quick heads up!

while i won’t be officially moving until after the tourney is done, if only because the mod blog is attached to this one, i will be archiving this blog and starting fresh very soon! i’m keeping my url the same so if you want to go ahead and give the new blog a follow now, you know what to do-- i just wanted to get around to changing it now!

Recap & Extra Information For Newcomers!

“With the tournament fast approaching, we thought it might be wise to give a little update on our remaining available slots… And recap a bit of extra information our new friends from Fodlan might need to know! First, let’s take a look at our remaining slots.” We are still taking entries from EVERYONE, but Fodlan muses are being given priority! You may enter up to two muses, but they must be in two different categories. Duplicates of existing entries are allowed, even within the same category! We may have two Edelgards duke it out in axes or one in axes and one in swords, for example!

Swords – 1 slot

Lances – 2 slots

Axes – 2 slots

Ranged – 1 slot

Magic – 1 slot

Joust – 1 slot

Flying – 2 slots

Clash of Claws – 2 slots

To enter the tournament, simply send the halidomhappenings blog an ask with your muse’s name and url if your blog is a sideblog, the category you would like to compete in, and your time zone! If you are a magic user, please include the element you will cast. If you are a ranged user, please include what you will be using. ( A bow, throwing knives, etc. ) You may also send in your mount’s species and name, should it be applicable.

Once your muse has been registered for a bracket, you may look for a favour and a seashell to give them a buff! The matches will be determined by the rolls of a d20, and having those two items on you will work to your benefit. For more information on how those rolls will work, check out this post!

A favour is a gift from one muse to another, usually a friend, expressing their faith in the competitor. It can be anything– A brooch, a ring, a scarf… Anything that might have sentimental value. Your competing muse may only receive ONE favour, and it will give them a dire save bonus: A bad roll like a nat1 will be re-rolled! A muse may only give out one favour, but a mun may give out as many as they like so long as they use different muses to do so. Tournament competitors may give out favours as well, but they must be given to someone in a different bracket. Once you have a favour ( you may of course, enter without one if you’re feeling brave! ) you may check in and select a seashell buff to use! Checking in is giving the mods permission to start rolling your matches. Please do not do so until you are entirely ready, as you may not come back and update us on things later. 

To check in, send one more ask to the mod blog listing your muse’s name and sideblog if applicable, the category they are entered in, a description of your favour and who it is from (muse name and url!), as well as your seashell buff of choice. If you did not include a mount name and species before, you may do so now. And that’s that! You’re all set! 

The seashell buffs are as follows:

LION’S PAW: gives you ADVANTAGE on one roll during match

SNAIL: gives your opponent DISADVANTAGE on one roll during match

CONCH: gives a +1 to one ability roll for any competitor (i.e. +1 on a strength contest in melee or +1 on a ranged archery score)

CORAL: gives you an extra strike / spell / projectile / flourish to possibly increase your overall score

CATCH OF THE DAY: feeling lucky? a random shell from the above will be assigned to each of your matches.

Three Houses Entries soon to open!

“Long time no see, everyone… Or given who this announcement is aimed at, it’s good to meet you. At 1pm CST today, we will be opening up tournament entries once more so that our new friends from Fodlan will have a chance to compete. We will announce at the time that entries are open, but before that, I feel as if I should probably explain some of the basics again. I understand that anyone who has competed before or has already signed up may already know all of this, but there’s a good chance that our new signups won’t be as sure.

Before I explain what this is, please be aware that those from the Three Houses take priority. Everyone else had a chance to enter as of last month, so we will be making an exception to first come first serve.
