first fic!!

so this is based in a non-apocalypse, it’s basically (literally) just with ellie as the love interest :)

also based off the chappell roan song

mom sent you to a sleep away camp for the summer. 

you begged and begged to stay home, your boyfriend, viktor, invited you to go away to italy for a month with his family. your mom tells you the usual, that you’ve ‘been spending too much time with viktor’ and that you ‘need to go outside and enjoy nature’. obviously you were pissed. missing out on a once in a lifetime, all expenses paid trip to sicily to go sleep in a nasty old camp in the woods of maine. 

the night before your departure, you call your best friend, eve, to say goodbye and you end up staying up until one in the morning. you sleep the whole car ride there. 

when you arrive, looks like a typical summer camp, but strikingly similar to the camp from friday the 13th…

hours after your parents are gone, the counselors huddle everybody up to be split into cabins. badger cabin. great. 

you settle your bags by a lower bunk bed that you had claimed and sit down to start unloading your sheets and blankets. a blonde girl with bright blue eyes walks in and you can’t help but admire her beauty before she excitedly starts talking to you. 

“hi! i’m lessi, i’m so excited to be here? what’s your name?” she speaks quickly and happily. you try to match her tone of voice as you introduce yourself to her. 

“what do you want to do today? i was thinking about going kayaking, would you care to join? has anyone else come in here yet?”

“no, some people’s bags were here already, but i haven’t seen them yet.” you stand up from the bunk. “and yeah, i would love to go kayaking, let me change, alright?”

you put on a bikini that viktor had gotten you for your birthday. it showed a bit of cleavage but you threw a tshirt on over it and walked out to the docks with lessi

“so where’re you from?” she asks you and you answer 

“oh that’s fun! i’ve been staying up in maine for the summer to visit my cousins but i actually live in cali-“ 

randomly, a body runs straight into you, trying to catch a football. they fall to the ground in front of you and you hear loud laughter coming from across the lawn. “the fuck?-“ 

a girl with shoulder length, auburn hair that’s thrown up in a bun looks up to you, shielding her eyes from the sun. “sorry princess.” she laughs and laughs harder when you give her a look. 

“what, you not gonna help me up?” 

you step over her legs and continue walking with your new companion. 

you scoff as she whistles when you continue past and walks over to the group of guys she was hanging out with. 

“the hell was that about?” lessi looks back at the group. you shrug 

at sunset, there’s a nightly campfire. straight out of a movie. you and lessi go up to the s’mores station to get a stick and a marshmallow to roast. 

someone’s hard boot steps on your foot. you curse under your breath and look up to see that smug face from earlier. 

“you again?” she grins and you ignore her, starting to walk off. she follows you.

“what’s wrong, beautiful? d’i hurt your foot?” 

you sit down at a picnic table and she sits next to you. “i’m ellie.” she holds out her hand

“im not shaking your hand.” 

“come on, sweetheart…” lessi walks over to us and introduces herself to ellie. i lean over to ellie. 

“we don’t want you here.” “yeah? because it seems like she’s so upset that i’m here.” “fine, i don’t want you here, go away.” she stays.

“so where are you comin’ from?” you look to her, annoyed expression on your face. “what cabin you in?” 

“badger!” lessi exclaims

“no shit, well me too!” ellie smirks 

you stand up abruptly, leaving your hot dog that lessi had retrieved for you in front of your empty seat. you walk back to the cabin

“what’s so wrong with me?” a voice appears next to you and you jump, she laughs. 

“i don’t like what you’re doing.” she hums in response. “i have a boyfriend.” she hums again as you open the door and sit on the bare mattress. the nearly rock hard bed dips slightly next to you

“i can see through you.” 

“what?” you snap your head to look her in the eyes

she brings her hand to the back of your head and pulls you in, kissing you quickly. 

you pause before pulling away. you don’t know if the hesitation is from shock, fear, or pleasure. 

“what the fuck?-“ 

“come on, you hesitated…-“ she smirks. that goddamn smirk 

she plays with your hair as you watch her. 

then you pull her back in, your lips meeting passionately. 

“shit-“ you murmur under your breath as you’re breathing her in like a mad woman. you never felt this with viktor.
