DAY 106 (May 17, 2021)
A GOOD DAY
AND GOD SAID:
The light shines brightly now.
It takes conviction that there is good for you, right now, this moment. It takes believing there is more than what you can see—more than the dreariness of any weather, more than the perceived staleness of your routine.
I am not routine. I am not stale or dreary or boring. I am for you. And I am in all things. I am in the air. I am in the water falling from sky. I am in sunlight and clouds. I am in the music surrounding you, and I am in the quiet. I am in the quiet now. You don’t have to fear the quiet—when it feels like you are alone, or doing something wrong, or that beauty is not within you.
I fill you. I am the gift of this day. Don’t squander it. Don’t squander the opportunity to be with me, to know me more, to abandon insecurity and doubt and choose to believe there is more for you. Just your desire to believe that there is more is a road to saying yes to me.
You have said yes to my Son, yes? You have seen him and loved him and want to believe there is more for you in this life? You believe that here, even here, light can shine so brightly, fall so gently on your face? I fill your heart. I do it right now. There is not a thing you need to do but choose to surrender the belief that your circumstances equal your worth. What you do today, how you feel today, can all be surrendered to me. It is in the surrender of these moments, these details, that you can see what I give you.
So, there, there is light. You are light shining brightly. It is love shining brightly, me in you, mighty one.

DAY 103, 104, 105 (June 14-16, 2021)
HERE'S GOD'S REVELATION - THE UNCOVERING
It is okay to feel uncomfortable. I know you are wrestling with something deep down inside you that I am uncovering. It is there—has been there for so long, even though you haven’t wanted to see it. Let me bring into the light what already exists. For I love you, and I want you to see it. I want you to see what I see.
Deep within you is a part of you that doesn’t want to go with me. It pushes and pulls against me. You can feel it. This is the internal battle you face, the cost of living in this world that is not yet fully restored in Me.
But I restore you, again and again. I restore what is mine. I restore what I have created. I do not turn my back on the good I have envisioned, the good I have planned, the good I have breathed life into.
Don’t be scared now. Stay in the discomfort of the uncovering. Don’t run away from it. Yes, you can squirm. I know it is difficult to look at the wounds you carry, get a glimpse at what sin looks like. You know it; you live it. You know what it sounds like, looks like, tastes like. I know.
But what is not for you to carry is the shame that wants to drape itself around your neck and strangle you. It is good to be raw and vulnerable—to want to repent, surrender, ask for me to bring newness and light to what has been damaged and dark.
But this is what I want you to know: I see you. I have taken your sin. And I see you. You feel the pain of what it is like to be without me. You have felt that angst, that agony. But I call you back to me, again and again. You let me kill the old self that does the things you wish it did not do, and I give you a new self, a new life. And I teach you how to listen for my voice, follow my lead.
We can keep going now, deeper into the uncovering. And there is where light shines, illuminating the darkness. And I am with you. I am with you through it all. If you want me here, tell me. Let us get to work, you and me. You trusting me. And I will take it from there.
I am not going anywhere.

DAY 96, 97, 98, 99, 100, 101, 102 (June 7-13, 2021)
IDENTITY - WHO DEFINE US
We are not defined by who others think or say we are. We are not even who we have worked so hard to be or believe we are. Honors, corporate ladders, and titles are all man-made distinctions—and distractions. God is not more pleased with gold tassels than with those who care for the poor or feed the hungry. In Matthew 20, Jesus told the parable of the workers in the vineyard. He described the kingdom of heaven as being like a landowner who went out to hire workers for his vineyard. Although the workers were hired at different times throughout the day, they were all paid the same. Why? Because they each had agreed to work for that amount. The landowner was completely fair to each person, challenging the grumbling workers by asking them if they were envious that he was being generous.
Jesus stated in verse 16, “So the last will be first, and the first will be last.” We American Christians have trouble accepting this as the standard for us too. Surely this can’t be right. We can’t possibly all receive the same grace from God, can we? Doesn’t it matter who we are in this world? Don’t we have to be somebody? The truth is that we are who God says we are, and God says a lot about us. Look at a few verses from the book of Ephesians:
Ephesians 1:4 says God chose us.
Ephesians 1:7 tells us we are forgiven.
Ephesians 2:10 states we are His workmanship (not our own).
Let’s not stop here. We learn in 1 Corinthians 6:19 that we are God’s temple, in John 1:12 that we are God’s children, and in John 15:15 that we are friends of Jesus. Oh, sisters, the Bible tells us a lot about who we are as believers in Christ. We cannot allow the world or even well-meaning friends and family to wrongly define and label us. When you start to hear that lying voice in your head saying you are not good enough, pretty enough, rich enough, or that you are not smart enough, that you deserved that horrible thing that happened to you, stop right there and tell yourself (yell it out loud if you have to):
“No, I am not stupid. I am God’s workmanship!”
“No, I am not unloved or unwanted. I am a friend of Jesus!”
“No, I do not deserve to be abused. I am a temple of God!”
Sometimes the lying voice you hear is your own, and Christ wants to be heard above it. My aunt Lib reminded me of this years ago. When I was in the throes of my doctoral program, Aunt Lib, in the midst of the evermore laborious journey of cancer treatment, called to tell me how proud she was of me. But instead of talking so much about her pride in my educational accomplishments, she shared how she was most proud of me for accepting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and for seeking to follow Him. You see, accomplishments (while they should be celebrated) are not what make us good enough. What makes us enough is that we are transformed by the mercies of Christ Jesus.

DAY 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96 (May 31-June 6, 2021)
FAITH - WHY ARE WE SO AFRAID?
We have access to a fathomless sea of resources: community, the Internet, therapists, and more. But eventually each of us will come to a point when we must ask, “Who or what is my ultimate voice of authority? Is God who God says He is? Can I trust God to do what God says He will do? Do I believe? Will I see the world and my story through my point of view, or dare I consider seeing through a different set of lenses—from God’s point of view? Can I believe in this kind of peace?”
Matthew 8 tells about the time Jesus was with His disciples on a boat when a storm came up on the Sea of Galilee. the disciples were filled with fear, grabbing buckets and ropes, holding on for dear life as the boat heaved and lurched on the swelling waves. “Where is He?” they yelled while crawling along toward where they last saw Jesus. Then Jesus calmed the storm with one single rebuke. It was completely calm, the Bible says. The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the wind and waves obey him!” (Matthew 8:27).
What strikes me the most about this story is that Jesus asked His disciples the strangest question in this circumstance, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Seriously? Quite obviously anyone would be freaking out about the very real possibility of being tossed overboard and drowned at sea. So what was Jesus getting at? Although His followers were with Jesus in the flesh, they were being called out for a lack of trust and for being afraid while in the presence of “God, Mighty Creator” (Elohim) of both the wind and the sea. I believe this has a couple of simple but important implications for us when we face trials in life.
First, God who created all things and is sovereign over all, calls us to put our faith in Him alone. Not in human beings. Not in government or world leaders. And certainly not in the weather. Some people live in really grave circumstances on a day-to-day basis and still live full and abundant lives. Their faces radiate joy. While it is easier said than done, living by faith cannot be based on our circumstances. External things change, but Jesus doesn’t.
Second, we have no need to be afraid. Jesus talks a lot about not being afraid. If you back up a couple of chapters from Jesus calming the storm, He devotes Matthew 6:25–34 to instructing us not to worry. He tells us that we don’t need to worry about our lives because God will take care of all the details. Even when life doesn’t go as planned, and even when life gets really rough, worrying does not add a single moment to our lives.
Our job is to stop denying the terrifying or distressing event(s), recognize our emotions, own them, and then begin leaning into the truth and authority of God, who holds the blueprints for our well-being. Only then can we begin to leave negative emotions behind. This is not a quick fix, but with time and practice, the symptoms of trauma can begin to fade.

DAY 83, 84, 85, 86, 87, 88, 89 (May 24-30, 2021)
WE ALL HAVE SCARS
I have a scar. It runs from one eyebrow to the other. It’s like my own permanent road map marking the shortest distance between one eyebrow and the other. My scar is evidence that I was wounded in the accident that changed my life forever. I should probably have plastic surgery to get it fixed once and for all. But when you’ve lived in the hospital for months, had multiple orthopedic surgeries, had a husband battling prostate cancer and a daughter with a traumatic brain injury, the last thing on your priority list is elective cosmetic surgery. So my scar remains.
Scars are evidence of wounds.
Though my left side was completely crushed, the scars no one saw were on my heart and in my soul. If you’re like me and a lot of women I’ve met over the past few years, you may be living with internal scars as well.
Maybe it was something a father said or didn’t say.
A betrayal by a friend.
A promise a spouse didn’t keep.
A dream shattered by a boss or coach or spiritual leader you once admired.
A misunderstanding among neighbors or business partners.
Something unexpected.
Something unthinkable.
Something unspeakable.
Whether it happened yesterday or fifteen years ago, it still stings. You’d rather not revisit the source of that hurt, yet it left a mark on you that’s impossible to erase. It resurfaces when you least expect it and flares up even though you try to suppress it, reminding you that you are no longer whole.
You were wounded.
Scars are reminders of the wounds we’ve endured. They trigger memories of the traumatic experiences we’d rather forget. We think scars are ugly. That’s why we’re driven to alter them, minimize them, or hide them. But even with all the Mederma cream in the world, they never completely fade.
The good news is that God longs to transform the scars on your wounded heart into marks of beauty. He can use them to bless the world. Beauty marks are wounds that have been transformed into purpose. They remind you that God is redeeming what you’ve suffered and can heal you from the inside out. Maybe your heart feels as if it’s bleeding right now, and healing seems impossible. Trust that the God who created you and loves you is able to heal every broken place.

DAY 76, 77, 78, 79, 80, 81, 82 (May 17-23, 2021)
DANCING IN THE SPIRIT
The Bible invites us to praise God, but some people aren't sure how to go about it. Throughout the scriptures, several ways are suggested: singing, dancing, playing musical instruments, clapping our hands and offering thanksgiving. God enjoys His people, and we should enjoy praising Him. There are so many reasons why we should always praise God. God is the creator of all things, He loves us with an everlasting love, God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. While we were still sinners Christ died for us. He alone is worthy of our praise.
I love to celebrate the goodness of God through dancing. It's exhilarating and it brings me so much joy! There is no party like a Holy Ghost party! When we praise God according to His greatness, we have to express our praise in every way we possibly can. Dancing, singing, playing all the musical instruments, clapping our hands, and raising our voices with a shout of praise are all ways we can express our gratitude to our Father. David danced before the Lord because He knew that God deserved that and so much more. Even though God loves to be praised, we are the ones who benefit from praising God. You see, praising God brings deliverance, and when we praise God it invites the Spirit of God into our situation. When Paul and Silas praised the Lord in prison, the Bible tells us that all the prisoners were set free! Praise also lifts the spirit of heaviness, so when you praise God, depression has to go.
Personally, praising God is one of my secret weapons and I love to praise God. I keep praises on my lips, and I will keep dancing, because He’s been too good for me not to. God commands us to praise Him and that’s reason enough, but I choose to praise God with all my strength, heart, and mind simply because I love Him. Dancing in the Spirit before the Lord brings heaven on earth and that keeps me going and it keeps me strong, so I Got To Keep Dancing! You should too!
I will sing and dance for God with all my heart because He alone is worthy to be praised.

DAY 69, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75 (May 10-16, 2021)
THE DEVIL CANNOT DO ANYTHING TO US
God has all power and the devil (satan) only has the power you give him. He is a liar and a deceiver, and if you listen to him at all, he will steal from you every time. The devil only comes to kill, steal, and destroy. Although God and the devil are at war, we don't have to wait until the end to see who will win. God has already defeated satan (Revelation 12:10-12), and when Christ returns, the devil and all he stands for will be eliminated forever (Revelation 20:10-15).
Satan is here now, however, and he is trying to win us over to his evil cause. With the Holy Spirit's power, we can resist the devil, and he will flee from us. Yes, the power of God is strong enough to give you victory every time! We as believers have to remember the power of the cross and the power of the resurrection. The blood of Jesus paid for our freedom, and the resurrection gave us authority over everything that comes against the will of God in our lives. The same resurrection power that raised Jesus from the dead lives within all those who belong to Him. So we have no need to be defeated or afraid, because we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
It's time we as believers live at our fullest potential and walk in all the authority that has been provided. No more excuses as to why we can’t be all God has called us to be. You have purpose and a God-given destiny that is more awesome than you can imagine. God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all you can ask or think. Yes, that’s right, your biggest dreams don’t even come close to the magnificent plan God has for your life.
We should draw a line in the sand, enough is enough, make up your mind that you will no longer live beneath your privileges, and that you will no longer allow the devil to steal the promises God has given you. It doesn’t matter what you are facing, nothing takes God by surprise because He has already worked it out. Through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, He has given you the power and authority to look the devil in the face and command him to get behind you! Even the demons tremble at the name of Jesus! Live your life submitted to the Father, and the devil will always have to submit to you.

DAY 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 68 (May 3-9, 2021)
NEVER HAVE TO BE ALONE
We all experience life challenges that causes pain, grief, loss, sorrow, and failure. God promises to be "close to the brokenhearted" and to be our source of power, courage, and wisdom, helping us through our problems. Not just the big problems, but even the small daily frustrations that constantly wear us down. It brings me great comfort to know that God is always with me. He will never leave me or forsake me.
Feelings of loneliness will come and go but God is always there to keep you company. He is a friend that is closer than a brother, so whenever you feel lonely draw close to Him. The word of God says if you draw close to Him He will draw close to you. When we saturate ourselves daily with the word of God through study, meditation, prayer, and confessing the word of God, everything in our lives that does not line up with the word of God has to leave, even loneliness.
The more time you spend in God’s presence, the more you are aware of God’s presence, and in His presence is fullness of joy. God’s love is unconditional and has staying power no matter how fragile you are. Even if your heart has been shattered and broken into many pieces, God’s love is ready and able to restore you to complete wholeness.
WE ARE NEVER ALONE BECAUSE GOD IS ALWAYS WITH US!

DAY 56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 62 (April 26-May 2, 2021)
PEACE FROM GOD
The peace of God is one of the greatest benefits of salvation. When we put our trust in God, His peace floods our hearts and minds. God has all power, all wisdom, all knowledge, and He knows the end from the beginning so we can rest in His sovereignty. To have peace is to be in a state of rest, quietness, and calm. It generally denotes a perfect well-being. Because of the blood of Jesus, we have full access to all the promises of God. Jesus as Prince of Peace gives peace to those who call upon Him for personal salvation.
The end result of the Holy Spirit's work in our lives is a real deep and lasting peace. Unlike worldly peace, which is usually defined as the absence of conflict, this peace is confident assurance in any circumstance; with Christ's peace, we have no need to fear the past, the present, or the future. Sin, fear, uncertainty, and doubt are at war within us. The peace of God moves into our hearts and lives to restrain these hostile forces and offer comfort in place of conflict. Jesus says He will give us that peace if we are willing to accept it from Him. If your life is full of stress, allow the Holy Spirit to fill you with Christ's peace.
God sent His son, His son Jesus gave His life, and Jesus sent the Holy Spirit so that the peace from God could live inside of us, and now we never ever have to live without it. God is good!
