The same groups of people (men and patriarchal women) who despise and shame muscular female bodies also do their best to make it seem *cringe* when women are too self-reliant by sneeringly referring to them as "girlboss" and "strong independent women" - not to mention any number of other epithets related to our wellness and freedom, such as "bitter dried up career women" and "childless cat ladies."
Tumblr media
Every day I come across videos and comments laughing at women for being independent and not wanting a man's help, even when the women in question don't struggle very much in what they're doing and actually accomplish their tasks.
"Mary Sue" is a term used for female characters who are too competent; it's those who come too close to exhibiting the skill level of any "badass" male character. "Marty Sue" is supposedly the male equivalent, but I've never heard it used. I HAVE heard "Mary Sue" about a million times though.
Half the population benefits from women being uneducated, ignorant, unskilled, and physically weak, and the women who serve that population gleefully help to get the rest of us "back in line" with this image of womanhood.
Reject it. Be the physically strong and OBNOXIOUSLY educated and skilled woman that would irritate men and patriarchal women.

The other day I began mildly worrying about a tiny potential health issue, and I told myself that it's fine and I'll just deal with it if I need to. Despite reassuring myself this way it must have gotten under my skin, because over the next couple of days I found myself suddenly having vague worries about the future in several different directions and getting depressed. As soon as I noticed my thought pattern I stopped and traced it back to when it started, and it all began with this one small worry. It had weakened my emotional armor and created a snowball effect, gathering up more fears - many of which were purely hypothetical. They're just phantoms.
Fear is a cancer, and we can't entertain it for a second. We need to root it out immediately and fill ourselves with the knowledge that we can and will be able to handle anything that occurs with God's help. We're never on our own.
"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
- Isaiah 41:10

Evil people are the most boring and commonplace people on earth. Anyone can blurt out whatever cruel thing comes to mind. Anyone can prey on others, cheat people, lie their way through situations, and use people to get what they want. Anyone can throw morality, decency, and honor to the wind and do whatever is convenient.
People like that tend to think they're special for their unrestrained cruelty, but actually the exact opposite is true: they're the most garden-variety type of person imaginable. Just look around at how awful human society is and how many people have this exact character if you want to know how painfully common and banal it is.
What is actually rare is people who express themselves with grace and maturity, remaining dignified, righteous, and pure of heart in the coarse presence of the spiritually and morally impoverished masses. These people are unforgettable for all the right reasons, and being in their presence for a while is transformative. It makes you want to be a better person yourself because of the beauty of their example.
Nothing less than this sort of exemplary character intrigues me anymore.

When you know only with the mind, you don't truly know it. When you know from the heart, then you truly do know. So aim to know with the heart.
