Why did MTMTE/LL end?

I’ve been gone from the fandom for awhile. Recently I decided to return and reread up MTMTE/LL only to discover it ended! Oh no! I heard the ending was well done for the most part.

However, I was just wondering why James Roberts is not writing anymore. I know it’s been 7ish years of writing this series for him, so it could be that he was just ready to move on. I’m just curious as the reason this series written by him has ended. If someone could just fill me in I’d be very grateful
