Again I began rewatching Dead Boy Detectives, because it has been a while (I was going through some stuff).. and I feared there’s no one talking about it anymore or no fanfics and discussions about dbd.. but here I am again and I can see that the fandom is still active and it’s like coming home. This show is my comfort show.. this show makes me feel at home. Thanks for not giving up on this series.

Was rewatching Dead Boy Detective, as one does, and it’s honestly so crazy to me that Edwin is the one canonically in love with Charles when it’s the look Charles gave Edwin in the first few minutes of episode 1 (when they were hiding from Death) that made me go “ooooh so it’s going to be gay! gotcha”

The Cat King is such a good “villain”. He isn’t traditionally evil, but to Edwin he is evil and predatory. We aren’t supposed to like him until the end. He is everything Edwin needs in a villain. The Cat King isn’t ashamed to be queer, different, sexual, everything that Edwin wishes he were not. He represents what his parents and society told him was evil. Being like the Cat King is what got Edwin murdered. Despite being so evil we grow to see him and Edwin kind of bond, especially after Edwin confesses. Accepting the Cat King as a tentative ally shows that Edwin has accepted his queerness as well. This show is chock full of metaphors for being queer and I love it.
