Something i wish was spoken about in science fiction more is how animals adapted to the changes in environments and technology.
Not just “x species died from climate change” or “y species only exist in captivity”. But like… how do the animals that adapted to cyber punk setting act/work?
Birds that not only understand that glass and windows exist, but lure prey or predators into dive bombing the “puddle” on the side of a building.
Frogs/toads that evolved to glow like lightning bugs or algae to blend in with our led/ neon covered city scapes.
Bears being exactly the same since theres no way to improve on a bear.
Looking at urban animals has become a lot more fulfilling after learning to not anthropomorphise them. Like the sparrows in the underground section of Helsinki railway station. I used to look at them mildly saddened, thinking that the poor things must have flown in here by accident and now can't get out. But they aren't trapped, really. They're smart birds, surely if they can find their way in, they could find their way out if they really wanted to. They don't care about human concepts of freedom, or manmade vs. natural environments. They are just as free wherever they are.
Here they are safe from the elements, safe from predators, clearly unbothered by the people. There's plenty of odd random scraps for food, and other sparrows to hang out with, and considering the way they sing, this is a place worth marking as territory. If they were trapped and distressed, I don't think that one would be yelling "THIS IS MY HOUSE. IF YOU'RE ANOTHER MAN AND YOU'RE IN MY HOUSE, FUCK YOU FOR BEING IN MY HOUSE."
They're here for the same reason as I am: less noise, wind, and cars, and easier access to deli ham.

Over my life I’m hearing a lot less car alarms go off randomly in parking lots.
And I don’t know if that’s because car alarms are getting a lot better or a lot worse.

This morning i found a bee in the bottom of a flower pot. I dont knownif it was sleeping (warm), stuck (there was a tiny spiderweb near by), or just lost.
But i nudged the liitle fella with a leaf until he climbed on and when he didn’t fly away i deposited them on a zinnia flower.
The little dude IMMEDIATELY got to work pollinating.
Just imagine, you were trapped somewhere over night. Maybe arrested, kidnapped, or just drunk and sleeping in a ditch.
Then an alien ABDUCTS YOU. Frees you of your trap cause i guess they’re chill, and drops you off at cash register cause THATS where they usually see people, humans must just like them.

We need to give John W some credit. He started as an optimistic and slightly self absorbed army vet, then He took a super-serum and became… slightly more self absorbed.
We know from Captain America 1 the super serum enhances your personality and amplifies good and bad traits. That’s how you can get a paragon like Steve Rogers and a Psychopath with a god complex like red skull.
Between those two extremes JW went from a slightly naive but realistic guy in the military, to a bit of an asshole but still incredibly realistic guy in the military.
Dude could have been a supervillain, became slightly rude.

it can be true that his actions are not the fault of others AND that he can be a victim. let’s not pretend that the U.S. doesn’t use and abuse its soldiers and that he’s not dealing with the trauma of ALL THAT on a general level - plus shoving the Captain America shield in his hands, knowing full well they were setting him up to fail from the very beginning. he might not be a great guy but we can still sympathize/empathize with him and view him as a morally grey character.
#sure there was the murder#but like#he just watched his BFF die#steve had all of hydra to fight after bucky died#the roid rage wore off eventually#like his darkest moment was just being a bad dad.#hes just a dude

Yugi is known for cheating. But he shares a brain with Yami, the pharaoh, ie someone with the ultimate card of “im in charge” so whenever he cheats it becomes legal so its not cheating.
that’s the real power of Yugi’s necklace. Everyone just subconsciously goes along with his rule changes because they recognize him as the guy who beheads you if you beat him
#yugi cheats constantly#yugioh#yugi mutou#yami yugi#yu gi oh#kiba#seto kaiba#kaiba hates him not cause he lost#but because for a moment the necklace made him respect someone poorer than him#also#Pharaoh Yami having his slaves xarve 3 more pot of greed cards of stone

The scene in thunderbolts where they’re saving everyone from falling debris is great. It’s very grounded and physical and gives everyone a chance to be heroic in a tangible way.
And the part where they’re all lifting the huge slab is great. It’s a little silly and kinda “superhero TM”. But it’s a superhero movie so that’s fine.
But like… Yelena and Ava didn’t need to be there.
Like for the whole scene and movie obviously they’re necessary. Great characters glad we had Elena as the focus and I’m not saying they aren’t important to the story. I mean specifically about lifting that slab.
With the ridiculous feats of strength every super soldier character has done for the entire movie. And with how many tons that slab weighed. Like physically I don’t think they helped at all.
It’s fine. It’s cute and I know it was all for that moment where the camera zooms out and they’re all standing next to each other. But like…
Yelena and Ava were the first two to run over and help Alexi. A great moment emotionally but contributing actively nothing and only putting themselves in danger for moral support. Which I guess is also the climax of the movie so maybe it’s fine.
Just like… shuffle them around? Make John and Bucky run first and when they’re combined strength isn’t enough, the people who don’t have super speed can arrive and finish it off.
Or just, have the super agile characters pull everyone else out of the way.

Well, at first the classic pure of heart test might seem tricky. But we were able to figure out that it less judged your soul or nature and more just focused on your actions in life.
Now doesn’t seem to be able to differentiate between your birth and the start of your life. So combine that with liberal uses of reanimation magic and you can draw that sword with a heart pure as a babes.
Writing prompt. You and your friends figure out the “hack” to drawing the sword from the stone.

feel like there’s an unmentioned force power is detecting plot armor. And I think there’s an in world mechanic for it.
The force is still tired with fate and destiny and stuff. While being this omniscient, Omni presence force with a will of its own that always pushes things to balance. Jedi give into the force, sith push against it and serve their own will.
But if you’re defying the will of the force, you’ve gotta feel what way it’s pushing right?
Every time our heroes narrowly escape by the skin of their teeth and the will of the force, Darth Vader is sitting there like “hacks, I sense hacks.”

Listen, everybody deserves to like what they like and not be treated poorly because of it. But disco?
Like this can be great in public settings. Fun dance songs. Roller disco seems fun as hell.
But some people apparently listen to disco like, at home. Behind closed doors with no one else around.
Disco’s a great public space music, but if you’re pouring yourself a glass of something, light and candles, and turning on disco… I’m suspicious. That’s all I’m saying.

My personal head cannon for pokemon is that all of the Pokémon games aren’t just from the perspective of your player character, They’re being told out of your character’s journal. So you’re safe file is just the version of events you wrote down.
That’s why all the characters names are just their profession or a brief physical description, like bug catcher rick or youngster George or pretty lady Jeanine. That’s why most of the villains are named grunt, you didn’t bother learn the names of every team rocket member.
Your safe file is even you writing in a journal.
So every time you restart from a save to get past a annoying battle. You’re just not writing down all the times you lost.
#pokemon#pokémon#pokemon games#headcanon#writing prompt#i’m just saying your rivals journal is probably from a wildly different perspective.
