Hunger Games Thoughts
I just finished reading the whole book (It's my first book of the year so yay) and I have a lot of mixed feelings! Like OMG the deaths are so much more gruesome and the mutts part at the end, WTF?! I'm also pretty disappointed because we got less of president Snow, and more of Avox (which I learned about them very recently and they are one of the reasons why I wanted to read the book instead of relying on the movies like I've been over the past few years). I didn't like Peeta much? (but tbh I never liked him in the movies too) but at least in the books he's trying to do something, trying to create a sense of normality for Katniss with his plain remarks, I think?
And it got me thinking, would I survive the hunger games if I had to participate in them? I mean, I would definitely volunteer, I wasn't stable at the ages of mentally, so I might've volunteered because I was pissed at my family. I would've been wooing over Cato tbh the entire time and try to make him know that we are somehow of allies because he would've been my best shot at winning, I would've spent the entire time hiding, I would've been awful when it comes to sleep, I wouldn't sleep when I'm supposed to sleep and I wouldn't wake up when I'm supposed to wake up lol, and over all, I would've snapped and stopped. fighting at some point.
P.S. I should probably stop reading books because I like a couple of minor background characters .-.

— “There are patterns to life… rhythms. It is so easy, while trapped in just the one life, to imagine that times of sadness or tragedy or failure or fear are results of that particular existence. That it is a by product of living a certain way, rather than simply living. I mean, it would have made things a lot easier if we understood there was no way of living that can immunize you against sadness. And that sadness is intrinsically part of the fabric of happiness. You can’t have one without the other. Of course, they come on different degrees and quantities. But there is no life where you can be in a state of happiness for ever. And imagining there is just breeds more unhappiness in the life you’re in.”

— “Every second of every day we are entering a new universe. And we spend so much time wishing our lives were different, comparing ourselves to other people and to other versions of ourselves, when really most lives contain degrees of good and degrees of bad”

— Fire
Every part of her
That changed
That got scraped off
Because of schoolyard laughter
Or the advice of grownups
Long gone
And the pain of friends
Already dead.
She collected those bits off the floor.
Like wood shavings.
And she made them into fuel.
Into fire.
And burned.
Bring enough to see for ever.
