Hello! Thanks for your interest in our future events, we're so glad that you're eager to join. Apologies for the delay in our reply, summer is a crazy busy time in RL for our mods, so we're just catching up. We have an event planned for the winter and will be announcing the launch dates etc in the next couple of months. We hope you'll join us then!

I don't really know if it's especially of interest, but I felt incredibly inspired by the Spirk in a Cave event and decided to take on the task of binding the collection into a book.

My biggest motivation was to show the incredible scale of work that all of these creatives did with an ultimate page count of approximately 675 pages.

Additionally, I wanted to throw it out that if anyone else is interested in binding a book of the event I'd be more than happy to send them the pdf I created (and save them the 10 odd hours of formatting).

Thanks for everything you do and for putting the event together ❤️❤️

La Cueva de la Ozh'esta

An Art Piece for Spirk in a Cave by Sim (self-made-purgatories)

For thousands of years, humans used their hands as stencils to leave marks on the walls of these caves in Argentina. Now, for the first time, a Vulcan and his human t'hy'la leave similar marks of their own: a ta'al (Vulcan salute) and an ozh'esta (Vulcan finger embrace) to tell their timeless story among the ancient hands.

Inspired by La Cueva de las Manos (The Cave of the Hands), Rio Pinturas, Santa Cruz, Argentina.

Created with stencils based on my own hand and the hand of my own t'hy'la. Natural pigment (burnt sienna), cinnamon and powdered sugar (yes, really) on paper.

With gratitude, as always, to my dear friends @a-most-beloved-fool and @lichqueenlibrarian for your encouragement while seeing me through the many failed attempts to bring this idea to life.

If The Plans Change

(a fic for @spirkevents Spirk in a cave event) Kirk/Spock, alternate first meeting, time jumps, fluff and humor

Featuring:

🪐 huddling for warmth

🪐 correspondents to lovers

🪐 a great deal of unnecessary information about taxonomy

Excerpt:

“I’m Jim Kirk,” Jim said. “Lieutenant Commander on the Savant.”

“You are known to me,” the Vulcan informed him, without inflection. “We have corresponded.” He set something on the ground and a soft light began to illuminate the cave. A lantern— a beautiful one, the way most Vulcan things were beautiful despite their supposed commitment to logic. This was shaped like a flower similar to a lotus, the light coming from the inside of petals that spread wide when the lantern was opened.

Jim tried to think of what Vulcans he’d met before, while his head thudded dully. The Vulcan ambassador had been at his Starfleet graduation, but he’d been much older, of course. Then there’d been that Vulcan woman he’d flirted with— incredibly unsuccessfully— on Anzora 5. But also… “Spock,” he exclaimed, feeling a hot flush shoot through him.

Spock. They’d hadn’t actually ever met in person, though they had been planning on it. They’d both applied for leave when their respective ships were conveniently close and Jim… he’d been so excited. He’d bought a new shirt for the occasion, a blue he’d been assured had matched his eyes.

“You cancelled,” Jim remembered now. “Just a few days before we were going to meet.”

“I am sorry for it,” Spock said. Jim recognized him now. His hair was longer than it had been back then, falling down around his shoulders— Jim had heard it was traditional for Vulcans when they were in their mourning period— and of course he looked much different in Vulcan robes. He’d pulled out a medkit and was scanning Jim with the little portable scanner. “I had an unavoidable emergency.”

Jim laughed again and it hurt again.

“I believe you have a concussion,” Spock told him, placing his fingers on Jim’s cheek and gently turning his head to scan the place where Jim had bashed his head on a rock.

“I heard about your father,” Jim said. “I had no idea he was your father, before then— I met him before, at my graduation, you know— but then I saw your name listed in the obituary… I grieve with thee.” He’d looked up Vulcan mourning practices back then. He’d been going to send something— a card maybe, but then it had seemed too… something. Desperate, maybe. Attention seeking. He had been paralyzed with the fear that it would be unwanted. Jim Kirk, the boldest officer in the ‘fleet until it came to actual feelings.

Spock’s mouth twitched a little and he swallowed.

“Thank you,” he said, voice rough. “It was several years ago.”

Jim smiled. “It still hurts even after a few years.”

Spock said nothing to that, only held the regenerator up over Jim’s wound. “This will help with the wound but won’t heal your concussion.”

“I know,” Jim reassured him. “I’ve had concussions before.”

Spock frowned. “You should be careful— your physiology is fragile. Multiple traumatic brain injuries can have lasting consequences for humans.”

Jim grinned at that. “You sweet talker, you.”

The Spirk in a Cave event starts today! We'll be dropping cave themed fics every day for....a while, I forget.

Anyway the only one up so far is mine, but as it's 29k it should keep you busy till the next one drops. I tried out the sentinel/guide AU, which was very fun, plus a cave that is completely pitch black where they have to stay for days.
