This part was wild man, this is probably my favorite part of the tournament arc 

deku makes a point to use his powers as little as possible, and in this arc he doesnt do it at all, and its brilliant

deku is still the risk taking madman he is in basically any other situation, but he shines here

this is what i like to imagine would happen in the theoretical “deku stays quirkless and relys on gadgets and the inviroment to get things done” concept that was the original idea around the series before it was changed

this is what you’d expect from that, deku just coming at robots with a big ass piece of metal, just keeping that with him as he runs through the course even though its slowing him down, fucking going across a rope with it strapped to his damn back , then using it as a shovel and a sled in order to just CRUSH the competition

its amazing and really shows offf the kind of scrappy fighter deku is even without a quirk, definitly made me root for him

I feel like this is the first time we truly see how far he will go for what he believes is right, he willingly broke his finger  in order to stall/give mineta a chance to throw out the trap, which potentially could have drowned the villians

its, kinda terrifying and part of the reason i adore this character

this is a interesting face in how, un deku like this smile is

if you know this character- which, im gonna assume you do for eases sake- then you’ll probably recognize dekus smiles as almost always being a little crooked or wobbley, esspecially in the begining of the series but even in the newer episodes when you see the lines representing dekus mouth they are usually a little jagged and crooded, sometimes making him look like a wierd dinosuar. 

however in this image near the begining of deku learning to not shatter his bones, is a image of a idiolized future where he’s taking down multiple villians and has a cool, confident smile reminicent of kacchans battle smile while charging up one for all.

its interesting and makes me feel like its the begining of him gaining confidence in his abilies or has a more tangible idea of what he wants to be capable of once he gains a handle of one for all

its also interesting in how mean this smile looks, most likely due to the backround association of kacchans battle smile or how aggro all mights own smile can come off as during the heat of battle, though all might tries to ofset his intimidating features with chearful body language and a lighter overall attitude, or what can be considered a type one of the saving people persona’s heroes tend to dawn, perhaps its setting a pretense on how he wants villians to percieve him 

from what i can tell there are two types of saving and combat personas, and that goes into showing what kind of hero they come off as depending on how a person takes the four options and molds their actions to suit it, and it seems deku wants to be the kind of person to save people with a smile, but strike fear into the hearts of his enemies. im interested in seeing how close to this idealized version of his dream deku will get to be in the future.

I love this face

mostly becouse its a classic kacchan face and nothing makes me happier and remembering they are cut from the same cloth and getting some bad ass angry dekus fills my heart with joy
