The animation in KPDH is so fucking impressive and I love it, but I just wanted to get my little pet peeve out cause it was bothering me for most of the movie, not enough to take away from anything, just something I chuckled at every time it became obvious lol It's so expressive, and the faces, especially while singing, do the effort of singing absolute justice, but because of how it makes me feel the reality of their singing, I got a little stuck on the fact that their throats don't move like they are singing. It's a small thing, but it made me think of lip-syncing videos, where you can tell they aren't putting any actual vocals into the performance.

That this was literally the only thing I noticed as not being fucking incredible really shows how good this is. Artistic quality like this is absolutely deserving of mountains of praise <3<3<3

yk I hate to be the one to say it, but rumi's entire existence is a violation of nature

and this isn't to say it's a bad thing, like it's the whole point of her character

im reiterating a point I've made many times but it really is why celine acts the way she does

rumi by nature shouldn't exist, there's no way of knowing what demon blood can do to a human. its more of a testament of rumi's character that she remains so kind despite what we know demons to be (and in a way, shows the kind of woman celine was able to raise despite the inflection of fear she protected onto rumi)

celine may not have been right in all her actions, but she had every reason to believe in what she does. and actually, her biggest issue is that she humanizes rumi too much, all to ignore the demon side. this really is a story of generational trauma, and celine is equally a victim and a perpetrator.

not to mention the fact that demons like jinu are an exception, not the rule. I've seen so many say that they'd accept rumi if they were in those shoes, but I'm having doubts about that. we can only say that because we've seen her character and motives, but in universe, we wouldn't know those things about her. it wouldn't be as easy to accept that someone you love is half demon (may I remind you that they literally kill people for their souls)

there's so many nuances to consider and thats what I love about this movie

I think there are four things that could have happened if the Idol awards had gone according to Rumi’s plans, and the original honmoon had turned gold:

1. The boring option: Rumi’s patterns and other demonic traits disappear, and she can finally be who she’s been pretending to be. Rumi thinks this has solved all her problems. She is wrong.

2. The did you really think this would work option: The patterns stay. If Rumi is lucky they wont even spread anymore, but when is she ever. She’s left with the choice to keep lying indefinitely or confess, and neither is gonna happen without a good dose of angst.

3. The Bad Ending: half-demon means that half of you is demon, and half of your body getting banished is really bad for you. Rumi half-disintegrates live on stage during the Idol Awards. Even the people who think its just special effects think it is rather tasteless. Mira and Zoey are naturally completely devestated. Celine knew this could happen and has already rationalised it to herself. The girls disagree.

4. The Other Bad Ending: the honmoon banished all demons, and if there is still some human attached to that, that gets banished too. Rumi gets dragged to the demon realm. Mira and Zoey are experiencing a lot of emotions. Gwi-Ma is going to make the most of his consolation prize. Rumi has A Bad Time. Has potential for a dramatic rescue tho

I think the big difference between Golden and What It Sounds Like that I haven’t seen people talking about it that it’s the difference between Huntr/x, and Rumi Mira and Zoey. Golden is an acceptance of their public struggles. It’s the acceptance of being the daughter of a Sunlight Sister, a child struggling to mesh there two cultures/identities, of being a “problem child”. These are the first things we learn about the characters from the fans. The things that Golden accepts are just the surface level struggles that the whole world see from Huntr/x. And What It Sounds Like confronts the real internal battles. The self acceptance of not being what your parent/guardian wanted from you. Of not being wanted or accepted by the people you consider family. Of being “too much and not enough”. Confronting these issues are at the core of what makes a person, and what makes them ashamed. And that’s the difference. The surface level “everything is perfect!” Vs “I am actually taking steps to accept and love myself in its entirety”.
