there’s this one episode of deep cuts with hasan minhaj where he gets asked if it was a hard choice to go back to original pronunciation of his name. he answers by telling this story of how he used to go by sean when he started comedy bc he was told that no one would be able to pronounce his name. eventually he’s like fuck this, what am i doing? and goes back to hasan. flash forward to when he went on ellen (this was like 2019): his parents drove in long ways to see him live and ellen says his name wrong white introducing him. he sees his mom kinda cringe in the audience and decides, fuck this, what am i doing? and corrects her. on the drive back, he says, his dad was pissed bc he thought he wasted half his time (4/7 minutes or smth) on something like correcting her on his name. and when he’s recounting this to the audience, he says something that always stuck with me, he goes “that’s the difference between our generation and our parents generation. they’re always trying to survive. and i mean survival is the thing so just go by whatever she calls you. and that’s cool, i think when dad, you know, came in ‘82 he survived for us. but i’m trying to live.”

im reading batman: ego and batman says gotham is the largest city in the country. gotham (im pretty sure) is canonically in new jersey so i was like wait a damn second fr?? so then I was like wait the largest city in the us is sitka in alaska (according to wikipedia) with a total area of 12471 km2 and that’s like big as hell. like, no wonder batman has like 15 kids he needs one for each sector of gotham or else everything will go to shit 😭😭
