Soleil had been up high on a ladder, applying a new coat of paint to the walls above the shelves. Freshening up the place a little bit. But he had been so absorbed in his work that he hadn't notice the small gaggle of women that had gathered to watch him from the lobby. Effectively blocking business. They didn't seem all that interested in books either.

He also noted the strained expression on Elise's face.

He knew what he had to do.

Carefully he saddled up behind her, placing a hand on her shoulder and leaning in to place a kiss atop the crown of her head. Lingering there a moment before straightening back up. But his hand didn't leave her shoulder and he very purposely stood closer against her. Making a show of not being available.

He wasn't paying much attention to the onlookers, but he could feel the air change around them.

"What do you need help with, love?"

just rambling about some worldbuilding stuff

i really outta get my world page set up, but i keep changings things.

like, originally i imagined soleil's nation (ardor) in particular being like a fantasy version of a greco-roman empire. just this big sprawling empire thats all ivory and gold thats brutal and intimidating. i still like the idea but then i also really want the classic idea of woodland elves. so now, i've kind of combined the ideas.

so basically now, ardor started out as a village in the deep woods in a valley. (which i call the scarletwood, due to their redwood-like trees.) they literally live in inside the trees. carving their homes out of the trunks, or in treehouses up high in the canopy. its old and well lived in. and very not modern in terms of technology.

their culture centers around fire and nature. living in peace and appreciating what the use of fire beings them. (wanted to do something slightly different than making the earth elves the tree dwellers, or wind. something slightly less predictable.) but then someone gets greedy.

there is a royal family line, and it wasn't that much of like, a central thing to their lives. they were just the pioneers in finding and developing their home, so they were honored with a crown and some power. but eventually, a generation or two starts to crave more. specifically soleil's great grandfather got ambitious and decided to relocate closer to the coast and start expanding from there.

so the new capital, same name, is born and that one is more similar in culture and style of a greco-roman empire.

and this is all to say, here is yet another new map. i have since moved to using minecraft to recreate the entire world. its a very long process since i have to learn how to use all these mods and stuff to make it come to life.

"Maybe there might be. Sometimes smalltime merchants hang around the camp when travel is busy." Soleil said as he stepped off and landed softly on the ground next to her. Then he'd start walking ahead down the path that curved. Large trunked trees blocking the view. At least until they'd reach the bend. Then the area opened up.

Just down a slope was the campsite. Which was more akin to a small village of multicolored tents spread around packed earth from decades of trampling feet and carts. There were at least twenty some odd people there now.

He'd turn his attention back to Hilda. Unable to help but to look fondly at her. He hardly ever saw her outside of her usual royal garb.

"There really aren't too many surprises. Besides seeing the splendor of my home over the ledge at the edge of camp." He'd point out towards where wooden railings lined where the flat ground o the camp dropped dramatically into a valley wall. Below would be his home.

However, it was hard too really call it a city since the buildings themselves were just the hollowed out massive scarletwood trees that grew there. Taller than any castle known.

"It's not really a surprise per se, since its known that Ardor isn't very fond of modern technology, but it can still be a shock over just how stuck in the past this place is. It's why I brought you here first, so you can get some of the cultural clothing. You can think of it as a souvenir to take home." He'd peer back at her with a smile.

The camp was also just one of his favorite places to visit. There were always interesting wares from all over the world in this one small space.

i keep forgetting this blog is supposed to be a multi as well. its just a much more limited list. but there are other muses on here lmao.

anyway, since i'm still on a pkmn kick a bit. you have NO IDEA how upset i was when i first saw milo (sword n shield). not because i hate him or anything. rather, i really like him.

its the fact that he's just a really buff version of my oc neri. seriously. they are so extremely similar from being green-eyed redheads to being farmers (well, neri is more of a gardener but still).

milo is just what neri aspires to be at the end of his transition. ✊😔

Immediately he perked up at the mention of coffee. Then he smirked a little before he answered. "French vanilla, of course."

He'd saddle up next to her, taking the coffee grounds from her hands and shooing her to sit in a chair. He refused to let her to do anything, even things as easy as making coffee. His excuse was that it was good for her to rest. But really, he just liked doing things for her.

Then he proceeded to fill the coffee maker with the grounds and start the process of making the coffee.

"I never really liked coffee much, not until you made the mistake of taking me to a Starbucks for the first time. Now I can't go without my overly sweet and frothy ice vanilla latte."

He had a terrible sweet tooth and was terribly basic in his likes. But he never had the chance to enjoy the small things like a overly sweet and priced coffee drink.

Soleil was quiet as he pondered the question. Realizing that no one had ever asked what his favorite color was. He also didn't know how to answer the question either. So he just smiled a little in embarrassment as he looked up at her.

"I don't know. I don't think I ever really had a favorite color. But... I do like the color blue."

He shifted his head to peer out at the window. It was a bright sunny day. The sky was mostly clear, save for a few straggling clouds. The sky was blue, like the color of cornflower petals. It made his chest hurt looking at it as he realized why he liked blue.

Quietly he spoke, not wanting to let his emotions choke him. "I think... its because I miss being able to fly. I felt free up in the sky. I could go anywhere and no one could bring me down."

And now, he had no wings at all. Nothing but ugly scars where they once were.

Soleil ducked his head down, unable to help the flush that dusted his cheeks. Then to his great dismay, when he tried to speak, his old stutter surfaced. Though it wasn't nearly as severe as it used to be.

"Th-thanks---" he cleared his throat and tried again then smiled sheepishly. "Thanks, I guess."

He had a small worn book in his hands. A book of poems his grandmother had given to him as a child. It was one of his most prized possessions. Gently, he caressed the cover.

"I used this to get over my stutter as a kid. Practice reading out loud over and over until I could read it clearly without hesitation. I try to do the same with my mission statements before turning them in. Since... sometimes the habit likes to sneak up on me sometimes."

That had been his secret, or rather, his and his Nan's. He never told anyone about his book. He was a little embarrassed about it.

Soleil raised a brow at the other. Amusement dancing in his ruby eyes. He was poised with a sword in hand, ready for battle. Or rather, a training spar. It would be the first time they would do so. Though, he was rather startled at the way the air seemed to change... It was subtle, but it was there. Warmer, more electrically charged.

"Somehow I'm not surprised that having a sword pointed at you is a turn on. Let's see what else does it for you, eh?"

Soleil was rather proud of himself for not bumbling his words when his heart was racing in his chest and he was certain that his face was already flushing. Some from nervousness and some from giddiness. He was rather excited to be in this situation. To prove himself worthy to fight along Sephiroth.

The fact that he was deeply attracted to the man really didn't help though, threatening to take him off his game and make a fool of himself.

Soleil smiled weakly at Jae, taking comfort in the overt threat. He did find it sweet that Jae was so protective of him when he didn't have to. Especially when Jae had every right to dislike him for being there at all.

He reached out to take Jae by the hand then pulled him closer. Soleil was sat on the edge of the hall that opened out into the garden. Legs dangling over the edge. He'd pull Jae down next to him, one arm winding around the smaller man's waist.

"I know, and I appreciate it. The fact that my father could only get a letter to me shows that this place is determined to keep us safe. Even if he did get in, he'd be driven right back out. Just like the rest of Shinra."

Soleil's father was enraged that Soleil dare to disobey him and leave. He's been mad about it for years and would try his damnedest to get him back. He didn't about his son's happiness. He just wanted his tool back. But Soleil refused to be a tool anymore.

"I won't give up without a fight either. I'm through being a SOLDIER just made to follow orders."

i was getting increasingly more unhappy with the world map i was making. i really wanted to have separate continents. but it just wasn't working. so i started over.

its now basically a donut.

i think i like this more. gotta mess with it more to really get a feel for it.

i am attempting to recrate statera in minecraft. but wanted to make sure it was "expansive enough" before i start building it up in world painter. well. i may have made the map entirely too small...

that's supposed to be an amazon river type big ass river and its barely a stream....

not to mention that i didn't change the elevation of the ground itself, so its its just a sharp drop off into the void.
