NOT STRONG ENOUGH… 001.
Daniella LaRusso was sitting by the pool, surrounded by her twin sister, Samantha, and their new friends, Yasmine and Moon. The summer was winding down, and they were taking full advantage of the last few days before school started again.
The air was warm, the music was blasting, and laughter echoed over the backyard. Daniella kept her sunglasses perched on the bridge of her nose, pretending to listen while the girls chatted around her.
The night before, Sam had confided in her about the whole incident with Yasmine's car. Daniella had stayed inside for the day, deciding to avoid the chaos, which, in hindsight, seemed like the best decision she'd made all week.
Apparently, some guy had gone off the rails, and things had gotten out of hand—thankfully, Daniella wasn't there to witness it.
"Okay, you were totally right, this is so much fun," Sam turned to Yasmine, her eyes glinting with excitement.
Daniella shot her a side glance. "We're gonna be in so much shit if Mom and Dad find out," she muttered, half-heartedly trying to rein in the bubbling anxiety she felt.
All three girls burst into giggles, but Daniella couldn't help the nervous tension crawling up her spine. She was never one for breaking the rules, and this felt like one big misstep that would come crashing down at any moment.
Yasmine chimed in, eyeing the pool where Kyler was standing. "You'll be fine. Plus, it's always better to be the one throwing the party," she said, looking out across the backyard where Kyler stood by the pool, his eyes locked on Sam.
"And Kyler's been eye-banging you all day," Yasmine added, smirking as the others turned to look at him.
"Gross," Daniella muttered under her breath, her stomach turning at the thought. Kyler had always given her bad vibes, but now, seeing the way he was watching Sam, it made her uncomfortable. She couldn't understand why Sam didn't seem to notice or care.
Moon stood up and moved toward the edge of the pool to capture Rory's flip on her phone. Daniella leaned back, stretching her legs out across the lawn chair, trying to relax.
The music blared around her, and she closed her eyes for a moment, letting herself unwind. But then, everything shifted.
"Hey, hey, hey! What the hell is going on here?!" Daniella's father, Daniel LaRusso, boomed, his voice cutting through the music. Daniella snapped her head toward the sound of his voice, her heart dropping into her stomach.
She looked over at Sam, her face pale with sudden panic. Daniella gave her a look—an unmistakable "I told you so" look—and both girls scrambled to their feet, rushing to their father as the other kids scattered in a flurry of confusion and embarrassment.
"All right, everybody get out of here, right now." He paused the music and gestured toward the group of teens who had begun to scatter, trying to avoid getting caught in the crossfire.
Daniella and Sam hurried to their dad, their faces flushed with embarrassment. "We're sorry, Dad," Sam spoke up, her voice soft, her eyes avoiding his. Daniella, feeling her heart race, added nervously, "We had no idea you were gonna be home this early."
Daniel sighed, taking in the scene. The backyard was a mess—empty cups, leftover snacks, and a few straggling kids. "It doesn't matter what time I get home you guys. You think we want strangers in the backyard making a mess?" Daniel pointed to the teenagers and the mess of the backyard.
Daniella, still feeling the weight of the situation, spoke up quietly, "I told Sam not to throw one if that's any better," she muttered, her voice laced with guilt. She didn't want to throw her sister under the bus, but the words slipped out before she could stop them.
Daniel turned to Daniella, his expression softening, though there was still a trace of concern in his eyes. "I know, Daniella. But Sam's not the only one who makes decisions here. We all need to be responsible, especially when things get out of hand. I don't want you to feel like you have to cover for her." his voice still calm but firm. "But right now, the most important thing is that we clean this up."
Daniella nodded, grateful that he wasn't furious with them, but the shame still hung heavy on her chest.
She could feel the weight of her father's gaze on her as she muttered, "I'll help clean up," before turning to walk back toward the house.
She wasn't sure if her dad understood why she'd gone along with Sam's plan or if he even cared. But one thing was clear—he wasn't angry, just disappointed. And that felt almost worse.
Daniella retreated to her room, closing the door softly behind her. Her room was a haven, simple and comforting—beige walls with small white flowers, a soft rug beneath her feet, and posters of her favorite singers hanging crookedly on the walls. This was where she could breathe, where she didn't have to pretend to be anyone else.
But as she sat on her bed, she heard her parents' voices floating up from downstairs, their conversation carried through the open windows. She felt her heart sink when she heard her father's voice, frustration creeping in.
"I don't like these new friends," Daniel said. "It's not like them. Why can't Daniella be at coding camp with Eli and Demetri, and Sam with Aisha at robot camp?"
The words stung. She could feel the weight of his disappointment, and a lump formed in her throat. It was true—she had been avoiding Eli and Demetri for most of the summer, all for a group of people who didn't really know her. She had abandoned the friends who were there for her during her toughest moments, and now, she was paying the price for it.
Her hands shook as she grabbed her phone from the nightstand, unlocking it and scrolling to Eli's contact. Without thinking, she typed a quick message: "I'm coming over. Please have Demetri there, too."She hit send and threw her phone on the bed, standing up quickly. She grabbed her keys, wiped away the few tears that had slipped down her face, and rushed to the car.
The drive was silent. The world outside blurred as she focused on the road ahead. She wasn't sure what she was going to say to Eli and Demetri, but she knew she needed them. She needed to fix something, to repair the friendships she had broken, before it was too late.
Daniella pulled up to Eli's house, her hands gripping the steering wheel as she tried to steady her breathing. Her mind raced, filled with anxiety over what might happen once she walked through that door. She couldn't shake the fear that they might not welcome her back—that they might be done with her for good.
Taking a deep breath, she tried to calm herself, but the weight of everything she had done—the way she'd ghosted her friends for a new group, the way she'd treated them—hung over her like a heavy cloud.
With a shaky exhale, Daniella stepped out of her car and walked up to the front door. Her heart pounded louder with every step, but she knew she had to do this. She had to face them, even if it meant hearing the words she feared the most.
Reaching the door, she hesitated for a moment before ringing the doorbell. Her nerves were on edge, and she couldn't stop her hands from trembling. The door swung open, and Demetri stood there, arms crossed, an eyebrow raised as he looked her over.
"What do you want?" he asked, his voice skeptical but not hostile.
Daniella felt the lump in her throat. She was close to breaking, but she needed to get this out.
"Let me speak, please," she pleaded, her voice shaking with emotion.
Demetri seemed to notice the vulnerability in her eyes, and after a long pause, he stepped aside, motioning for her to come in. Daniella's heart hammered as she stepped inside, her eyes quickly scanning the room for Eli. She found him sitting on the couch, his gaze meeting hers. He didn't say anything, but Daniella could feel his quiet attention on her.
She walked toward the couch and took a seat beside him, trying to calm her racing heart. Demetri sat next to her, and the three of them waited in an uncomfortable silence.
Daniella's fingers twisted together in her lap, her nervous energy almost too much to handle. Finally, she took a deep breath and looked up at Eli and Demetri, her voice trembling as she began to speak.
After spending the evening watching Star Wars movies and 10 Things I Hate About You with Eli and Demetri, Daniella finally made her way back home. Despite feeling better after talking things through with her friends, a lingering feeling of unease stuck with her. She knew there was something she still needed to say to Sam, and she couldn't ignore it any longer.
Her footsteps were quiet as she walked down the hallway and stopped in front of Sam's bedroom door. Taking a deep breath, she knocked lightly.
"Come in!" Sam's voice called from the other side, and Daniella slowly pushed the door open, stepping inside. She made her way to the bed where Sam was sitting, reading a book. Without wasting any time, Daniella sat down beside her, turning to face her twin.
"I'm done with Yasmine," Daniella blurted out, her words tumbling out quickly.
Sam blinked in surprise, her brow furrowing as she put her book down. "Why?! Did she do something?" she asked, concern evident in her voice.
Daniella let out an exasperated sigh, frustration creeping into her tone. She had tried to be patient with Sam, but it was hard to ignore how oblivious she seemed to Yasmine's true nature. "She's always making fun of someone, and that's just not who I am! And it's not you either. Look, I'm not saying that you have to stop being friends with her, but I'm not going to keep being someone I hate. I can't do it anymore."
Sam's expression softened as she processed her sister's words, the realization starting to settle in. "I thought maybe being friends with popular people would make my life better. But honestly? It made it worse," Daniella confessed, her voice quieter now, as if the weight of her own reflection was finally hitting her.
Sam's heart softened at her sister's honesty. Without a word, Sam pulled her into a hug, holding her tightly. Daniella hugged her back, feeling the tension ease from her shoulders. She hadn't realized how much she needed this.
When they pulled away, Daniella smiled at her sister. "Goodnight, S," she said, her voice filled with a tenderness she hadn't realized was missing.
"Goodnight, Ella," Sam replied, her smile matching Daniella's as they shared a quiet moment together.
As Daniella left the room, she felt a little lighter, like a burden had been lifted. For the first time in a while, she felt like she was on the right path—back to the people who truly mattered.

NOT STRONG ENOUGH.. 000.
[ love triangle, friends to lovers to strangers, slow burn, jealousy, and mutual pining ]
[ i don't know why i am, the way i am. ]
SEASON ONE!
- SYNOPSIS ᥫ᭡.
Daniella LaRusso had always lived in the shadow of her twin sister, Samantha. Sam was the golden child—perfect, confident, and adored by everyone. On the surface, Daniella seemed to have it all too. She was talented, smart, and beautiful, but underneath, she felt like the one who never truly belonged. She was the girl who always had to pick up the broken pieces of everyone else's lives, but never felt like she was truly seen. To her, it seemed like Sam got all the praise, while Daniella was just the girl who quietly held things together.
Why did she feel this way? It was because she convinced herself she deserved all the bad things that happened to her. The way her life unfolded made her believe she wasn't worthy of happiness. Her only real friends were Eli and Demetri, the outsiders who always had her back.
But when Daniella found herself drawn to Yasmine and Moon, the popular girls at school, she distanced herself from Eli and Demetri without a second thought. She and Sam joined their new friends and quickly became part of the in-crowd. It was everything she thought she wanted. But as the days passed, Daniella couldn't shake the guilt. She felt like a terrible person for abandoning the only real friends she ever had.
Her biggest regret, though, was Eli. She had always secretly had a crush on him, but now it seemed like there was no way to turn back. She'd burned that bridge, and it hurt more than anything she cared to admit. Just when Daniella thought things couldn't get any more complicated, a new kid showed up in the Valley—someone who would turn her world upside down.
Then Cobra Kai made its return to the Valley, and everything Daniella thought she understood about herself, her friends, and her life was thrown into chaos.
As her father, Daniel LaRusso, reopened the dojo and reignited his past, Daniella found herself dragged back into karate—something she never thought she'd want again. But as she trained with her dad and reconnected with the world of karate, she realized things were changing in ways she couldn't control.
Her friendships, especially with Yasmine and Moon, began to shift as old tensions resurfaced. Her relationship with Sam became strained as their lives took different paths, and the weight of her past choices began to feel heavier than ever.
Eli, Demetri, and the others weren't just memories anymore—they were people she desperately wished she could fix things with, but it seemed impossible.
Daniella's life would never be the same again. She had to face the consequences of her actions, rebuild lost friendships, and navigate the tangled mess of her feelings for Eli—all while coming to terms with what karate meant for her, her family, and her future. In the end, it was all because of karate that Daniella found herself forced to confront the truth about who she really was.
