He was a tough cookie to crack, so it had surprised you when he’d begun to open up to you a few months after meeting. His hard exterior and closed-off personality was definitely a front that you’d begun to slowly break through piece by piece. It didn’t take long for Din to trust you completely–not only with himself but the Child as well.

You’d proven that after assisting him on a shootout and holding your own while also holding onto the Child. After that day it became nearly impossible for him to push the feelings that had been building up for you.

“Kara, can you turn the lights off?” he would ask.

It was his way of telling you that he wanted to kiss you, but you both knew that you weren’t allowed to see him. He was admittedly embarrassed that he wasn’t able to kiss you and be with you in ways that others would be able to. It would worry him if he let the thoughts consume his mind - that you were going to find someone you would prefer to be with more.

“I want to be with you, Din. There isn’t anybody else I’d rather be with,” you’d remind him, making him smile from behind the beskar.

When you would kiss, the feeling of facial hair grazed your face and you wanted nothing more than to open your eyes and turn the lights on in the small room. He was gentle when he would kiss you, his fingers tracing along the side of your face when he deepened the kiss.

You knew to keep your eyes closed until the sound of his helmet closing back around his head filled the room. Every time you would open your eyes, Din would sigh. He could see that you had gorgeous, blue eyes from behind the lens on his helmet. He wanted nothing more than to rip it off and just stare into the sparkling light of your eyes.

You would often sit with the Child and play with him, mainly teaching him the difference between good and bad. After leaving the ship on auto-pilot, Din smiled from behind his helmet as he heard the way you were speaking to the Child.

“Yes, eating frogs is good,” you encouraged with an exaggerated nod of your head, showing a picture of a frog to the Child.

“No, biting fingers is not good,” you added, mimicking the motion of biting your own finger. “Unless they hurt you first.”

Din chuckled from behind you, causing you to turn around. You gave him a smile and he took a seat on the metal floor beside you. The Child waddled over to him and climbed into his lap, making you smile.

“You’re an excellent teacher,” Din said, his glove-covered finger pushing a strand of hair from your face.

You smiled and rested your head against his shoulder, scooting closer to cuddle into Din’s side. This was the definition of ‘perfect’ for you. The Child cooed happily at the peaceful atmosphere that surrounded the three of you and reached for your finger, holding onto it while he rested back in Din’s lap.
