How to maximize the efficiency of your UPS

For 12 V small sealed lead-acid batteries, the discharge calibration voltage is 10.5 V; for 24 V batteries, the final discharge voltage is 21 V; for 96 V batteries, the discharge calibration voltage is 85 v. The battery is not charged in time after discharge; the battery is idle for a long time. When the power supply is interrupted, the battery with continuous floating charge will release nearly half of its capacity.

4.Pay attention to the safe operation of operators When connecting the output power supply to UPS, attention should also be paid to safety. 5.Real time monitoring At present, all intelligent UPS have operability characteristics such as communication with microcomputer and program control. When the corresponding software is installed on the microcomputer and connected to UPS through serial / parallel port, the program can be used to communicate with ups. Generally, it has the functions of information inquiry, parameter setting, timing setting, automatic shutdown and alarm. Requirements of inverter for physical environment
Due to the high integration, compact overall structure and large heat dissipation, the hybrid inverter requires high temperature, humidity and dust content in the installation environment. When installing the solar inverter, it must provide a good operating environment for the inverter. The working ambient temperature of the inverter is rated at 40 ℃. If the ambient temperature is higher than 40 ℃ ~ 50 ℃, the rated current must be reduced. Otherwise, the temperature rise of the device will be too high, which will increase the possibility of device damage (especially IGBT power module), and have a great impact on normal and safe operation. If the working environment of the inverter fails to meet the requirements of the inverter on the working environment, it will cause high failure rate of the inverter, affect the long-term, reliable and safe operation, resulting in unnecessary economic losses. Therefore, the following matters should be paid attention to in the application of the inverter.
1.Operating temperature.
The inside of the inverter is a high-power electronic component, which is easily affected by the working temperature. The product is generally required to be 0-55 ℃, but in order to ensure the safety and reliability of the work, it should be considered to leave room for use, preferably controlled below 40 ℃. If the inverter is installed in the inverter cabinet, it shall be installed on the upper part of the cabinet and strictly comply with the installation requirements in the product manual. It is absolutely not allowed to install the heating element or the element easy to heat against the bottom of the inverter.
2.Ambient temperature.
When the temperature is too high and the temperature changes greatly, condensation is easy to occur inside the inverter, and its insulation performance will be greatly reduced, or even lead to short circuit accidents. If necessary, desiccant and heater must be added to the inverter cabinet. The surrounding humidity of the inverter shall be below 90%. If the surrounding humidity is too high, the electrical insulation will be reduced and the metal part will be corroded. If restricted by the installation site, the inverter shall not be installed in a place with high humidity, and the cabinet of the inverter shall be sealed as far as possible. In order to prevent condensation when the inverter stops, a convection heater should be added.
3.Corrosive gas.
If the concentration of corrosive gas is large, it will not only corrode the leads and printed circuit boards of components, but also accelerate the aging of plastic components and reduce the insulation performance. In this case, the inverter cabinet should be made into a closed structure and air exchange. There shall be no corrosive, explosive or combustible gas, dust and oil mist around the inverter. If there are explosive and combustible gases in the surrounding environment where the inverter is installed, there are relays and contactors that are easy to generate sparks in the inverter, so fire or explosion accidents may be caused sometimes. If there is dust and oil mist around the inverter, its adhesion and accumulation in the inverter will lead to the decrease of insulation; for the inverter with forced air cooling, the temperature in the inverter will rise abnormally due to the filter blockage, so that the inverter cannot operate stably.
4.Vibration and shock.
When the inverter cabinet is subject to mechanical vibration and impact, it will cause poor electrical contact. At this time, in addition to improving the mechanical strength of the inverter cabinet, away from the vibration source and impact source, the anti-seismic rubber pad shall be used to fix the inverter cabinet and electromagnetic switch and other components that generate vibration. The vibration resistance of the inverter should be different in different types. When the vibration exceeds the allowable value of the inverter, the fastening part of the components will be loose and the relay and contactor will act wrongly, which often leads to the unstable operation of the inverter. For the vibration situation that can be foreseen in advance, the vibration of inverter should be fully considered.
5.The altitude of inverter application is usually below 1000m.
If the altitude is high, the air pressure will be high, which is easy to cause insulation damage. In addition, the cooling effect of high elevation also decreases, so it is necessary to pay attention to the temperature rise of inverter.

Manufacturers and users of UPS power supply system have long noticed the matching problem between generators and UPS, especially the harmful effects of current harmonics generated by rectifiers on power supply systems such as voltage regulators of generators and synchronous circuits of UPS. Working mode of switching power supply

In addition to the selection of regular brand batteries, we should start from the following aspects to correctly use and maintain batteries:
1.Maintain appropriate ambient temperature
Ambient temperature is an important factor affecting the life of battery. The optimum ambient temperature required by battery manufacturers is between 20℃ ~ 25 ℃. Although the discharge capacity of batteries is improved with the increase of temperature, the cost is that the life of batteries is greatly shortened. According to the test results, once the ambient temperature exceeds 25℃, the battery life will be reduced by half for every 10℃ increase. At present, UPS batteries are generally maintenance-free sealed lead-acid batteries. Their design life is generally five years, which can be achieved only under the environment required by battery manufacturers. If it fails to meet the required environmental requirements, its life span will vary greatly. In addition, the increase of ambient temperature will lead to the increase of chemical activity inside the battery, which will generate a lot of heat, and in turn will promote the increase of ambient temperature. This vicious cycle will accelerate the shortening of battery life.
2.Charging and discharging regularly
The floating charge voltage and discharge voltage in UPS power supply have been adjusted to the rated value at the time of leaving the factory. The discharge current increases with the increase of the load. The load should be adjusted reasonably in use, such as controlling the number of electronic devices such as microcomputers. Normally, the load should not exceed 60% of the UPS rated load. Within this range, the discharge current of the battery will not be excessive discharge.
Because UPS is connected with municipal electricity for a long time, in the environment of high quality power supply and few blackouts, the storage battery will be in floating charge for a long time, which will lead to the reduction of the activity of the conversion between chemical energy and electric energy, accelerate aging and shorten the service life of the battery. 3.Utilizing Communication Functions

The corresponding software is installed on the computer, and UPS is connected through serial/parallel ports. By running the program, the computer can communicate with UPS. Generally, it has the functions of information inquiry, parameter setting, timing setting, automatic shutdown and alarm. Through information inquiry, information such as input voltage, UPS output voltage, load utilization ratio, battery capacity utilization ratio, in-machine temperature and power frequency can be obtained. Through parameter setting, basic characteristics of UPS, battery maintenance time and battery exhaustion alarm can be set. Through these intelligent operations, it greatly facilitates the use and management of UPS power supply and its batteries.
4.Replace batteries in time.
At present, the number of batteries equipped with large and medium UPS power supply varies from 3 to 80, or even more. These individual batteries form battery packs through circuit connections to meet the needs of UPS DC power supply. In the continuous operation and use of UPS, due to the difference in performance and quality, the performance of individual batteries is degraded and the storage capacity is not up to the requirements and damage is inevitable. When one or more batteries in the battery pack are damaged, maintenance personnel should check and test each batteries to eliminate damaged batteries. When replacing new batteries, we should strive to purchase batteries of the same type as those of the same manufacturer.
