Love, Victor - Oh how I have waited for this to hit release. Watched it in one day (don’t judge me :P) shorter episodes being around 24 minutes, really hoping it would have been 44 minutes but I digress. This is a sequel of sorts to the film Love, Simon. Victor is a new student where Simon went to high school, who left a great legacy behind that people still talk about. Victor messages Simon in the hopes of getting some advice not ever expecting any replies. He finds friends, love, and heartache and is trying to figure out who he really is. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters and how their development / stories grew, albeit sometimes frustrating me with their poor decisions but hey we are all human. This is a must watch, especially if you have seen the movie. Lets just say they had a pretty big episode that caught me off guard and was a delight. Available on hulu.

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power - So this was on the edge of my watch list, something I probably wouldn’t have gotten to until a friend pushed me to watch it. I watched all 5 seasons in about two weeks and it was so so sweet. Following the stories of Adora and Ketra, two soldiers fighting in a war thinking they were on the right side of things. When one of them starts to question their perspective the other goes cold and distant. It has a handful of lgbt+ characters and the ending oOoOoOo. The characters are so unique and entertaining. Sure it has some of those cliche moments and half of one season that upsets me with the story but seeing the journey and watching characters and story develop was a treat. I know nothing of past she-ra or who she really is and that knowledge is not needed to watch this at all so don’t let that put you off. I hope this nudges a few of you to give it a shot.

Steven Universe - I recently just watched through the entire series and wooooooow was this amazing. Knew nothing about the show just saw tid bits here and there and just thought it was some childrens show at first. The level of queerness this show has is amazing and it shocked me that they aired this on Cartoon Network of all places. It follows a young boy named Steven who is half human and half gem. Being the first of his kind he is raised by his father along with some amazing Crystal Gems. They help him grow as a person and a gem. But not all Gems view humanity as equal. They appear not have a real trailer so I found this one that contained minimum spoilers. While some episodes seem like filler the whole series tackles so many issues and is so heartfelt. Please don’t just brush this aside and give it a chance. Cannot wait for the movie coming out.

Please, I feel like there are some European gay shows that pop up on the feed now and again but I'm not too sure.

Special - This one came out of no where and took me by surprise. IT IS SO AMAZING. The story focuses on a young man named Ryan who is finally coming out of his shell and not letting anything, including his disability and social awkwardness, stop him. This show handles its diverse characters really well, and the interactions can be bizarre and perfect while feeling so genuine and real. From the wonderful lead Ryan to the amazing mother that is always supporting him, the extroverted friend that will stand against the evil that can be their boss and the struggles that they face internally, and all the characters in between. They handle awkward scenes with such finesse and make them a treat to watch. Everything flows extremely well. The one negative thing I would say about this is that it has really short episodes clocking in at around 15 minutes, and with 8 episodes it took me only a few hours to watch the whole thing. How am I supposed to binge this if there isn’t enough to binge!? Highly recommend.

Coming Out

So in about a month I’m moving into an apartment with my boyfriend. As I am close with all of my family, coming out to them is kind of a must as they would eventually come to visit and see one bedroom.

I came out to my mom and dad yesterday and that was a little harder than I thought (I’m not terribly close to them). So much weight was felt saying one single word. Boyfriend. But it went pretty alright.

Tonight it will probably be my cousin. And then tomorrow my aunt and uncle. And I’m a stressing ever so slightly. This is a lot of ground for me to overcome in a single weekend.

The Bright Sessions - This is a bit of a different medium than what is usually posted here. This is a podcast. The teaser trailer sums it up pretty well. It follows a Dr. Bright and her sessions with patients that have peculiar abilities. The characters are AMAZING. The story is AMAZING. It develops characters in surprising ways. My favorite being Caleb with whom I have lost my mind as he thinks things through. It also features characters in the lgbt community which is pretty exciting, showing them coming into who they are as a person and how they manage that. They develop the characters really well along with giving such a fine amount of insight into a character’s thoughts and feelings. Please do give it a listen. Now Apocalypse - This one is out there. And I mean waaaaay out there. But it is very entertaining. It is a highly sexual show that explores different sexualities, lots o’ nudity. I really like all of the characters so far, they all get a fair amount of screen time and interactions with each other so that is really refreshing. I am in love with Avan Jogia (Ulysses) and Tyler Posey (Gabriel) and am excited to see how their relationship plays out as they have great chemistry. I can only imagine how much more crazy and bonkers this show will get as it goes on.
