And he has made his distaste well known to Amy in the past.

Which means, he has to come up with a good excuse if he wants to keep his surprise for her a secret.

"Well, yeah but, uh–" He surveys his surroundings, looking for anything that might give him an idea. "This is an exception!"

"Yeah? How so?" Amy sounds suspicious. If he doesn't find an excuse quick she'll surely–

His eyes land on Shadow sitting next to him, having returned to reading quietly.

Bingo.

Or, Sonic gets caught while buying Amy's birthday gift, and that somehow results in him getting into a relationship.

Heyyy I'm currently reading ur fic for the Sonadow exchange and I'm just very curious about how it works ? Im on ao3 for less than a year so it's the first time I've seen something like that lol 🥲

Hey there! For what it's worth, I've been writing on ao3 for 5 years now and this is the first time I've seen or participated in an event like this either HAHA so you're not alone!

Basically, it was an event hosted by Quillifer for fanartists and fanfic authors! How it worked is a while ago, we submitted two things, a prompt request with things we did and didn't want, and then an offer of what we were willing to do.

After that, we were assigned a participant to fulfill their request, and I think the creation period lasted around two months. All of the works were published anonymously last weekend and stayed anonymous for a week. And then yesterday, the creators were revealed! So yeah, a whole lot of fun!

You can follow the @sonadowexch blog if you're interested in participating next year-- I'm pretty sure Quillifer is going to use the same discord server to host the Sonadow Exchange 2026, so if you want to join and see the schedule that's already been posted, I would head over to the blog, join the server, and check it out! I for one am very excited and will definitely be doing it again :)

I had the absolute pleasure of participating in the Sonadow Exchange for 2025 @sonadowexch run by the absolute amazing @quillifer

SONADOW EXCHANGE 2025 FIC REVEAL!!!

It's me again, international bestselling author Quan Millz Nebrasska here with yet another Sonadow fic to share with you all!!! It's been a week since I've posted it, but I am thrilled to finally share with you the work I created for the Sonadow Exchange 2025 event!!!

Summary:

Down on his luck and struggling to get back on his feet, Shadow finds himself more or less a permanent resident on Rouge’s couch, an embarrassing and humiliating predicament for him to be in.

To make matters worse, however, when Shadow ends up locked out of Rouge’s apartment for the weekend, he is forced to crash on the couch of the last person he would ever want to seek help from:

Sonic the Hedgehog.
