Hi, I don't know how much you know about the Cascades' wildlife, but bear traps are actually an invasive species. I know this is kind of derailing the original post, but its important and this is a good chance to maybe educate some people.

Bear traps are an extremely invasive species. They got there from people having pet domestic bear traps that they often just released into the wild or the bear trap escaped and became a stray, and their populations have been growing exponentially ever since. If you ever see one, please report it.

Invasive bear traps have been wreaking havoc on the Cascades' ecosystem, and have drastically reduced the population of native species such as Chinook Salmon. They also have no natural predators in the area due to most animals in the cascades not being able to digest metal (the majestic squirrels are the exception as they are too small to defeat a bear trap in battle).

Again, sorry for derailing the post, but I care a lot about Seattle area's wildlife so this is important to me. Please watch out for bear traps, as a lot of people just are not informed about them.
