peninsula, you will have much more space and won’t have to worry about sharing your parasol with anyone else.
Want to find out more about the beaches in Da Nang? Read my post about the best ones to visit!
2. Pay a visit to Lady Buddha
One of the top things to do in Da Nang is visiting the majestic Lady Buddha. When you walk on the main beach you will notice a tall, white statue in a distance. That’s the Lady Buddha, which guards the shores of Da Nang and looks after the local fishermen. It’s the tallest statue in Vietnam and is part of the Son Tra Linh Ungh Pagoda complex, which is a great place to visit.
The temples and the statue all come from the 18th century and have been recently restored. The surrounding gardens are really beautiful and you can admire the nearby bay from the main terrace.
3. Find heaven and hell in Marble Mountains
I think visiting Marble Mountains was my absolute favourite thing to do in Da Nang. I loved the caves with carved walls and the way they illustrated what awaits people in hell. Pagodas, spread around the area, were really impressive. This is the place to go if you want to see something mesmerizing.
The Marble Mountains are the main attraction in Da Nang. If you drive a scooter there, you will be chatted up by Vietnamese ladies, who will talk to you while driving by your side. They just want to get you to park in the more expensive parking. Don’t get fooled. The best spot is just outside the main cave.
4. See the dragon Wondering what to do in Da Nang at the weekend? Don’t fret! The weekend nights here are the best. One of the biggest attractions in the city centre is the Dragon Bridge, which not only is beautifully lit during the night, but also spits fire every Saturday and Sunday at 9pm. You simply need to see this spectacular show!
We used to go there almost every weekend. I really liked the festive atmosphere and the colourful show. It was alsmost like the New Year’s Eve. After it is finished, head downstairs to the bars. Sometimes they have a free ladyboy cabaret and there’s always cheap beer on offer.
5. Do some shopping
Da Nang doesn’t really have impressive malls or designer shops but it’s great if you want to make your own clothes, or see a real local market. If you want to do the latter, I recommend going to Con Market and Han Market – both great places to buy cheap food and clothes and watch how life happens in Da Nang.
If you live in Da Nang it’s probably a good idea to shop there for groceries and other necessities. Remember to bargain if you think that the price is not fair! ...........................................................
