Chapter 2
[Next Day, Reader's POV]
RING, RING, RING
You stir awake, glancing over at your alarm clock, the red blinking numbers read '5:30' AM. You sigh, sitting up and reaching over to turn it off. The sun was barely seeping into the room, still too early in the morning. You were used to this, waking up early. It's a rule in your household.
You get up from your comfy bed and start to get ready for the day, taking your time to make sure you were as perfect as possible. From your uniform to your hair. Looking into the mirror, your fingers smooth down the fabric of your blazer, making sure there is no wrinkles. Satisfied with what you see, you quickly do one last adjustment to your headband before grabbing your backpack and walking downstairs.
Stepping into the kitchen, you see your mother packing lunch at the counter, already dressed in her formal attire. At least she cares enough to pack your lunch before she leaves! She looks up when she hears your footsteps, her eyes narrowing with scrutiny. "..Good Morning." She smiles, though it seems forced. "Good Morning." You respond, bowing your head in greeting as you stood by the counter, waiting for her morning judgement.
She finishes closing the bento box before approaching you with crossed arms, looking your uniforn over more closely. Her gaze locks in on your bowtie, the slightly uneven sight bringing a frown to her lips. She clicks her tongue, shaking her head as she undoes the fabric rather aggressively, retying it while scolding you. "I told you time and time again, ____, tie it correctly, you look like a slob." She scoffs. You hang your head low in shame, your cheeks flushing in embarrassment. You should've known it wasn't good enough.
She makes sure the tie is neat before forcing a smile, turning her attention back to your food, setting it into your lunchbag. "Your lunch is ready. I have to go now, be good in class." "Thank you, Ma'am, I will." You take the bag from her, bowing to show your gratefulness. She nods, grabbing her purse from the counter, moving to walk past you. She suddenly stops in her tracks, placing a hand on your shoulder. "Don't disappoint me." You nod quickly, swallowing thickly. Satisfied, she walks away, leaving the house without another word.
—
[Se-mi's POV]
Se-mi wakes up to loud arguing, making her groan. She's too tired to be hearing this shit. She glances over at her alarm clock, the blinking red numbers reading '7:45 AM'. She groans again, pulling her blanket over her head and closing her eyes, trying to fall back asleep. Suddenly, she feels a pillow hit her, heightening her annoyance.
"Wake up, dumbass." Nam-gyu huffs, hitting her with the pillow again. He's already dressed in the uniform he had wore yesterday. Se-mi scoffs, rolling her eyes and sitting up a bit. She grabs the pillow from him, throwing it at his face with a little too much force than necessary. Nam-gyu just stands there with an unimpressed look on his face, picking the pillow up from the ground. "C'mon already." He rolls his eyes, walking across the room to place the pillow on his bed and grab his backpack.
Se-mi raises an eyebrow, watching him as he sloppily swung the backpack over his shoulder. "You're going in today?" Nam-gyu nods, looking annoyed at the fact. "Yeah, I got paired up with Min-su for the project. I'm just gonna have him do it all." He shrugs. Se-mi narrows her eyes at him, a scowl on her face. "Don't be a dick, he can't do everything by himself." Nam-gyu narrows his eyes at her.
"Isn't that what you're going to do with Miss. Popular?" He raises an eyebrow. Se-mi pauses, caught off guard by his words. "That's.. different. I don't know her. And she probably doesn't even want my help." She mumbles. "Right." Nam-gyu smirks, the mocking clear in his tone. "Anyway, you gonna get ready?" He asks, reaching for something on his nightstand. Se-mi shakes her head, laying back down on her bed. "No, I don't feel like working on a project today." She mumbles. "..Okay, if you say so. I'm not covering for you." He shrugs, adjusting something around his neck before walking out of the room.
Se-mi sighs, reaching over to open the drawer of her nighstand. She takes out her vape pen, taking a hit and exhaling up into the air. Maybe she should go in today, what if you really did need her help? It did seem like a lot of work from what she had read.. No, you probably don't need her help.
After thinking for a while, she sighs, getting up from her bed. She quickly gets ready, pulling on her uniform, making sure to pick the cleanist one she could find. Damnit, Nam-gyu. He always leaves stains. It wasn't her fault she had to share uniforms with him, why couldn't he try to be clean for once. She grabs her backpack, fixing her hair one last time in the bathroom mirror before taking a deep breath and walking into the living room.
She'd met with the sight of her dad passed out drunkly on the couch, snoring loudly. She rolls her eyes, about to open the door when she hears her mom's voice. "Where are you going?" Her mom asks around the cigarette between her lips. Se-mi stiffens up, looking over at her mom sitting at the table, scratching away at some lottery ticket. "School." Se-mi states simply, her tone bored. Her mom nods, not actually caring where her daughter was leaving to. "'Kay, make sure your idiot brother actually sells what I gave him. That Su-bong kid is always taking customers." She huffs, turning her attention back to the tickets. "..Right." Se-mi nods, lingering there for a moment.
She didn't know what she was expecting. Maybe an 'I love you'? Or 'have a nice day'? No, she should know better than to think that. She leaves without another word.
—
[Reader's POV]
After your first couple of classes, you enter Mr. Byun's classroom, early and on time. It was normal for you, and now it was expected of you. Mr. Byun looks up as you enter, a smile on his face. "Good afternoon, _____." He nods at you. You give him a polite smile, placing your phone in the locker box before taking your seat at the front of the class.
"Have you talked to Se-mi yet?" He asks as you take out your supplies, raising an eyebrow at you. You pause, your smile faltering. You were hoping he wouldn't bring it up. "..Yes." You answer hesitantly, your eyes never leaving your textbook. Mr. Byun's pleasantly surprised by your words, folding his hands on the table, fully invested in the conversation. "Oh? And how'd it go?" He asks curiously. You think for a moment, how should you word this?
"...I still don't think we're going to get along." You answer honestly. Maybe you could get out of having to work with her? Mr. Byun's smile falters at your words, slightly disappointed. "I see.. Well, Se-mi takes time to warm up to, I'm sure she'll come along." He smiles reassuringly before greeting the next student that walked in.
You stay silent, not exactly reassured by his words. First impressions were always important to you, and Se-mi clearly didn't care enough to make a good one. How are you supposed to do a project with someone who clearly doesn't care? It isn't fair.
By the time the bell rang, Se-mi still hadn't walked in. It was adding to your already growing anxiety. How are you supposed to do a project with someone who doesn't even show up? Your thoughts were already racing, your fingers fidgeting with the bottom hem of your skirt. It's 50%, you have to pass this! And for 3 weeks? Having to try to work with Se-mi, who hasn't even come in, for 3 weeks? Was Mr. Byun trying to torture you? This is so unfair!
Mr. Byun's voice pulls you out of your mind as he starts taking attendance, reading off the names on his clipboard. "Se-mi?" He calls out, looking to the back of the class, seeing an empty spot besides Nam-gyu. He sighs, shaking his head, clearly as frustrated as you. "Nam-gyu, could you contact Se-mi? It's important for her to be here today." He asks, giving the boy an expactanr look. Nam-gyu shrugs, clearly not giving a damn that his sister's absent. "She does her own thing, she didn't want to come in today." He states, fidgeting with the cross around his neck.
Mr. Byun rolls his eyes, crossing out Se-mi's name before moving on to the next student. The action made your anxiety heighten. Were you supposed to accept that your partner just completely skipped? Mr. Byun sets his clipboard down, changing the subject as he begins to write on the chalkboard. "I'm hoping you read the instructions from yesterday, but in case you haven't, which is probably most of you, I'll be explaining the directions today." He states, clearing his throat.
"This project will be worth half of your fall semester's grade, and will be the last assignment in the gradebook. But don't stress too much, you have 3 weeks to work on it starting today." He smiles, trying to the reassuring as your classmates groan. "I will be checking that you and your partner do an even ammount of work. So please, split it wisely. I don't want one of you to do more than the other." That's rich.. "Go ahead and move to sit with your partners now while I get the handouts ready."
You raise your hand, clearing your throat. "Mr. Byun, what if our partners not here..?" You ask hesitantly, glancing around the class. Mr. Byun pauses and sighs, like he was expecting you to speak up. "I will try and contact her. For now ____, you can start on your portion by yourself." Your arm slowly drops back down, embarrassment folding through you as you feel your classmates' eyes on you.
Mi-na snickers besides you, nudging your shoulder. "We told you Se-mi was bad. By the way, do you mind if Ji-won sits here?" You fight the urge to glare at her, simply shaking your head as you get up and gather your things. You glance around, seeing that the only empty spots are where Se-mi and Nam-gyu sit. You avoid your classmates' eyes as you slide into the chair, placing your supplies on the desk. On the table's surface, there were a couple pencil carvings in the wood, one reading 'N + T', which you can only assume was Nam-gyu + some random girl. There was also a little bit of ash that you blew and wiped off with a grimace.
You begin working quietly on the beginning part of the project. It was easy enough, especially after going over it last night. You pick your project topic, something that you're good at. You want to make sure you get the best grade, and you're not going to let Se-mi get in the way of that-
"Oh, Se-mi, how kind of you to join us." Mr. Byun states sarcastically as Se-mi slides the classroom door open. You immediately raise your head, your eyes widening at the sight of her. "Do you have a reason for being late?" He asks with crossed arms. "No, not really." Se-mi shrugs, glancing around the classroom. She notices where you're sitting, sending you a curious look. Mr. Byun sighs, already used to this type of conversation. "You can go take your seat." He waves her off, turning his attention back to grading papers.
Se-mi approaches the desk, raising an eyebrow as she sits down next to you. "Why're you sitting here?" She asks, though she doesn't really sound interested as she boredly rests her cheek against her hand. You have to fight the urge to scoff at her words. She was seriously asking you why you were sitting next to her seat? "Well, Mr. Byun said we had to go sit with our partners." You explain, trying your best to be polite. "So I've been sitting here waiting for you." You force a smile.
Se-mi's eyes narrow a bit, seemingly seeing through you. "..Alright." She shrugs, leaning back in her chair. You clear your throat, pushing your notebook and directions towards her, scooting your chair in a bit. "Now that you're here, we can finally go over the project." You smile, looking at her expectantly. She glances down at your notebook, her eyebrows raising. "Wait, you wrote this already?" She asks, grabbing your notebook and reading over the several paragraphs, formulas, and equations. She flips the page, her eyes widening slightly as she's met with another page full of writing, the other side already half-way filled in.
You nod watching as she continued to skim through it. "I wrote some last night, but now that I've chosen a topic for us, I know what to write about." Se-mi pauses, looking back up at you. "Well then why do you need my help?" She chuckles, fidgeting with the ring on her lip. You can't tell if she's being playful or mocking. "Well, Mr. Byun says we have to split it into an even ammount of work." You clarify, sliding the instruction paper over to her.
"First we'll need to write a multiple page, detailed essay report on our topic." You explain, circling the description on the paper with your pencil. "Uh huh.." Se-mi frowns, slightly biting at her finger. "Then we'll have to make a model and posterboard together." You finish, circling the next section as well. Se-mi sighs, running a hand through her hair. "Fuck.. That seems like a lot." She scoffs softly, leaning back in her chair. "That's why they're giving us 3 weeks. Well including today, but still." Your smile turns more genuine. "I think if we section it off correctly, we'll be able to do it." "If you say so.." She mumbles, lolling her head back.
The bell then rings, the sound interrupting any words you were going to say. "Alright, that's the bell," Mr. Byun begins, clapping his hands as he gets up from his desk. "Please, please, please start on the project as soon as you can. I cannot stress this enough, this is worth 50% of your grade." He enunciates each word he speaks, trying to be louder than your classmates packing up. "Have a good day, you're dismissed."
You begin packing your things, making sure they're neat in your backpack. "You're coming in tomorrow, right?" You ask Se-mi, your expression hopeful as you look at her. She hesitates before sighing, nodding relucantly. "Yeah whatever, I will.." She mumbles, getting up from her seat and slinging her backpack on. "I'll see you tomorrow then!" You call out as she bgeins to walks out of the room, a big smile on your face. Se-mi simply raised a hand in acknowledgement, continuing to walk away. You finish packing up, smiling to yourself the whole time. Maybe you judged her too quickly.
Hey, sorry for the long wait! I had a hard time writing since I had a block and lost motivation, but I'm back now and I'll try to update frequently again!! Hope you enjoyed, I was going to make it longer but I decided push it to chapter 3 so I know what to write. Thank you for reading!!

Deliquent!Se-mi × Overachiver!Female Reader
This is a multi-chaptered school au se-mi x reader fic, this is chapter 1 so please read the prologue or this won't make that much sense!
Prologue

Chapter 1: Why her?
[Reader POV]
Your interaction with Se-mi left your mood a little.. sour. You weren't use to being turned down like that, and this girl was supposed to be your partner? Seriously, what was Mr. Byun thinking when he paired you with her? It's like he's setting you up for failure.
You approach your friend group's cafeteria table with a frown on your face, which was unusual for you. Normally you'd be wearing a cheerful smile, all bubbly and bright. You sit down with a sigh, which your friends seem to notice immediately since Mi-na hushed their giggles, a smirk on her face.
"Heyy, _____," She spoke with a condescending tone, trying to stifle a snicker. You look over at her, your expression turning confused. "Yeah..?" You give her a puzzled look, taking your lunchbox out from your backpack. Your friend Yoon-ju giggles besides her, earning her a nudge from Mi-na. Your gaze flickers between them, slightly annoyed by their constant laughing. Yoon-ju clears her throat, having to composing herself before speaking up. "How'd Mr. Byun's class go? I heard he's *assigning* partners for the project." You glanced over at Mi-na, your eyes narrowing at her and her suspicious smirk. You should've known she'd say something.
You clear your throat, beginning to poke at your food. "It was okay," You shrug, trying not to seem bothered. Yoon-ju raised an eyebrow, seeing through your act. "Oh really? I thought you got paired with Se-mi.." She hummed, smirking at you. "You got paired with *Se-mi?* Seriously?" Your friend Eun-mi interjected as she sat down at the table, a shocked look on her face.
You roll your eyes, crossing your arms as she burst out laughing. "It's not that bad-" You protested, though you were interrupted by Mi-na. "____, it's *Se-mi*, it really is that bad." She taunts, her tone snarky. "Yeah, I heard she's like a raging homo." Eun-mi states, leaning in as she whispered the last word, a disgusted look on her face. Yoon-ju nods in agreement, her face contorting in distaste. You frown, looking down at your food in discomfort. You didn't really want to discuss the rumors surrounding her.
"Who're we talking about?" Yoon-ju's annoying boyfriend Beom-seok butted in, sitting down next to her and slinging his arm around her shoulders. "Han Se-mi," She informed with a hum, leaning into him. "____ got paired with her." You groan, hiding your face in your hands. "Can we stop talking about this.." You mumble, but your words go ignored. "Se-mi? That Nam-junkie's hot sister?" He raised an eyebrow in intrigue, a disturbing smirk on his face. Yoon-ju scowls, hitting him in the arm. "Don't talk about that dyke like that." She snaps, rolling her eyes. Your face falls at her words, your eyebrows furrowing. "Yoon-ju, you can't say that." You state, frowning at her. She rolls her eyes again, mumbling under her breath. "Oh shut up, It's true.."
You shake your head, tuning the rest of the converstation out as you focused on finishing your food. You were already in a bad mood, and they were just making it worse.
———
The rest of your classes after lunch went smoothly, and you were grateful you didn't have cheer pratice today. The last thing you needed was the whole team asking about Se-mi. Was she really that big of a deal? You never really noticed her, just heard the rumors about her. You just hoped that you'd be able to get through this project and never have to talk to her again.
You approach your front door after a short walk from the school, unlocking it and walking into the house. It was dark and cold inside, quiet too. Though, it was normal for you, coming home to an empty home, having to wait hours for your mother to come back from her office. Well, it wasn't really empty, your father was there, but he was almost always unreachable. Upstairs in his fancy office, on the phone or computer all day. So really, it was *like* you were alone.
You sigh, taking off your shoes before walking into the dinning room and flicking on the switch, the dim glow of the chandelier being the only light besides the low sunlight seeping in through the windows. You quietly slide into one of the many chairs, which you always found to be an unnecessary ammount. There was only three of you living here, so why would you need so many empty spots? Maybe to make it feel more full, though it didn't work.
Pulling out the handout from your backpack, you begin to go over the project by yourself. It's a long, three week assignment that's worth 50% of your grade. You groan, resting your forehead against the table. Three weeks having to work with *Se-mi*? You weren't sure you could handle that long. And 50%? If you failed to get along with her, all your hardwork from earlier this year would be for nothing. You had to get the best possible score, or you could kiss SNU goodbye. That would leave your mother disappointed in you, and you couldn't stomach the thought.
With pressure weighing heavy on your shoulders, you take out your textbooks and notes, going over every possible equation to make sure you were ready for this.
———
[Se-mi's POV]
Se-mi sat on her bed boredly, a joint dangling between her fingers. In the living room, she could hear her brother Nam-gyu and his friend Thanos laughing about *something*, who knows what. It was annoying.
She had been trying to play a new song on her guitar, but it left her frustrated. Now she was staring at the crumpled handout paper in her hand, reading over the directions for that new project. To say she was uninterested was an understatement. Working with that popular girl for three weeks sounded like absolute hell. Even worse, you seemed completely fake. The way you smiled cheerfully irked Se-mi. She had heard your complaining to the teacher, didn't even give her a chance before trying to switch. Though she couldn't deny that you were pretty, it was a small pro.
Not that she wanted to do the project with her, she'll probably just skip tomorrow so she doesn't have to. That girl could do it on her own, she's smart, she probably doesn't even want her help.
That's it! Sorry this one is short, the next chapter will be longer and have actual se-mi and reader interactions lol. Hope you enjoyed!

Deliquent!Se-mi x Overachiver!Female Reader
This is the first part of a new multi-chapter school au fanfic. Se-mi is a deliquent/troubled student and the reader is a popular teacher's pet. Reader is also kinda uptight at first. Hope you enjoy!
Warnings: None
Word count: 978
Prologue
Takes place in a public High School in an outskirt town in Seoul, Korea
It was your class period before lunch, the time was ticking down, students were shouting and throwing paper around.
"Alright, alright, listen up!" Mr. Byun called out, cutting through the shouts from the other students. "Before I dismiss you, I'll be assigning your partners for the upcoming project." Mr. Byun informed. "And no, you cannot switch, so don't bother asking." He sighed, adjusting his glasses as he began to read off the names on his clipboard.
Your classmates groaned, not looking forward to another science project. You however, had a smile on your face. A stark contrast to the rest of the class. You were what was called a.. overachiever teacher's pet, to put it bluntly. You were at the top of the class academically, and you were a cheerleader. The epitome of a popular girl. Beloved by all teachers and students, surely you would get along with your partner nicely!
"_____," He calls out, making you perk up with excitement. Maybe you'll get paired up with Yun-ju? He's cute.. Or maybe your friend Min-ji?
"And Se-mi." He finishes. Your classmates burst into laughter, even your desk partner Mi-na was holding back a giggle.
You pause, looking to the back of the class at the girl, Se-mi. She was leaning back in her chair, tapping her pen as she spaced out, looking out the window with a bored expression. She was not paying attention. Her desk partner Nam-gyu snickered as he tapped her shoulder and whispered to her.
Surely this was a mistake, right? He couldn't have meant *that* Se-mi, right? Hangs out with druggies, always ditching, never paying attention, low grade average, caught high in class. Not her...
The bell rings, pulling your attention away from Se-mi. You quickly pack your supplies, making sure they're neat in your backpack before getting up from your seat, approaching Mr. Byun's desk.
"Excuse me, Mr. Byun," You begin with a polite smile, glancing down at the list of names on his clipboard. "I'm sorry, I'm a little confused, did you say Se-mi was my partner?" You ask with a nervous laugh.
Mr. Byun sighs, looking away as he takes his glasses off. "I knew this was going to happen.." He mutters under his breath before clearing his throat. "Yes, I did." He states, crossing his arms.
Your smile falters, almost dropping into a frown. "Oh, uhm.." You pause awkwardly, trying to think of what to say. You didn't want to sound *rude* but.. "Are you sure Se-mi would be the best partner for me? I mean, I'm not sure that we'd get along-" Mr. Byun interrupts you with a raise of his hand, a stern expression on his face. "Have you talked to her, Miss ____?" He asks sarcastically, it was a rhetorical question.
Your mouth opened to say something, but no words came out. No, you haven't talked to her before.. Mr. Byun gives you a deadpan look, before it turns more understanding. "I know what you're thinking, but Se-mi is a capable student, she just doesn't put in the effort. If you actually try to work with her, I'm sure you'll be fine." He gives you a reassuring smile before waving you off with his hand. "Now go eat lunch, I'll see you tomorrow. Don't forget your phone and the project handout."
You sigh, about to grab your phone from the locker before someone bumps into your shoulder. "Hey!-" You frown, turning to the person. However, your eyes widen at the sight of Se-mi, your words caught in your throat. Wow, she's tall up close-
"Excuse me." She states sarcastically, a small smirk on her face as she reached into the locker and grabbed her phone. She pushed past you without another word, walking away and leaving you speechless.
You shake away the shock, grabbing your phone from the locker and two handout papers before rushing after her. "Hey, wait!" You call out in the busy hallway, trying to catch up with her. She doesn't stop walking, headphones plugged into her ears. "Wait!" You pant as you catch up to her, tapping on her arm. Wow, she was a fast walker..
She pauses, turning to you with a confused expression. "What..?" She asks with a frown. She certainly didn't expect this girl to chase after her. "You forgot the handout.." You state, extending the paper out to her. "..Oh." She looked down at the paper, her expression now indifferent. "Thanks.." She took the paper from you, raising an eyebrow. "You chased after me for this?"
Now that you are actually hearing her speak, her voice wasn't how you expected. You thought it'd be cold and monotoned, however, it was more.. low and calm. "Well yeah, we're partners now." You put on a fake smile. "Mmm.. Yeah, I heard." She shrugs, crumbling the paper and stuffing it into her pocket. You go silent, taking a moment to fully take in her apperance. You've never gone up to her, but now you could really see her. Her short hair, the bangs that hover over her eye, her piercings. Are those even allowed? You're sure they're not, but then again, she's wearing an oversized boys uniform, so she clearly doesn't care.
"You done staring at me, or can I go now?" She asks sarcastically, but it seemed playful, that same smirk on her face. You freeze, your cheeks heating up. "I wasn't-" You protest, but you're cut off with a chuckle. "Right, anyway, thanks for the paper." She waves you off, beginning to move away. "Wait, don't you want to go over it together?" You call out to her with a frown. "Nope, not interested!" She states, walking off at that same fast pace, leaving you standing there in the hallway.
Well, this's going to be an annoying project..
That's it for the prologue! I'll get started on chapter 1 as soon as I can, hope you enjoyed it!
