If you think about it…. the acronym KYS isn’t saying “kill yourself,” it’s saying Kill Your Self. Three words. As in, kill the concept of the “Self” - your consciousness’s perception that it is an individual, that it has one meaningful isolated identity that is “you,” that it is not but a droplet in the grand ocean of interconnected souls of all living beings in this universe. I think this is beautiful. Embrace ego death and become one with everything. Everyone should KYS

going back to this moment

we see a grumpy haruka and an excited michiru

haruka is grumpy because it’s morning and she’s sleepy, later on she enjoys the attention she gets from her track team she captains

haruka is pretty much self explanatory

now with michiru I have seen a lot of people joking, “who wants to return to school”

and friends let me stop you right there, do NOT attempt to compare your own experiences with Michiru, unless you are a filthy rich, prodigy, badass magical warrior with major guilt from your past life, and a ginormous trauma of not being able to save the world which was your duty.

Who is Michiru, and why, you ask, she wants to go back to school

haruka even tells her “girl you travelled the world giving concerts, and raised a child and you wanna go back to school? a PUBLIC SCHOOL at that? you nuts?” (obviously paraphrasing) 

Michiru is the girl that has it all, wealth, talents, fame, Haruka, a princess to protect, family, etc 

the one thing she doesn’t have is “ordinary life” the carefree life of a teenager in highschool, the life she had read in books, and manga, she had watched on tv shows and movies, but never had the chance to live it herself. 

everyone else including haruka (who is obviously also rich, but not at the levels of rich michiru is) had the chance one way or another to live the ordinary life before they became guardians. but Michiru, from the girls academy, straight to the lions den in mugen, while fighting to keep the world safe, she didnt have that chance.

she had no time no chance really to be ordinary, and going to juuban, a public school, that her friends are there, is what she always wanted.

what she longs for, is the club activities, and the love letters, and making out with haruka in the library (dont think for a second that “meetings in the library” means anything pure, michiru’s mind is constantly in the gutter🤣)

bottom line, going back to school for Michiru signifies her chance to live as a teenage girl without a care outside of her heart throbbing for haruka.

I like to think that michiru draws haruka often but never shows her or anyone else because she feels like she can never capture haruka’s likeness well enough
