one negative effect of there being a Newsies: the Musical proshot is that later casts and productions will too often try to replicate that show rather than reinterpret the script and the characters for themselves

as an example I think I would like certain musical productions a lot more if the actors actually played Jack Kelly rather than played Jeremy Jordan playing Jack Kelly, or played Racetrack instead of Ben Cook, etc.

god i love girls in newsies. Goddd. i love katherine plumbers heart and soul and how she has her own dreams shes trying to explore while also living in an incredibly misogynistic time period (and fandom :/) i love how that doesnt stop her and instead motivates her to work harder to prove herself. i love medda and how she fights for whats right even though theres incredibly high risk factors for her. i love hannah and how shes the Only person on pulitzers staff to actually stand up to him. i love smalls and how shes comes for a fun time not a long time and god when shes there is it the best 30 seconds of my life. i love my brooklyn girls who had to work 10x harder to prove they are not to be messed with. i love my spot conlon who has an incredibly hard name to live up to for her sake and the sake of her girls. i love sarah jacobs and her kindness even when she really shouldnt be. i love esther jacobs and the fact that she does just want the best for her family while also trying to keep their spirits up.
