So I used to have a Russian friend who had a pretty thick accent and like a lot of Russians tended to eschew articles. She would say things like “Get in car.” And stuff.

Well one day this asshole who had been kind of tagging along with us asks her why she talks like that because it makes her sound dumb and I still remember her response word for word.

“Me? Dumb? Maybe in America you have to say get in THE car because you are so stupid that people might just get in random car, but in Russia we don’t need to say that. We just fucking know because we are not stupid.”

If you thought you were trans and explore gender, and find that you’re your assigned gender, that’s okay.

If you thought you were trans and explore your gender, and find out that you really don’t care about gender, that’s okay.

If you thought you were trans and explored your gender, and were bullied and/or frightened into acting cis (even if you’re not) but then decided you’re okay with it (at least for now), that’s okay.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with exploring your gender and finding out that it really was just a phase of sorts. I know I’ve faced criticism after saying I was trans for awhile and then going back to my assigned name and gender. The truth is that I didn’t feel safe using my preferred name and pronouns, and it eventually got to a point where I didn’t care anymore. Now, I use my birth name, but anyone can use any pronouns and I don’t give a shit about gender.

people really need to stop making fun of young trans boys who go through the “im a soft plant boy uwu” phase, who dye their hair pastel colors, who go through the space prince phase, who dresses very feminine. realizing you’re trans can be pretty tough so staying “soft” can be a good middle ground for these young boys who were previously raised feminine. making fun of young trans men that call themselves soft/soft boys is so harmful. let them find themselves, grow out of it on their own. if you consider yourself an “elder” and make fun of these kids you’re a terrible role model.
