Hello friends! Soooo where do I begin? The human body has been a subject in art throughout the ages. From cave paintings to the Renaissance, the naked figure has been a prominent feature in all its glory. Humans have used portraiture and figurative work to study and preserve images of our species. Nothing wrong with that, right? Well, due to the oversexualisation and also scrutiny of our form, sometimes you do come up against a few problems as an artist. It's very hard to find people who are willing to pose for you. As an artist, I'm totally fine with posing for my own work. I did life drawing classes at college at age of sixteen. Nudity in art to me is nothing new. However when I decided to pose for my own drawings I knew at some point an issue would arise. Said issue being that people that I know will think that they have seen me naked. Bit of an uncomfortable one that! Let me bring some clarity to this situation. Unless you are one of a very small number of people (less than the amount of fingers on one hand) who have seen me completely naked as an adult human then you simply have not. Viewing a nude drawing that I modelled for will not change that. What you are seeing is a collection of pencil markings on paper blended together to create an illusion. A representation of my naked body but it is not actually me. It's not the same as viewing a photograph. If I use nudity in my work it is either a figurative study or symbolism. It's not there to be sexualised. I don't want people to get weird about it or to make me feel weird about it either. I hope that the subject can be handled with maturity and respect. At the end of the day, a much as I am a friend, a family member, a bakery assistant you work with or someone you went to school with, I am an artist. This is my craft. The human face and body is a common feature in my work and will continue to be throughout my career which hopefully will be long! Thank you for reading if you were patient enough to reach the end. #nudityinart #nudityinartisok #discuss #dontbeweird #staceycampbellart #drawing #portraiture #lifedrawing #figurativeart #figurativedrawing #portraiture https://www.instagram.com/p/B29rU33l8Hx/?igshid=onebc4jppdmp

Hello everyone. If you're in Sunderland City Centre, pop into Frederick Street Gallery to see the Animal Art Exhibition which opens today. I feel very lucky to have two of my drawings included alongside other local artist's work. The gallery is open 10-4 Tuesday to Saturday. I won't be able to get there myself until next week because of my work shifts but if you walk by Specsavers and Wilko, cross the road, it's on the corner opposite Hackett's estate agents. It's in the basement. The exhibition runs until April 25th.

Near the end of 2018, I created some new Stacey and the Springer cards perfect to welcome a new arrival to your family. The two new designs feature an illustration inspired by my Springer Spaniel, Henry, when he was himself a new arrival.
